Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I went to Valleyfair tonight for the first time this season to check out Route 76. The new area looks really nice! I decided to take a spin on Steel Venom only to find something interesting...The holding break wasn't on. Does anyone know anymore about this? I watched several cycles all of them didn't use the holding break.

That's strange. As far as I can remember, they've always used the holding brake on Steel Venom. Let's hope this isn't a permanent thing. I'd hate to see Steel Venom to get V2ed.

Although, Steel Venom usually goes down for maintenance for some time in August, so that might have something to do with it.

gary thanks for your info on the water park expansion sounds like it will be epic.. as for the 2016 rumor if its not a coaster i sware..... at this point its been soo long and were way over due for one. i could care less what company it is as long as it goes upside more than cork does..and yes announcements are usually mid aug or near end of the month.so that gives us two more weeks guys..

No problem, I wish I could reveal more but lets just say the rumor I heard, and according to my source has been confirmed, will make you happy! Unfortunaly we won't hear about it officially until sometime next year. When it is safe to do so i'll certainly let everyone know what I've learned.

Matt Ouimet, Cedar Fair CEO, stated in the August 5th Cedar Fair financial release that all the new park addtions will be announced soon including a record breaking attraction at Carowinds. I think the next couple of years will be Valleyfairs turn! Let's keep the speculation up!

I read that report and it said that the parks will be making announcements over the next several months . Maybe we wont get our announcement as soon as we thought.

That is terrible news. For a one trick pony coaster like Steel Venom taking away an element like the brake really affects the experience. I hope they do not make it like Vertical Velocity, VF does not need to go the route of Six Flags. I am going to the park tomorrow so I will give an update of what is going on with SV. If anyone goes today please update the rest of us.

What time of day did you ride it? I rode it close to park closing , and I noticed a man from maintenance was in the control booth too, so I was thinking it was just a temporary thing.

I rode it at about 10:30, so not too long after the park opened

If the rumor that garyman6 knows about will make ChevyExtrem28 happy, then it sounds like a new coaster could finally be in the works for 2016 ! I agree that as long as it is thrilling, not rough, and has some inversions, I will be satisfied.

Also, I might be able to swing by VF tomorrow, and if I do, I'll post the Steel Venom situation on here.

Am I the only one that really wants a wing coaster? It seems to me that nobody wants one. I think that an invert would be fun, but I like the wing coaster because I heard that each side is like a different ride. I love the look of the wing and it would give VF wonderful curb appeal. About SV, maybe if the brake is wearing out they could replace the straight spike with a twisty spike, like Wicked twister at CP. I think that would be more fun than a straight spike that reminds you "Hey, something used to happen here. Something's missing.".

So, I was on Facebook and Coaster Crew had an update on the new project at Carowinds. There is a teaser poster with a number to call if you see anything suspicious and to watch out for something behind the fence. I called the number and found it pretty interesting. Here is the number 704-943-2802. Call it and see what it says. I hope Valleyfair does the same kind of things, it's great to build excitement!

I would love to see VF get a winged coaster. I've ridden gatekeeper, and in my book they are very fun and thrilling. I think 2016 brings either a B&M invert, winged, or giga. At this point I'll take any new coaster VF adds!!

I will welcome any new coaster 2016 holds as long as it's not Vekoma. I would prefer a wing coaster over a giga or invert, but I would complain. After our next major thrilling coaster, I think a S&S Freefly would be awesome. That is a family coaster, something we really don't need right now.

I'd prefer either one (invert, winged, and giga) but there's an unfortunate height limit of 275 feet, so giga's off the list.. Also we already have a hyper, Wild Thing, that's PACKED with airtime.

I have heard that the height restriction doesn't encompass the whole park. Not sure if that's true or not. I wouldn't think that the height restriction would change much judging by the size of the park. Maybe we could get another 25-30 ft if it was designed right. I think we should be getting something where your feet don't touch anything (Wing, invert, floorless) before we get a giga. If we got a giga as our next coaster it should be a Dive .

If CF wants to ever do business with Intamin again, VF would be a good Mega-Lite candidate. It would be their second-largest full-circuit steel coaster.

Of course CF will work with Intamin again. As GCI Wooden said, they're just spending some time with B&M right now. CF has had phases with DH Morgan, GCI, B&M, and Intamin. All the chains do this. Six Flags is currently having a love affair with RMC. I'd love to see an Intamin ride come to Valleyfair. As I've stated before, the assumption of a B&M invert for VF's next coaster wouldn't be my 1st choice. I'd much rather see an Intamin Blitz or Mack Launch coaster.

Also, for whatever new coaster we get, don't discount the possibility of something from a manufacturer CF hasn't worked with before. VF got the first DH Morgan Hypercoaster and the first GCI wooden coaster in the chain.

it would be awesome if Valleyfair was the CF testing ground for RMC. Could you imagine a GCI and a RMC at the same park? I can dream right? I would want a B&M before another Intamin. Intamin is great but I really want a Wing (if you haven't realized from my previous posts).
