3Mutts Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 ^^ Alton Towers is put to more shame. http://porsmond.bravepages.com/Alton/Alton11/Alton.html
Fahrenheit1221 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 My new top 10 at cedar point. #1 GateKeeper-i haven't even ridden it, yet still looks awsome. #2 Maverick--still haven't rode this one yet, the line just turns me off every time. #3 Millennium Force #4 Magnum XL-200 #5 Raptor #6 Gemini #7 Mantis # 8 Mean Streak--abosolutely LOVE IT! # 9 Wicked Twister # 10 Top Thrill Dragster---SHORT and sweet What a crazy list. It is amazing that two different people who both love coasters in general can have such a wide variety in their favorite rides. I avoided Mantis and Mean Streak like the plague when I was there from horror stories of pain and agony. For example... why rank two rides you've never ridden at the top? Maverick is phenomenal but it's also a bit unpleasant to be honest. I also think that Dragster, despite it's shortness deserves to be higher than Wicked Twister and probably Gemini. Raptor is Avery intense and disorienting if you are not used to it. Magnum is an absolute airtime machine and Millennium Force is a legendary coaster. What is it about Mean Streak that you love so much? Just out of genuine curiosity.

rcdude Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 So far, GateKeeper is looking like it could be the best 2013 coaster. I definitely could see this being one of Cedar Point's top 5 coasters, and probably their best B&M. It also looks like a pretty good indication of exactly what can be done with a Wing Coaster.
coasterkid21 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I personally love mean streak and mantis. When I last rode them last Saturday they were running great. I had no pain on either.

What is it about Mean Streak that you love so much? Just out of genuine curiosity. Mean streak, I don't think its THAT bumpy. It's a 161' - 65m.ph. scream machine, with one of the longest ride times in the park. Full of head-choppers and drops. Theirs not much air, but there are some good bits throughout the ride. Why pass up a giant like mean streak (no line!) because you can't put your back against the seat? Although I will admit I'd have to take a break after 2 rounds in a row. Maverick is at the top because of two things. 1: I LOVE launch coasters! 2: I love QDC's! And this ride has them both wrapped with a bow . Maybe it's because Im young, but allot of people complain about rides being rough. I RARELY have any problems with roughness. Everyone on corkscrew was NOT having a good time("that hurt" etc.) ME: my hands were up through both corkscrews, talk about FUN! Wicked Twister is fun because it's just so twisty, and it's an Invert, did I mention it's a Hyper? (well not technically, but still) And the thing with mantis is, you just need to know how to ride it. It's twisty, tall, loopy and has some fantasitc G's. It's an overall enjoyable ride IMO. And Gatekeeper. It just looks awesome. I can't even imagine the G's this things going to pull during that first immelman. Edited August 12, 2012 by JonnyRCT3
Parallax Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 It does looks like it has the potential to be a pretty forceful ride. Maybe B&M finally got the memo.
TXman308 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 ^I agree. That airtime hill after the first dive-immelan thingy (official name?) looks like it could provide some nice negative g's.

Dive Drop Immelman GIANT Corkscrew Camel Zero G Immelman Zero G MCBR ??? (it looks to have a 90* helix, D-E-licious!) Station
jmicha Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 ^The camel is before the giant corkscrew and what you have listed as the second Immelmann is a dive loop.
Gurglemuf Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Is it me, or has the key hole become the symbol of the wing rider?

Six Flags Enthuseast Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I personally think it looks awesome! I was kinda unsure at first about how well Cedar Point could fit the ride right over the entrance, but it appears to fit in rather nicely. I love the theme; it fits in well with the placement of the ride while still having a relatively simple Cedar Fair name, and the train design is pretty cool! I certainly believe that this is a great replacement for Space Spiral and Disaster Transport, and I hope it's as good of a ride as it appears!
JonnyRCT3 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 (edited) ^The camel is before the giant corkscrew and what you have listed as the second Immelmann is a dive loop. Well correct me if I'm wrong. But don't immelmans return you in the direction you came? And a dive loop will turn you either 90*ish to the left or right? These two elements are confusing. Cp's turnaround looks a bit similar... farm5.static.flickr.com/4035/4630781976_54bd38e102.jpg www.coaster-net.com/images/news/dollywood-announces-wild-eagle-UFtl.jpg I'll just wait untill tomorrows announcement. But don't immelmans return you in the direction you came? And a dive loop will turn you either 90*ish to the left or right? These two elements are confusing. They can both turn you around the way that you came, but dive loops can be entered from either the side (Bizarro @ Great Adventure) or the front (Dark Knight @ SFNE). What do you think the height requirement will be for this? X-Flight is 54" while Wild Eagle is only 50". Cedar Point seems to have rather low height requirements, so do you think it will be 50" like Wild Eagle?
CoasterStreak Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 ^^Dive loops enter from the top, while Immelmanns enter from the bottom.
JonnyRCT3 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Ok. It seems Dive loops do their own thing and then "wing over" into the inversion. While Immelmans are one large continious inversion. Is that it?
BDG Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 No, they're the exact same element construction-wise, you simply traverse them in a different direction.
JonnyRCT3 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 No, they're the exact same element construction-wise, you simply traverse them in a different direction. Thank you for that. You really do "dive" into a dive loop. *facepalm* And an immelmann is the complete opposite, judging from the pic.
FeelTheFORCE Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Mantis also has a dive loop, it's the element after the vertical loop.
sugart Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Here is the theme of next years new coaster....The Keymaster
megametal Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 ^ Man, Columbia Pictures gonna sue somebody! I kinda thought the riders would be Keymasters, leading to some funny sexual jokes while you ride the Gatekeeper.
Intimidator305 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 (edited) I don't have a single thing to complain about this at all. I like the colors, logo, name, layout, new gate, location, and everything. I just hope they make the area under the ride have grass with some landscaping like it looks in the renderings. The GP will absolutely love this and I'm sure us coaster enthusiasts will too if it has some powerful forces unlike Wild Eagle. I'll be back up at Cedar Point in 2013 for sure because of this. I'm excited for the official announcement and videos! Edited August 12, 2012 by Intimidator305
Legoguy1395 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Does anyone know the element order after the MCBR?
