  1. ... if the holding brake on V2 got replaced and Chang came to great america!!??
  2. Talk to your advisor. Getting an MBA takes a long time and from what I've been told, it's better to get a degree, work for a few years and then get the MBA later. That way you can relate what you're learning to what you've experienced. The problem with that is that there's always the chance that you won't be able to go back to school because you'll be caught up with a company. I've talked to three people about this. Two of them got their MBA while they were working for Motorola, because they used to offer a program that allowed you to get your MBA while you were with them and they would pay for it. The other transferred schools after getting an undergrad in business and then got his MBA.
  3. I went was I was really little. I think I was 5 or 6 when hangman opened. My only memories of the park are the plane ride, Screamin' Delta Demon, the mine train, log flume, and the skycoaster they had. I was too short for hangman by about an inch, but I remember watching this really big guy with a cowboy hat and cowboy boots being too big for hangman's restraint, so they had to use an extender seatbelt. My mom always talks about how in the years that the park first opened, they would get season passes so that they could go every friday night to ride the old fashioned cars. The only things that I have from the park are two very small hangman t shirts and a brochure (pieces are missing). I'll have to ask my parents if they have any pictures of me at the park.
  4. I could see them removing Iron Wolf, just because it isn't very popular. I would love to see Iron Wolf run as a refurbished floorless coaster, but I don't think they would go through all the trouble for that. I don't think Chang would be at SFGAM until 2011, just because they would only have 6 months to take it down from SFKK and then reconstruct it at SFGAM. The only way it might work is if they already had started pouring footers by the end of october. Edit: I just read in the SFKK topic that Chang is being removed from SFKK. So it is possible that it could be a 2010 attraction. However, they may be removing it early just so that they have enough time to finish their waterpark expansion on time. They don't really need a coaster for next year. The park had good attendance all year and many people go to the park for the waterpark. A big waterpark ride would be great for next year. A lot of people have almost forgotten about Hurricane Harbor, just because they haven't gotten anything new since 2006. It still gets crowds, but it could use another big ride like Tornado to remind people that they should check out the waterpark.
  5. Park/ Guest pet peeves: -Talking in the preshow of the dark knight. I know it's a boring preshow, but what about first time riders who haven't seen it before. I always take people to the park and it's annoying when there are 15 year old kids talking the whole time or trying to be scary. I have to put up with moron kids at my pool, I don't need to put up with them when I have time off. -Making out in line. I have a girlfriend and we never make out in line at amusement parks/ water parks. We pay to for amusement park admission to enjoy the rides, weather, and spending time with each other. If I wanted some sweaty dude making out with his girlfriend rubbing up against me, we would have gone to a club. -Smoking in line. I'm really against smoking because I think staying healthy is very important. Being stuck next to a smoker in line is really annoying. -Line jumpers. If I just waited in line 30 minutes, so is the lady with nachos who's going to find her kids in the front of the line.
  6. Yeah. B&M are known for having very heavy trains. This works just fine with a steel coaster, because the track and structure isn't going to move very much over time. Wooden coasters are much different though. Wood is a very unique material, especially when used on coasters. Being in the California sun for all those years probably didn't help with the smoothness of the ride.
  7. It was a good coaster, but it's not the main reason that people go to the park. People go to Busch Gardens for the park experience (for the most part). There are people who go to Busch parks and don't even ride rides. Tearing out BBW might not have been the best decision, but it's what they chose to do and I'm sure they have plans for that area. I don't think tearing out the ride will hurt their attendance at all. If I were in the D.C. area, I would definitely visit the park next year, regardless of whether BBW is there or not.
  8. La Marche du Mille-patte will be very hard to fit on. I'm very skinny and I had trouble, but I think that was mainly due to my height, because my legs are very long (I'm 6' 3"). However, I only had half of the seat. Maybe you if sit against the one side with your feet on the other side you will have a better chance. It will probably depend on how badly you want to ride it. You might be able to push the lapbar down really hard and get your stomach over the bar. Some of my friends have done that before. I would try to ride it if I were you. It's a very unique ride (only two arrow mini mine trains left). For Goliath and Vampire you should be fine. The boomerang and the other vekoma coaster you should be fine on. Monstre you should be fine on (from what I've heard/ experienced they only run one side now). The indoor coaster you should be fine on. The standup might be a little painful if you're really squeezed in, but it's a cool ride. Toboggan you should be fine on, but it might be a little painful as well. Have fun
  9. It's nice that Carowinds is finally getting a hyper. It's the one thing that was really missing when I went there. I don't think that Intimidator will be a mind blowing coaster for enthusiasts, but I'm sure it will really help the park and it will be fun to ride. I'm not a huge fan of the parking lot scenery, but I guess they have to work with what they've got. The turn around looks really cool. I hope that it's as forceful as Diamondback's.
  10. How much time and money do you think they spent by using the same name/ logo for three coasters (four if you count Walibi World)? I think that Intimidator 305 will either be really good (top 10 steel) or not that great at all. It really all depends on how strong the airtime is. I think the layout is cool and it's nice that it's in the back of the park. I really hope they plant in some trees though.

  12. The Monster Mouse was being sandblasted and repainted in July, when Ben and I went there. I think the idea of having a drive in theater with some rides is a really cool concept. For us, we didn't have time to see the movie that we payed for, because we went to Mount Rushmore that morning and we had a 7hr 30min drive to Silverwood that night, which ended up being 10 hours instead. They won't let you in just to ride the coaster. You have to pay for a movie, which is about $7.
  13. We've stayed there twice and it's not cheap. We stayed at a comfort suites, right next to Atlantis. From my understanding, some of the cheaper hotels in the area are linked/ owned by atlantis, so that people on a tighter budget can still do all the atlantis stuff. I think comfort suites is only like $150-$200 a night (not bad compared to other places around there). We were able to go to the waterpark and do all the stuff at the resort. The food is a huge ripoff though. The reason I say this is not because it's high quality restaurant food that's expensive, it's that you buy a cheeseburger, fries and a drink and it's $15. These are high school cafeteria style cheeseburgers too. Also, they have a really nice all you can eat buffet with a stir fry station/ chef, chocolate fondu, and all kinds of fancy stuff and that was $40 a person!! I wasn't a huge fan of the resort. There are definitely better places that you could go to and get a much better experience.
  14. I'll be going to Amusement Park Drive In in about a week. I was wondering if anybody knew if the wild mouse is operating yet and if they let adults ride on the kiddie coaster. When I called last week, their recording said that "the coaster" is open, but I don't know which one they're referring to. When I called today the person that answered had no clue.
  15. For North America parks I'd say that the hard to ride coasters are the 3 vu's, cliff's, waterville USA, Mexican Parks, and any of the parks in Canada excluding La Ronde, Canada's Wonderland, Marineland, and Playland.
  16. We used to always bring home much worse stuff than that from the carnival. They had framed pictures of models in swimsuits and stuff like that.
  17. They should just make signs similar to KK's that states that the train might rollback or stall on top occasionally. They could just spend the money to build a staircase to the top so that they can push it over when this happens.
  18. This is a really good topic and I need some info on these parks. What I've found out so far is that Jungle Jack's is $6 for an all day wristband and if you go to the waterpark, it's $29.99 which includes rides and zoo. It's $5 to park. When I called up the park they said that they're waiting on parts for Sea Dragon, so right now it's not operating. I asked if it would be open in two weeks and they transfered me to the head of maintenance and he wasn't there. I'm trying to figure out a two day trip to the King's Island area. The second day of our trip would be at King's Island with a lunch break outside of the park and a quick run to Coney Island. The first day is up in the air. My two options are: 1) Jungle Jack's (and waterpark) and Camden Park 2) Fun Fore All, Wisp Resort, and Camden Park If anyone knows about buying ride tickets at Coney Island, that would be great. Worst case I'm stuck paying $12 for two rides on the coaster. Lastly, if anybody who lives near Jungle Jack's has any information about Sea Dragon that would help a lot.
  19. 36"-54" I didn't bother asking about if I needed a kid. I'm pretty sure they won't let you ride even with a kid though. I checked back over there and saw a train full of all kids with parents in the exit. Usually parents will ride with their kids if they're allowed to. I did some research on it. It's an Allen Herschell Little Dipper model. At all the parks I've been to I've only gotten on one of these- it was at Little Amerricka. My experience with these is that they won't even let parents ride with their kids.
  20. I just got back from Elitch Gardens a few minutes ago. I'll give a mini park review, but not a full trip report. So I was really looking forward to this park, just because it is one of the few former Six Flags parks that I have not been to (only missing Discovery Kingdom and Mexico). I got to the park at 8:45am, because they opened at 9am today. I was very impressed with the employees during the first hour I was there. I managed to get on everything except the kiddie coaster and half pipe within the first hour. They opened up Twister II about 45 min after opening and Half Pipe didn't open until about 11am. Half Pipe was open for about 20 minutes and then closed down again after that (they cleared out the line too). I happened to get to ride it in that 20 minute operating interval. I missed out on Ghost Blasters unfortunately, but due to time/ money constraints it was worth not riding it. I would have had to pay $35 for a taxi otherwise. My observations: -They had everything operating except for their rapids ride and maybe some flats. -The ride operators were very friendly for the most part. Some were too friendly (trying to by funny by being annoying on the microphone). -Their SLC (Mind Eraser) was very rough compared to the other 8 that I've been on. I rode in the front row. -There were a ton of 8th graders and freshmen in high school, because of a band day type thing at the park. -They are very strict on maximum height restrictions (Half Pipe, kiddie coaster). -They never updated the music clips for their games. The clips are from 2001 if I had to take a guess. -The waterpark looks very nice. From what I noticed, they have a stingray (halfpipe), fast body slides, toilet bowl, large family raft slide, and much more. -The skytower was closed, but the ferris wheel has a nice view of the park and waterpark- perfect for picture taking. I'll give an update for Lakeside, Lagoon, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, and possibly some kiddie coasters in the area. Time for me to get some Chipolte!!
  21. ^ Wow that's not good. I hope they make it through July. I'm interested to find out what Freestyle music is.
  22. It's really your call. There isn't an official way to count, because so many people disagree on what counts and what doesn't. For your question my opinion is that only major relocations should count. For example Steel Phantom --> Phantom's Revenge and Buzzsaw Falls --> Powder Keg. Those two are pretty much two totally different rides and they only kept a small portion of the old track. I've never been on rides with minor changes (ex Batman and Robin the chiller or Demon), so I don't really have an opinion on that. For other things such as Water coasters, alpine, and butterfly, I count all of those. I only count relocated coasters once, even if I rode it at multiple locations. Hope this helps...
  23. I've been there twice. Once in 2006 for an entire day. My second time was this past summer just for an hour to ride SROS after going to the Great Escape. On my last trip we only got to ride SROS once and then the park was closed. I'm not really into flat rides or water rides, but I do know that they have a SWAT type ride and typhoon, which is supposed to be a really cool water "coaster." Typhoon is very similar to Deluge at SFKK from what I've observed. Coaster-wise, SROS is my favorite coaster. It's packed with airtime and it's just a really fun ride. I've been on pretty much every big coaster in the United States, and this one is my favorite. All the other coasters are mediocre, except for Batman maybe. I've heard a lot of bad reviews about the park, but personally I like it. So don't let someone else's bad review's ruin your day.
  24. This is a good addition for Hersheypark. When we were there in July, the Boardwalk was a madhouse. There were so many people that ever single lock_er was full and we had to take turns riding Roller Soaker, so that our cameras wouldn't get wet. The surf ride looked pretty cool, but I didn't bring a suit with. If you're going to Hersheypark this summer I'd definitely recommend going to the boardwalk for a few hours.
  25. Yeah, that's why I'm not upset at all. The one at Rye Playland isn't much better plus I'm not a huge fan of flying coasters.
