  1. I wouldn't get too excited about flags popping up. Especially if they're that far apart from each other in the park and there are only 3. I have nicor markers all over my front lawn and I'm not getting a new coaster.
  2. Nice videos. It's really too bad that the pipeline never made it into amusement parks. It looks a lot better running than just from looking at pictures of it. Is there any reason that it didn't make it into any parks?
  3. If you're going to head down to Busch Gardens Europe from SFGADV, I'd just do SFA anyways, unless you're taking a ferry. I was originally just going to SFA for the credits, but I ended up really liking Superman. You could easily talk your friends into SFNE by telling them it has one of the best steel coasters in the world. You can talk them into SFGADV by mentioning that it has one of the best rated wooden coasters in the world and that it has the tallest and fastest coaster in the world. If you guys get season passes for Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks the trip probably won't cost you too much compared to a trip where you're going to a lot of parks that aren't owned by a large company that offers season passes.
  4. What is SFEG? Thanks nolan. I make one post and you're on my case. Anyways, SFMM is on the right track. Nice job.
  5. Thanks for all the updates. This topic was very useful in planning my spring break trip to all of the southern California parks. After my trip I've been to about 80 parks and SFMM is definitely one of the best ones I've been to. I was expecting a park that just had a few good coasters, but I was completely wrong. Magic Mountain is probably the best SF park out of the one's I've been to (haven't been to SFEG or SFDK). I'll try to do a photo trip report in the next month. I know I posted this a little off topic, but I figured that this is the topic that most of the Magic Mountain employees read and I wanted them to see this. Keep up the improvements!! -Eric
  6. X2 looks great, especially with the new trains, but we've already paid for our airfare and hotels. Also, I'm hitting up all of the parks in Southern California with the exception of smaller parks with smaller coasters, so I don't mind missing a few coasters this time around considering that I'll be riding 35+ new coasters. SFMM is such a big park that it seems very difficult to ride everything in one try, so I have no problems returning in a few years to ride the coasters that I missed. Thanks for your advice though.
  7. I'm very happy to hear that Dejavu is running again. I'm going to California for the first time in a couple of days and the main purpose for the trip originally was to ride Dejavu. I wanted to make sure that I could get my ride on it, just in case it were ever removed like the other two. Does anybody know if there is a possibility of soft opening on X2 in the near future? I know that they said Memorial Day opening, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for all the updates everyone.
  8. This event sounds awesome. Six Flags Magic Mountain has really stepped it up with these events. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend this one.
  9. The guy who owns the park seems like a really nice guy. He presented at NCC and he was telling us all kinds of funny stuff about all of the stuff he had to go through to get this coaster approved. Supposedly the campground owner is the one who kept them from building this coaster for so long. They originally started planning with CCI in the early 90's. This coaster looks great. I can't wait to ride it.
  10. I entered three names. I wonder if they'd fly me out there if I won the contest.
  11. Thanks for the update Colin. By the way, did Colossus or Superman The Escape have both sides running? I'm trying to get a credit estimation figured out for my spring break trip. Sounds like you had fun.
  12. We might be able to push it to an hour. The real reason that we're going is because my chubby friend wants some spaghetti sauce.
  13. You bring up a very good point. Holiday World is in the same time zone as Chicago, but some of the hotels nearby are in a different time zone (an hour ahead), so be very careful about that, especially if you're trying to get to the park at opening from your hotel.
  14. Well this is where it gets interesting. I've been to Kennywood and about half of the parks on the entire trip, but my friends haven't been to many of the parks. So I really want to go to the smaller parks and tey want to do the bigger parks, so we're doing both. I went to Kennywood last summer and was able to get on everything multiple times in about 3 hours. We've cut Idlewild and here is our plan: -Leave Chicago very early -Get to Kennywood at noon or 1-ish (stay 3:30) -Lakemont (5:30-7) -Delgrosso's (7:30-9) We're not really the type to spend a lot of time at smaller parks and "take in the park experience." We just like riding the coasters, taking pictures/ video, buying souvineers, and going off to the next park. The first day of our trip has to be crammed in like that just because everyone has different parks that they want to do and we can't add on another day to the trip. I know this isn't even my topic, but thanks for all of the advice anyways.
  15. I know a bunch of ride ops at the other Great America and they're some of the most responsible ride ops that I've ever met even though they started when they were 16. There are also some ride ops I've seen who are much older than them and the older ride ops are boring and are very unfriendly. Nice job. I'm sure you'll have a fun summer doing that.
  16. I think that it helps that they're on good terms with each other. Didn't Astroworld have problems with the Astrodome owners? At least Great America has some good rides (haven't ridden them).
  17. I was wondering the same thing. The Dark Knight is being heavily themed, so to the average amusement park go-er they are two seperate rides. The park president explained that the reason they used a wild mouse is because they wanted a ride that could pull quick manuevers and that they could work with for the theme. I think that the experience will be more of a dark ride (almost like a electronic target shooting ride) rather than a coaster. I forgot to ask if they planned on heavily trimming the ride in order to allow more time to take in the theming. Before this was explained, I wasn't expecting much from the ride. Now I'm pretty sure that it will be a good addition and will add a new type of experience to the park.
  18. I'm doing a big east coast/ PA trip in 2008 and we're planning on doing Kennywood, Lakemont, and Del Grosso's in the same day. I hope that we can fit it all in. We're thinking about doing Idlewild if we're ahead of schedule after kennywood. Does anybody know if Del Grosso's sells their sauce in grocery stores?
  19. It really depends on whether or not you're the type of person who likes enjoying a full day at each park or if you just want to ride each coaster once or twice and then go on to the next park. What I would do is spend one day at KI (prefferably any day mon-thurs). That night I would drive to the SFKK area and stay in a hotel room near the park. The next day hit up SFKK for 3+ hours and then spend the rest of the day at Holiday World. Have fun
  20. Drop Zone- PKD or Acrophobia
  21. One time someone peed their pants while I was on Superman. I was on the train in the brake run so we were stuck there for 10 minutes while they cleaned it up. Nice find.
  22. Griffon is a great ride. I was VERY suprised that Griffon was as good as it was. For some reason I didn't like Sheikra as much. I rode sheikra in 2005, so my memory is probably just off a bit and I probably let the busy park that day interfere with my opinion. And this is coming from a guy with a kid!! Shows how bad of an addition it was. I think that the wiggle's "fad" will die out in a few years and they're going to be stuck with an area that nobody likes.
  23. Wiggle's World at SFGAM. I like marathoning the big red planes when all of the good stuff in the park has long lines, but besides that it was a total waste of money IMO and it ruined the Eagle tent.
  24. I have a bunch, but I'm keeping them. I have to agree with you on the ADD thing. That's why I have so much coaster crap that I have no idea what to do with.
