P. 2239: Superman: Escape from Krypton permanently closed

Oh, just putting this out there for anyone going to the park this month, Lex Luthor is being refurbished until the end of the month.

Did something break? July isn't a really good month to refurbish a ride that just opened a year ago.

I havealso been pleasantly surprised by how empty the park has been lately. I visited on the 3rd (probably a pretty good day to visit), and YOLO had a 15 minute wait at 2:00 pm, and x2 had a 15 minute wait at 5:00 pm.So, not only was the park not too crowded, but what are normally the most popular rides turned out to have the shortest waits, with some lucky timing.

This may have been the first summer day when I managed to ride X2 3 times in an hour.

I would upload the pics, but my stupid camera is having some type of malfunction connecting to my laptop.

You should be able to just upload straight to the TPR server now from your phone. Just do it like you would through your computer. We need photos!

By the way, saw a guy in a YOLO shirt walking into Walmart the other day. Yep, not surprised.

I think it was scheduled maintainence. Like the could still operate the ride if they wanted to, but they wanted to fix some things to make the ride more reliable.

It doesn't really matter anyways. This week is an exception, but in us time of year it's always 100+° here and Lex Luthor won't run at temps higher than about 104.. So they might be trying to fix that problem before the August heat wave.

Hopefully they take care of the issue with the grease that's been leaking everywhere. Twice I've ridden it and either myself or someone else riding on the same carriage has had grease on their clothes at the end of the ride. When operators are approached about it, they open a drawer full of "wet-naps" and hand you a couple so clearly this must be a common occurrence.

^^No ones feet have been cut off so all has been well.

The first time I went to Lex Luthor, it was broken down. So, I decided to wait a few, then come back. Came back, it had just broken down a few minutes before. So, again, wait a few then come back. This time, I waited until the ride looked like it was operating, which it was... until I got there. Right when I got there, the operator told us that it had just broken down, this time not even a minute before I got there. Am I cursed?

Today? It's supposed to be down until the end of the month. Are you sure it wasn't just testing? Even that I'd be surprised to see if it was supposed to be down until the end of the month..

Long time reader, first time poster. Heading out to SFMM while vacationing from the east coast. I am planning on going on a Thursday in a few weeks. From reading through here, most of my questions have been answered. I do have a few I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on.

The last time I was at SFMM I believe Scream! was the latest addition. There have been some changes to say the least. When I was at the park then, I do remember doing X first to ensure it didn't break down later in the day and I miss my chance to ride it. It sounds like the more suggested tip is to try to hit X2 in the late afternoon now. Is the reliability notably better than it used to be? It seems to me it used to break down quite often. My thought was to still hit it first thing and then head to the other side of the mountain to hit the back side of the park before it got too busy.

On the topic of X2, it seems common among most that it is not an enjoyable ride. I don't remember it being horrible before, just more out of control, but I was a lot younger at that point. I will also have my wife with me, who has never rode it and probably a little less tolerant of a bumpy ride than I am. What is the best suggestions on making sure the ride doesn't rattle us too bad? Location on the train, inside or outside seat? Or is there just no hope?

I don't have any other questions currently but would appreciate any other suggestions people have for making the most of the trip. Thanks!

X2s reliability has greatly improved since its transformation. I'd say its just as reliable as the other rides in the park.

X2 is a love it or hate it type of ride. Personally, its my favorite ride in the park and one of the few rides in the park that IMO is worth a re ride.

For the best ride, ride it first thing in the morning before it has a chance to warm up. Sit towards the front of the train with the heavier person sitting on the outside seat. Make sure the restraints are very snug on your shoulders and chest.

Just took a new survey and it looks like some flat rides and a water ride for next year?

Take it here: http://feedback.sixflags.com/AdvisoryPanel/startsurvey.aspx?s=MC2013&

Has anyone brought up the fact yet that the one "African" name they suggest, "Shango", is Swahili for "chlamydia"?

And to think I thought was no rhyme or reason when the WWE wrestler portraying "Papa Shango" later became a pimp named "The Godfather".
