Philrad71
Wow! Very impressed with the POV's of both coasters. Superman really does blast a lot further up the towers and the backwards version does look a lot more intense. I am surprised that they are not keeping one side the same so they could offer two different experiences (for those that have never ridden, of course) like the S&S towers. Green Lantern definitely looks like a coaster that I would gladly pay the buck locker fee for, even though I am opposed to them. Even with cargo pants on, I could see losing everything in your pockets during that ride! I like the idea of CP and MM once again battling for supremacy in the coaster count. It is only going to benefit us coaster dorks in the end! Great job SFMM!
daveydo5172
According to the LA Times, yesterday, they are keeping both sides backwards for the first few months, then turning one side forwards again so they can offer both experiences! Midgetman82
^That would be a great idea in my opinion. My only question is if the forwards-facing car will be the lap-bar cars or the new cars (should be the old lap-bar ones)?
Calicoasters
^You guys need to get over the lapbars, they are dead! I just checked Six Flags website and they have Green Lantern's height requirement listed as 48 inches. This makes me very happy for all the little ones in my family that are years away from 54 inches.
SharkTums
^I'm guessing that's the opposite mistake as the whole Kids Coaster Height Restriction debacle!!!! Insane has a 55'' height restriction, in fact I'm pretty sure all of the ball coasters have a 1.4m (or 55") restriction and I can't imagine the ride at Magic having only a 48'' restriction. You know, in the case of Superman where there are no lateral g forces, I don't mind the over the shoulder restraints. In fact, with the float time you get at the top when facing forward, the over the shoulder restraints should allow for even more booty out of the seat time. Like on California Screamin' before they slowed down the last half, those bunny hills were so much fun. You got more air than would have been allowed with a lap bar. cooksta77
I just read the 48 height restriction to. I know some kids who would sh*t a chicken if they saw this ride at that height but glad to see it's that height. Now make a 35 height restriction and we're good. ScottBrown
After going on the Road to Cedar Point TPR trip next August and knocking out some of the big East Coast and Midwest Parks...My next trip has to be to get out to the West Coast and get to SFMM! The park looks AMAZING Well, if you can hold off a year, it looks like we may do another West Coast Trip in 2012....and with what looks like might be going on at knotts for 2012...you might want to wait a year! --Robb That is very exciting to hear

MayTheGForceBeWithYou
Okay, the ZS is custom...Insane isn't 107 ft tall... It's not custom. It's a clone of Insane. It seems that way, but Insane is 50m (about 164 ft). SFMM says the coaster will be 107.

coaster_bob
Looking at the pictures of the "new" Superman, I don't see Superman at the top of the tower any more. Sure, he could have been left off in favor of the bigger picture, but, if the trains are only running backwards, nobody would see him anyway. What I would like to see is for them to create a below-track platform for Supe so that when the car begins it's descent, Supe would rise up to greet the returning riders. Either put it just in front of the last "magnet hut" between the tracks, if there's enough clearance to avoid people reaching out to slap it, or off to the side of the tracks (dis-advantageous to the other side). Yes, it's one more element to break down, so maybe the alternative would be to stand him on top of the Ice Fortress above the tunnel exit. If they decide to turn one of the trains around to run forwards, then mount a duplicate at the top of the tower so everyone can see him no matter which direction they're facing. Probably dreaming, but who knows?
SharkTums
^That's a good observation. I'm guessing he would need A LOT of work to be put closer to riders though. I can only imagine how disgusting and faded he must be after being up there for the last what, 15 years?! cfc
I remember the park saying at WCB that they took Superman down to paint him, but would need a helicopter to put him back up on top.
andre8
Will the Superman height restrictions change at all? I wanna experience both types of rides. These coasters will be great additions to the park! I just wonder if Superman's speed will be anything close to 100 mph.
gforce532
Speaking of helicopters, wasn't the park going to get a helicopter tour attraction this year. What ever happened to that?
ebl
^^ To be honest, I don't think Superman will be going any faster unless there are changes to its launch system. It takes a lot of power to get the cars up to 100mph. As for the height limit, I hope it's 48" and not 54". These new restraints appear to be like the ones on other Intamin coasters that have 48" height limits, so I'd guess that will be the case. I was thinking about SFMM earlier and wondering about the flip-flopping of attractions at the last minute as of late. New coaster going in this year next to Deja Vu. No, wait, postponed till next year and now will be installed on the opposite side of the park from its original site---after land clearing has already been done, and will have a different name and theme. We all know that the parks read Internet forums, and I got wondering how much influence does that have on the decisions that are made? (The near-relocation of Demon Drop to Knott's was a good example.) I think it's a great idea to have a small ride or two close to the big ones. That helps to distribute the crowds more and gives Junior something to ride while Big Brother/Sister go ride the big ones. Awhile ago, I watched the promotional video for SFMM 2011 again, and I do look forward to riding The Green Lantern and Superman---Escape From Krypton. Definitely two solid rides. Hopefully something nice is waiting for 2012. Eric
