Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Thinking about possibly going to VF this Saturday night since I've never actually been to the park at night. Should I expect Saturday evening/night to be busy?

If I do go, I'll probably make a Photo TR out of it, and I'll report anything new that I find.

Also, I found this POV on YouTube of Mad Mouse from 1999. The ride is basically the same, but it's cool to see it in it's old color scheme.

Just as busy as a Saturday day, nothing more or less. No more than 20-30 minute waits as usual. After the fireworks at 10 pm it starts to clear out so use the last 90 minutes wisely. You can see the fireworks from the Renegade queue pretty well so you might want to be in line around 9:45/9:55 pm there.

On another note, summer is moving fast. Do any VF regulars in this thread want to get together for 3-4 hours and make a run at hitting all 8 coasters? I think it could be fun, post comments if you would be interested and what day or time you think would work best and we could set something up if we get enough interest.

I will be there tomorrow with a friend from Ohio.

Anyone know if CoasterCraze still happens? I've been to this event twice and always had a good time.

Just got back from the park today. I noticed the train was back up and running again! Valleyfair seemed to be selling all of the unsold merchandise from past seasons, so seeing the opportunity I got 2 steel venom hats that were 80 cents each! I also bought a steel venom t shirt (2012 season?) for $5.00, If you like valley fair's merchandise get out to the park soon, they have some great deals. Steel venom is still closed unfortunately

Lets talk about possible expansion plots and new attraction locations. First up, Valleyfair. The amphitheater could be demolished to make way for a new coaster. Enterprise can fit into the figure 8 of Wild Thing, which could make more space for one. I imagine an Intamin launch fitting into that area and havin the ride fly over the park entrance, such as gatekeeper, and turn around in dinosaurs alive and fly over the entrance again. the carnival games building behind The Wave could be demolished too, and with the scrambler space, could make space for a family coaster or a couple of small flats. Mad mouse could fit into that small area too. Now to Soak City. the hydro blaster area could be used as a big family pool. the current volleyball courts I want to see be taken out, and have that area possibly house a proslide cannonbowl. of course the old Imax area will house the "Snake Pit" like slide complex. And a new children's splashpad couldn't hurt as a waterpark expansion.

The water expansion is supposedly to be similar to Dorney's and Worlds of Fun's.

I included that. These are just several locations that could house attractions. We could be seeing a major waterpark overhaul instead of just a complex.

A waterpark expansion wouldn't make some enthusiasts happy but I wouldn't fault the park one bit if that was all they got next year. Waterparks are huge profit and great family activities.

I think I'll be perfectly fine with this expansion because it sounds like at least part of this expansion could bring some new water slides that are actually thrilling. Something thrilling is exactly what VF needs because Renegade (2007) was the last thrilling addition. Even though Northern Lights (Disk'O coaster) was a better ride than I expected, I wouldn't call it a thrill ride. I've said this before, but the waterpark needs this expansion badly because Soak City is one of the worst, if not the worst waterpark in the Cedar Fair chain.

I'm 99% sure Soak City is the worst in the Cedar Fair chain. compared to other Cedar Fair waterparks, we look pathetic

When Valleyfair gets its new coaster, I hope they name it something awesome. All of their coasters have awesome names right now. We probably have some of the best coaster names in my opinion. ( Wild Thing, Renegade, Excalibur, Steel Venom). I just hope the new coasters name won't be cheesy or anything.

I would love to get something like Dimondback, but since we have wild thing I don't see that happening. A GigaCoaster would be amazing, but we have a height restriction, and Valleyfair is not a big enough park for one. Maybe one day in like 20 years when gigas are as common as hypers, but not anytime soon. I am really waiting for this invert though, I mean it's like the one thing that Valleyfair needs most. I would like to see something a little bigger than falcon or patriot, but obviously not as big as like Banshee.

Parts of Valleyfair have a height restriction according to an interview I read on Valleyfairzone a while back, so 275 isn't necessarily the limit.

As much as I would love a giga coaster, I don't think it will happen at Valleyfair anytime soon because Cedar Fair would probably bring giga coasters to larger parks like Kings Island, Knott's, or maybe even Dorney before they build one at the smaller parks. Even though Valleyfair is slated for significant growth, hoping for a giga coaster might be setting yourself up for disappointment if you ask me.

I agree, we NEED inversions in the worst way possible! A B&M invert that is a completely unique layout is the best thing Valleyfair could get right now. The next best, I think, would be a B&M flyer. Both have several inversions which is what we desperatly need.

On a side note, does anybody remember that dude that was a major naysayer about Valleyfair getting anything significant? I won't say his name but you all know who it is. He threw out all kinds of garbage of why Valleyfair won't get anything significant. When I confronted him with facts he just disappeared. Haven't heard from him since! I personally would rather get my hopes up for something BIG and settley for something a little less than to not hope for anything and end up with a bad attitude about it all. Anyway, August is just around the corner and If our predictions are true about the Soak City makeover, we should hear the announcement next month! Let's hop BIG!

^^ Yeah I think I made him mad since I accused him of hating on the park. But whatever. And I'm excited for 2015. I really think something big is coming to Soak City. And I really hope 2016 is the year for our next coaster. B&M INVERT PLEASE

If VF does get a B&M I would prefer a Invert like almost everyone else here but after that I would prefer a floorless, wing and flyer in that order. A floorless provides more forces and a more thrilling ride than a flyer or winged coaster and VF needs a thrilling steel coaster. I like winged coasters and flyers about the same but would prefer a winged coaster because flyers take longer to load. If VF was a bigger park and had more coasters then a flyer might work but not right now in my opinion, the park has more pressing coaster needs. Carowinds is dropping hints it will make an announcement on 8-21-2014 for their new Giga coaster, I am wondering if VF will make their water park announcement that day or sometime that week also. I am curious to see what VF will get and how big it will be. Once we find out the details we will see how much CF thinks of VF as a 'growth' park.
