I'd love to do a coaster marathon like that. How'd you guys get registered for it and how'd the whole thing get set up? -
I was at SFGAM on columbus day and yesterday (friday the 13th) and Dejavu was closed both days. I think it's a staffing problem rather than a mechanical problem. This year they've had it running pretty good (with a late opening sometime in june). I haven't seen this ride run a whole year without being down for at least a month since it opened. This year and last year they've gotten pretty close to a full year of operation. I have to agree that FF this year is really bad compared to last year. There are less people in Necropolis/ throughout the entire park scaring this year.

I'll just give you a quick review on a few bigger parks that I've been to in the US. -Orlando Area: lots of amusement parks here. If you have at least 4 days then you'll be able to get a lot in with little driving compared to doing a cross country trip. All the parks are near each other in orlando and busch gardens is only 2 hours away. -Six Flags Great Adventure: good amusement park with a lot of intense coasters. A close tie with Cedar Point ride wise. -Cedar Point: another good amusement park with a ton of coasters. They have a new coaster for next year, which will give you an advantage if you go there rather than Great Adventure. -SFGAM: an OK amusment park. It's sort of been run down in the past few years, because a lot of the rides have had downtimes, really cocky ride operators, and they haven't gotten a new coaster since 2004. They haven't gotten a GOOD coaster since 2001. -Paramount Carowinds: a really nice/ clean park with a bunch of good rides. I don't like flying coasters and I still enjoyed the park. They could also use a new coaster, because a lot of the coasters are medium sized, but still a really fun place to go to. For you I would recommend trying to go there when you visit your family in atlanta, because it's only 4 hours away, which isn't too bad of a drive. -California Parks: I haven't been to any cali parks, but from what i hear they're pretty good. There are a bunch out there, so the selection would be hard to do. -Pennsylvania Parks: I've been to Dorney, Hershey, and Knoeble's, and they were all a lot of fun. It's really nice out there in the mountains, so the driving is kind of fun also.

Thanks for all the advice. If the trip works out I'll post a trip report.

Thanks for all the help. And yes the cruise is out of Barcelona. We're either flying into Madrid of Paris now, so I'll just have to wait and see which city we're flying into before I can plan all the parks. I still don't get why we have to do a cruise in spain. Germany would be much better. There are more coasters and I talk prety good German.

So Shapiro gets a 30% raise...

I'm not directing this towards anybody, this is just my honest opinion. I think that if he's getting a raise it's his and SF's own business. If anyone on this site got a raise at their job there wouldn't be a forum full of people discussing whether or not you deserve it. Even IF he doesn't deserve it, he's still getting it and there's nothing anyone else can do about it. I don't think that paying SF workers or higher up people in the SF chain more is gunna affect the parks too much. My comment isn't directed towards anyone, so nobody take it personally or start arguing. -

Extreme headchopper/mauler?

Maybe because it's been abandoned for so many years the overhead beam shifted down a few feet over the years. -
I was just at Michigan's Adventure this year, I thought it was an ok park. The park was nice, but still needs a lot of developing (which they have plenty of room to do). Shivering Timbers was awesome, but a main part of the ride for me besides the airtime was the fact that it's an out and back coaster that stays away from midways and large areas of people for most of the ride. I like a coaster more when it's a terrain coaster or doesn't go through a crowded midway or anything. Once they start to develope the park out towards the turn around of Shivering Timbers, the ride's atmosphere will go down for sure.

Thanks for all the responses. I just needed to check to make sure that none of the parks were in ghetto's or anything. BTW, is there a maximum height restriction on Stunt Fall? On rcdb it doesnt say anything, but the two dejavu's i've been on both have a 6'4" height restriction which i just miss by two inches. Hopefully I won't grow any more by next year.

There's a slight (60-75%) chance that my family will be going to spain next august for a cruise. What I'm trying to do is talk them into the coaster portion of the trip like I usually do. If we were just going to another state it would be perfectly fine to go a few hours out of the way for some coasters, but in spain we don't know what the neighborhoods are like, how safe it is at some of the parks, how expensive it is, and the addresses (rcdb doesn't have exact addresses for a few of the parks). So I figured you guys would know best, because there are a lot of people on this site that have been out of the US on coasters. So any information would be great. Here are the parks I was thinking (btw, if you have any other parks that I dind't list that are good and near these parks can you post them?): -Terra MÃtica -Parque de Attraciones de Madrid -Parque Warner Madrid -PortAventura Thanks very much
