RCjunkie
^ Thunderbird looks like a pretty sweet launched winged B&M coaster. If the ride is as good as the promo video then I agree with you that it would be a great fit at VF. With the shorter trains of only five cars instead of the usual 8 like on X-Flight and Gatekeeper it looks like it can perform faster turns and hopefully more forces. But at a cost of 22 million I doubt VF would get something like this. Banshee cost 24 million for comparison.
garyman6
I just saw the announcement from holiday world, for their new B&M launched wing coaster. That is the type of ride valleyfair needs. A B&M, but yet something to set it apart from the rest ... Like a launched inverted coaster???[/quote] That's what I'm talking about! A Launched invert at 3100 to 3300 feet. That is within the realm of Valleyfair budget considering they are one of the growth parks in the chain. Launch it to a vertical hill with a twist so that on the turn going down your upsidedown. Sorta like Top Thrill Dragster, only shorter! Hug the trees, wrap around other rides, close calls with ground, people, buildings, etc! This could be done for around 20 to 23 million! The world's First Launched Invert "(insert name here)" Bring it on!

RCjunkie
I actually think Valleyfair has pretty good coasters. Renegade and Steel Venom are really fun in my opinion, and Wild Thing is an awesome roller coaster. It's got the longest air time hill, and it's taller, faster, and longer than Magnum XL 200. Everyone has there opinion. To me Wild Thing is a very average coaster with a very similar layout to Magnum. Its first drop hill has a little more air time than Magnum but after that Magnum is better coaster. The turn around is tighter and faster than Wild Thing and it also does not have nearly the trim on the back side which gives Magnum more air time on the bunny hills on the way back compared to WT. Plus WT is only 2 miles an hour faster and just because it is longer with it's mammoth break run at the end does not make it better. Magnum is also 7 years older than WT and still slightly better in m y opinion. Both are very average coasters now due to their age and what else is available today. I mean who wants to walk all the way to the very back of the park to ride the new coaster? It's a terrible place for a coaster in my opinion. They would need to somehow open up the back of the park, and maybe put some flat rides there, or remove thunder canyon to make the back of the park more spacious. Anyone who wants to ride a new coaster will walk back there, no problem. If Renegade, Steel Venom or WT were back there now people would make the trip, they just don't now because Excalibur is not that good of coaster. Maverick is at the back of CP and people flock to that ride. If it is a good ride build it and they will come. If they can fit Excalibur in there they can fit another coaster there in its foot print for sure, maybe just a bigger queue area if it is a good coaster and attracts more people. All parks also want you to go to the back of park so you can walk by more food stands, games and other attractions to get your $$$. Now if you want to talk about the BEST place for a new coaster then I would have to agree that Excalibur's spot is not the place compared to removing High Roller or Corkscrew and putting a new ride in either of those places. Those rides just received some new paint (CS) and wood word (HR) over the last 3 years so I don't see them being removed before Excalibur. The spot where the Dino's are now would be perfect at the front but they are not going anywhere either soon.

I personally like Wild Thing more than most enthusiasts seem to. The first airtime hill has good sustained floater air, and it has some decent positive G's in several spots. However, I do agree that the MCBR trims take away a lot of the second half's potential, and a few parts of the figure-8 could be considered "snooze zones", but all in all, I'd rather have Wild Thing than not have a hypercoaster. I just saw the announcement from holiday world, for their new B&M launched wing coaster. That is the type of ride valleyfair needs. A B&M, but yet something to set it apart from the rest ... Like a launched inverted coaster??? Technically, Valleyfair already has a launched inverted coaster in Steel Venom, so if they ever got a launched B&M, I don't think it would be a launched invert. A B&M invert with a regular chain lift would be just fine.

xACEx
I have been hearing that Valleyfair has plans to do a remake of the entire water park for the 2015 season? I heard they might be getting new slides and a new water slide snake pit package like at Dorney Park? Also heard they were going to take out the seating area over by the Subway restaurant by Mad Mouse to make more room for the water park and tanning area plus were the old Imax theatre was they could put some new water slides in there to. As far as a Valleyfair adding there 9th roller coaster will have to wait a couple of years. They do have lots of room down by the old pinic cove to put a new B&M coaster in there 3100 to 3900 feet. They could take out the restroom by the Monster and move it some were over to the new roller coaster area adding a new rest room. Valleyfair could do a huge investment by adding a new water park and a new B&M coaster in the same year? But unlikely. I would really like to see Valleyfair get there inverted coaster? But I could see them getting a B&M wing coaster to? Also with Wild Thing. Do you think Valleyfair should replace the morgan trains on Wild Thing and add new B&M hyper trains like they did with Steel Dragon 2000? Just and idea. Also could they replace the braking system at the end of the ride and add new quitter brakes like they have on Millennium Force? Just another idea for Wild Thing. madsecar
Xtreme swings were not running today at all. Most Likely because of the Cedar Point Skyhawk accident. I bet they are checking all the swings to make sure nothing else happens at valleyfair or any other park. Bummer

Cedar Fair had a average per capita sending of $44.10 in 2013, times at least 1 million visitors, equals $44,100,000 in average revenue. Amusement parks, and most companies in general, usually cash in at a 10% profit . Or in this case, $4,410,000. Most short term loans can double your money, hence why the most expensive expenditure the park took was 9.5 million, roughly 2x that amount. Now, it is not 100% impossible for any Cedar Fair park not to get a $20m attraction, the money IS there. However, they wouldn't make a good enough return investment with a park like Valleyfair. I can't see more than $12-15 million ever being spent on Valleyfair with its current cash flow.
valleyfairfanatic
I highly doubt we will be getting a coaster for 2015. I think 2016 will be the money year for a new coaster and maybe an expansion along with it. If it will bring an expansion as well i believe they will expand in the back of the park. Just a brief update about the supposed permanent haunt building. I was on high roller today and i saw the very flat sheet of concrete that Mr.Frazier tweeted about. I also noticed there were cement objects that appeared to be footers or a foundation of sorts closely surrounding the flat sheet of concrete. I though for a brief second it could be an early station but my doubt kicked in and thought of a permanent haunt building
VFVSGirl16
^ I was also thinking the station thing too. That would be really nice, but then I realized it's probably for a Haunt building. Although, nothing is impossible, you never know what could happen!! Another Haunt update, apparently rehire started/was tonight.
Bmckenzieee
Haunt update:Lots of changes! Don't want to reveal to much, but I can say there's one new outdoor maze/scare zone close to the front of the park, and the relocation of London Terror to a new permanent indoor structure by Camp Wekilou. Time to start speculating...

Bmckenzieee
Chateau will be returning for 2014! The new scare zone will be taking over a current attraction during haunt. Unfortunately I'm unsure about the announcement.

Also really exciting to know we're getting something new again this year. I feel like this is going to be a really good year for Haunt!

Where did you hear that Corkscrew is getting removed for a new coaster? I doubt that it's going anywhere for several reasons, mainly because is was repainted a few years ago. If a new coaster is going to replace an old one, it will most likely be Excalibur due to lack of popularity. As for a Raptor clone, I'd be happy if we got one, but garyman6 has reported that Dave Frazier (VF's GM) is trying to make sure that VF's next coaster is something unique. As for the removal of Subway and the old dining patio, if that's true, that's great because it is more room to play with for the SC expansion. Shame really, especially with how much downtime CP's has had over the past couple years. They are extremely fun rides. But when a man gets a concussion from a broken piece of a ride like this... I don't think anyone thinks a new coaster is coming next year with all the obvious signs after the removal of the IMAX theater. Everyone expects the water park expansion next year with a new coaster in 2016 or 2017. ....which im guessing will be in the cork area since thats going bye bye too...opens up alot of space for a nice raptor clone ..... I highly doubt Corkscrew will be leaving before Excalibur, they just re-painted it 3 years ago with the Camp Snoopy attraction. Corkscrew is still on the Fast Pass list when Excalibur is not so why would you remove a more popular ride than one that is not if they are still both operating properly? Corkscrew actually runs 2 trains more than twice a year and still has lines longer than 5 minutes for it so I don't see it moving for the next coaster. I am not saying Corkscrew doesn't need to be replaced (because it does too) but Excalibur needs to go first. For a Corkscrew VF keeps it running pretty well all things considered and the GP still rides it much more than Excalibur. Me too, it would be a shame for the park to lose a thrilling flat ride like that. It is the only flat ride I ride every time I visit. Not that I don't ride other flat rides at the park but this one for me is a must on every visit if it is operating.
CPSFMMCW
^^ first off, at the rate Valleyfair is at, they shouldn't be removing anything! This park should only be gaining stuff at opposed to removing any coasters.
RCjunkie
^ Works for me. But then the question I have for you is where do you put a new coaster at VF without removing an existing one?
madsecar
I'm pretty sure there is a lot of room in the park to place a new coaster. The plot of land currently occupied by DA is certainly large enough to fit a decent sized Invert, and if they move the maintenance building back, there is room there too. Does anyone know If there is land behind Excalibur and renegade that Valleyfair owns??
VF15
I believe they own some of the land behind Excalibur and Renegade, but it just goes deeper into the flood plain, and it looks like it would be hard to make a path to. I guess they could build one back there, but I doubt it. A new coaster behind High Roller is probably more likely, especially since a permanent Haunt structure might be going back there.
