WFChris
I agree that SFMM does not really need any more inversions. We are and have for a very long time been in the lead on RCDB for inversions with 32. Not to mention you still go 'upside down' on Green Lantern and that ride has zero inversions. I would love for the new ride to have some serious airtime.
RCT3Bross
Just to add to that... Ask almost anyone living in another country that can only dream of one day visiting a bunch of amusement parks around the world. This park is almost always at the top of their lists! I must say I can confirm that. I wish to go to this park and can't wait to go. I'm a European and we don't have the major rides like Tatsu (we only have one flying, Air) nor we have anything like X2. Goliath also looks great and Riddler and Superman are sure two rides that I look forward too. We here always look at America to have the big toys but apparently not everyone appreciate them. I must note that I love a coaster with history, so the world first 180 degree looping roller coaster sounds like a must do for me.
robbalvey
Aside from Tatsu, the coasters are SFMM are the epitome of mediocre. Hopefully this ride changes that... Well most parks are like that, 2 or 3 world class coasters. 2 or great coasters, and the rest are average. Â i.e. Â SF:Great Adventure World Class: El Toro, Nitro Good: Bizarro, Superman Average: Batman, Green Lantern etc. LOL! In what crazy world is one of the more intense B&M invert layouts considered "average???" Have you ever been to Six Flags Great Adventure??? Â Seriously, were you dropped on your head as a child or something? Â --Robb "That should go in the dumbest things said on TPR thread." SharkTums
I think SFMM has a great collection of rides, as well as great ride experiences. Â I think you better replace 'rides' with 'coasters'. The park doesn't have rides, that's everyone's number one legitimate complaint about the place. It's purely a roller coaster park. Go to a park like SFGAd, Canada's Wonderland, Cedar Point, etc and see big parks that have different ride experiences. Sir Clinksalot
CA is spoiled by quantity, but not at all by quality. Â This. Â Again, until you've traveled a bit to ride coasters outside of CA you probably won't realize that there are SO many better "Amusement" parks than the ones we've got out here (Disney/Universal not being part of this particular equation). Â I certainly thought CA was the mecca for coasters before I started travelling out of state. Even my 14 year-old son has absolutely no desire to go to SFMM anymore. He's been totally spoiled. Â On our recent East Coast trip we visited 8 parks. Only one of those parks didn't have a hyper coaster. And every single one of the hyper coasters there I would place above California's only hyper coaster (yes, even Steel Force is better IMO). Â I've lived in CA my whole life but if you look at my list of top 20 coasters, only 1 is in CA (Xcelerator). People need to travel around a bit and then come back and tell me how spoiled we are in CA. Â I'd trade 1/2 of Magic Mountain for Intimidator 305 and the other half for El Toro in a heartbeat. Arkhamar
Haha, I love it!! Of course Six Flags Magic Mountain's coasters are gonna look 'mediocre' if you compare it to 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 big eastern U.S. side coasters from DIFFERENT parks. Not all of us have the money or means to travel around the States to experience each of those 'world class' coasters, and I am sure they're great! But like our European friend, if he could pick one park to experience the most variety of thrill coasters, SFMM is definitely on top of the list. IMHO, Cedar Point and SFGAdv are also tops. chickenbowl
California doesn't have many above-average coasters. It has lots of parks in a small vicinity, but nothing outside of that. There's no bordering states that have decent coasters like the East Coast. We have Disney which is great, Universal too, but I'm sure those parks don't really compare to their Florida counterparts. I feel like I'm stuck living out here. Â Coaster-wise, we lack variety. We have so many mega-loopers, the same repetitive coaster-type. (Silver Bullet, Scream, Riddler's, Batman, Viper, Medusa, Flight Deck, Kong, I'm sure there's more) Consistently, the best ranked coasters in the world have airtime, but for some reason the only airtime we have is Xcelerator's tophat, Ghostrider's old MCBR, Apocalypse's first drop in the backseat, and SC Giant Dipper. If you combined all of those moments, you'd get half the airtime that El Toro has. We are in dire NEED of something that can match Toro, Bizarro, NTAG, Skyrush, or I305 (although it doesn't have as much airtime as the others). Â Yet I feel like SFMM's new coaster will most-likely miss that opportunity for airtime as well. I hope I'm wrong guys. Â I'd love California to be that Coaster destination that all the TV shows and Fanboys make it out to be, but with what we have now, it just isn't that... Ed Farmer
Â I'd trade 1/2 of Magic Mountain for Intimidator 305 and the other half for El Toro in a heartbeat. Â And then, after you've ridden El Toro and Intimidator 305 ad nauseum for years like you probably have SFMM's coasters, you would probably trade those two for something else as well. I'm not saying that in an accusatory tone, it's just so common to run into people saying things like that in the coaster-riding hobby. This entire discussion is just a dressed up version of taking what you have for granted while lusting over what your neighbor (in this case on the opposite coast) has. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. It probably wouldn't be hard to find the exact same sentiment being expressed by someone on the east coast towards the west. I know here in Chicago, I'm guilty of it too. SFGAm is 45 minutes from my front door, but for a while now it's been 1-2 visits annually- sometimes no visits at all. SFGAm is typically looked at as a top 3 park in the chain. Â I've not been west of KC, Missouri, but when I finally do cross that line it will be with the intention of riding X, Riddler's Revenge, Ninja, Viper, Xcelerator, Ghost Rider, Top Gun (Flight Deck) and Vortex. That's probably not the same list that others would have, but some of those are at the very top of my coaster bucket list for years now. LaMapa
Let's cap it with this: SFMM is a good well-rounded overall coaster experience. It has a huge variety of coasters. But it's nowhere near the best of the best. It doesn't have airtime, and operations aren't the best. It's probably the best coaster collection on the west coast, but it isn't great. bottom_feeder_13
I'd trade every coaster in the park for something with half as much airtime as Skyrush.
RCT3Bross
If we are going back to Full Throttle then i must say this: I'm hoping Full Throttle is going to be a Intamin Dual launch, something like Cheetah Hunt that sure looks interesting. Manic Monte
If we're doing wish lists, I'd like a coaster longer than 4,000ft for a change. Â Multi launch, multi-element, something with a beginning, a middle and an end.
SoCalCoasters
If we're back to Full Throttle, then I have a question for people: Â Why exactly would Premier designing the ride so upsetting? Â Enthusiasts love airtime, and SFMM is so limited in that area, the thought is that Intamin would be the best choice to provide it given their history. I can't think of a single Premier built ride that offers insane airtime. Perhaps that could change? Going by the rumors, this could be their most expansive coaster yet. It's kind of obscure so I'm sure you never heard of it but it's called Revenge of the Mummy and it had excellent air time, imo.
Manic Monte
I've been on it, and it has a couple of nice airtime moments (it's a great ride). But notice I said "insane" air, like Skyrush or El Toro.
Gnome
^ aww I see, i was thinking you might have forgotten about it completely so I just wanted to mention it. But for me, I think if you can hit 3 - 4 good spots with a solid amount of ejector similar to what's on RotM, then this coaster would suffice. I don't know if SFMM necessarily needs a skyrush, but I agree it would be nice.
