PeoplemoverMatt Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I am surprised myself. I wonder what they are going to build next? What ever it will be I sure wont be finished til next season. I bet its a new coaster though. I say just build the Ancient Indian Burial Ground and get it over with. That plot of land is cursed, may as well build something on it that says 'this land is cursed, stay away'. -- PMM

ANYWHO...Im hoping we get maybe a good lookin Kiddie Coaster over there and some really nice flat rides. Well soon see how it develops...
Jew Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 ^^ I'm not sure what else I could say to respond to that post.
sixflagsmagicmountain Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I have to agree that the park is not as bad as it is made out to be. However the view on the park is that people are consistently shot in the parking lot (funny how these rumors start). So whether or not these rumors hold true they are going to keep people out of the park with this kind of reputation.... I hate that, there's always someone at school talking about how someone got shot or stabbed at Magic Mountain. It gives people a bad view of the park, even if it isn't true.
Eunuch Provocateur Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Wow... just...wow. In all my days, I never expected SFMM to actually REMOVE a roller coaster, much less TWO. I think that's my shocked reaction came with at least two expletives. I've completely forgotten about roller coasters up until this point, and, I must say, a lot just came flooding back (nostalgia et al.) when I saw the naked ground of Psyclone's footprint.
Tmcdllr Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 ^That's really not too bad...a name change would be easy! "Project X." It would be cool if they did change it...they'd also paint it like...black and green. I don't know, but it would be pretty cool. I'd have to agree that an overhaul when it comes to theming would be good for X. -Mike Not like that is going to happen but if by some miracle it did, it would have to be 3 colors, actually. Remember, there are two sets of track each with it's own color.
Tmcdllr Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Psyclone, you were the best at being the worst coaster in the world and for that, I salute you! You obviously have not been on Great America's Grizzly. The ONLY wooden coaster Psyclone was able to surpass. Yeah really! Take 1 boring coaster, make it rough, and you have Grizzly. It is absolutely the most horrible wood coaster on the west coast, at least. If you have not been on it, don't even bother. The Barney Oldfield Speedway, which runs underneath it, is actually more fun.
verticalzero Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I have not had the pleaseure and pain to ride "Grizzy", I wonder why Great America has not had it re-tracked to make it a more smoother ride, anyone have a "not 2 shaky pov" of it they can post. Mean Streak would be in the top 8 if the 1st drop brakes were removed.
Sean Menefee Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 GA's Grizzly isn't rough in my book, it's just slower then molasses. No amount of retracking can make this a better ride, it's just flat out boring.
thefox89 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Thank goodness that Psyclone is gone and now looking forward to a new coaster in it's place.
bgwfreak Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 What coaster was that again? Now maybe Vu will work since it's not scared by Psyclone being next to it. Any word on when Flashback will get the same fate?
waterviper Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Wow. This is devastating. Psyclone was my favorite ride at MM because it always provided a thrilling, bowel-loosening ride as opposed to the predictable and mediocre effect that the rest of the parks collection had after repeated rides. It's going to suck to have to travel farther to experience that out-of-control terror due to the abundance of people spoiled by todays new-fangled steel contraptions with their "smooth rides" and "up-to-date inspection information". You would be the only one riding it. Even then you are screwed because it requires 14 peeps to ride. So what would be the point? Tearing it down was the answer. I wont ever understand anyone who will not understand this.
bgwfreak Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I wonder why there weren't any SAVE THE PSYCLONE!!!11!!! petitions???? Hopefully they burned the trains as well.
Coasterboy2 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I really hope that kidtums ain't a reïncarnation from Psyclone!
daveydo5172 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 People keep stating they hope a new coaster goes up in its place! The point of tearing down Psyclone was not to put up a new coaster there. If they put anything up, will be a kiddie coaster and kiddie land, as they have hinted at. They dont need another new major coaster, steel or wood, at this point at the park. They need to refurbish what they have! Stop wishing for a new coaster, start praying for an improved park!
trcg721 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I don't expect any more major work is being done around the park. Starting next week the park will be open everyday Until September. What I would like to see SFMM do is to staff all the rides when we are open everyday, Hopefully the internationals are here by then. As for update, I hope they get those TVs running again. It would also be nice if they kept their workers up to date with rides closures in case the ride is closed and someone asked if it was open. There are many of other things they could improve. Lets hope thing get better instead of worse as we move on into the summer. Sincerely Andrew
ghost007jas Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Hopefully they burned the trains as well. That would be a poor idea since they use the Psyclone trains for Colossus backwards...
mcjaco Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 -Make sure all rides stay well maintained, that means inspecting the tracks each morning (which i doubt that they do.) Actually, I think by law they have to do this. It doesn't mean that the rides will always look pretty, but if their running within safetly limitations they can run them.
Tmcdllr Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Agree with mcjaco. Besides, how can you say that? Are you actually there every morning before the park opens to judge what their maintenance practices are or should be? Do you really think they would knowingly be that stupid as to risk letting the public go on a ride that is not operating "in a safe manner" as stipulated by the state of California and possibly get seriously injured and sue the park? You should think a little before saying something like that. A ride does not have to be all shiny and pretty to run safely. It can look like crap and still be safe too. Saying you want Tatsu to 'run AT LEAST three trains' is strange considering there are ONLY 3 TRAINS to begin with. X run more than two trains- that's funny. When has anybody ever in recent memory seen it run more than 2 trains? If memory serves there is always one in rehab so only two are usable. Actually I think there are only two trains anymore. And I believe somebody said on here that if they ran 3 trains on X the computer would have blocking problems. Even if they could, because of the long load/unload times the capacity isn't gonna improve by much. If you've actually waited in line for X you would know that.
mcjaco Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 ^ The trains were tarped and sitting on Colossus' transfer tracks as of Sunday.
TatsuXtreme Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Mod Edit: Inflammatory posts where you call people names, act like a jerk, and generally are rude WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!
TatsuXtreme Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Thank goodness that Psyclone is gone and now looking forward to a new coaster in it's place. im not
arrowfanman Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 ^ Somebody needs a time out. First of all, X quite literally can not run 3 trains. The downtime running 3 trians would make the ride less efficient than 2 trains. Second of all, Tatsu does NOT have 4 trains!!! I dont know where you saw the magical 4th train, but it doesn't exist. Hell--as of the moment, the ride only has 2 trains! The 3rd has already been sent back to B&M for refurb work. And the bulk of the time, Tatsu opening late is purely operational problems. Staffing, testing, leadership, etc. Not "maintenence inspection issues". Yes, the ride breaks down at opening, delaying the opening of the ride--but the bulk of the time, its operational. Please dont be so sure of yourself. And DEFINITELY do NOT call other people a "dumbass". I'm not sure what deranged source you're using for your claims, but the evidence seems to stack against you. Please calm down. -Jahan
Wes Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Everyone getting worked up about this needs to go outside and get some Vitamin Water or something.
ghost007jas Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 ^ Would you mind explaining why not instead of just throwing words out there.....
