bigjohnson51 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 sooooooooo i found a video of the construction, but i took it off because i'm an idiot and everyone has seen it
jamesdillaman Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 ^I think this would be the same videos Robb has been posting links to in the TPR updates? James Dillaman
Carnage Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 ^ There is two rail track in the staging area. Plus this morning they trucked in a couple straight sections of track, along with a curving two rail track section to the project area. Didn't look like enough of a curve though. More like a transition to a brake run or something. What website have you seen this new track on? The Cedar Point webcam. The two rail section I saw on the webcam this morning looks just like the track CP rules posted a pic of.
Wathell Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 (had to take the pic off cause it was taken on mean streak, and thats against the rules. sry guys)
BeemerBoy Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 ^ WOW. That small building is really coming along now! I wish they'd hurry up and announce what roofing material they're gonna use.
Wathell Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 btw, www.pointbuzz.com has updated their pics, showing off the 2nd inersion! ^same here, cant wait untill they tell us the make of those doors, so i can put them in my house. lol
ECZenith Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 That overhead view is pretty cool... makes me realize how WRONG those turns are! That is one twisted puppy... Yay for two corkscrews!
Astat Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Hmm... www.cedarpoint.com watch the banner on the top and wait for Snoopy to come flying across. Looks like Duane from RCDB must be psychic with his "posting errors."
Ccron10 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 OMG this coaster is going to be so cool!!!!!!!! It might be another Storm Runner type coaster!!!
GURZU Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Lol! Look this Air-Time.... This inversion, are very pretty and smothy! http://www.pointbuzz.com/gallery/5276.jpg
HCOSurfer90 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Judging from this pic, it seems that a wingwalker's trains would not fit through the corkscres support: http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=5359 And from this pic, it looks almost as it these 2 corkscrews could be part of a dueling coaster: http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=5362
Carnage Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 ^ I just noticed that in the background of that pic is the curvy two rail track that I mentioned seeing in the webcam. It's on the trailer along with a couple sections of large track.
ECZenith Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 ^^ If you look at the aerial photo you'll see that that this is the ending of the ride and that the two cokscrews are connected (IOW, not dueling...). The low to the bank ground curves come first, camelback, and then back to back corkscrews. The corkscrews aren't interlocked but there are footers leading through at least one of them meaning the track will thread through it.
DarkStitch626 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Well according to a previous post about Snoopy flying across with the banner. "The secret is out in 9 days" oh god "We watched the video tape we're gonna die in 7 days!" LOL! this is good! if you also look Snoopy flies ALL the way around the park.
HCOSurfer90 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 ^^Dont worry I knew that, I was just saying it looked like they were dueling corkscrews.
FeelTheFORCE Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 I noticed a couple weeks ago that the supports dont touch the cement footers and are a couple inches in the air...shown here, here, and here, whereas the supports are fully on the ground on Goliath in this picture. Why are they like that?
redunzelizer Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 I noticed a couple weeks ago that the supports dont touch the cement footers and are a couple inches in the air... It's the helium filled track, strongly pulling upwards. That why there's so many screws to keep it from flying away. On the few spots where you see these screws tightened, there are automated helium refill pipes, entering from below...
ECZenith Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 I believe they go back and tighten those down after the structure is assembled.
Astat Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Actually I think they go back and fill in the space with a little extra concrete. I remember seeing that during the Tatsu construction.
coasterfreak101 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Is it just me, or does that second inversion look alot more like a barell roll than a corkscrew? --Tyler "9 Days Until the Madness is Over!!!" H.
Robbie Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 No, in 9 days i'll be saying I told you so Robbie"Hey, what happend to people saying aquatrax 10 times a page?"Milburn
TheArchfiend Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax. Oops... I forgot one... Aquatrax.
BeemerBoy Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax. Ditto.
mightypotato Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 You know, I'm going to laugh my butt off at you guys if its not an Aquatrax. Personally, I don't care what the ride is, as long as its fun. I just like seeing people look stupid time to time.
