I was wondering if I'm able to make it out to California for spring break (march) would any TPR members want to meet up at Six Flags Magic Mountain or Knott's? I thought I'd throw this idea up in the air ahead of time so that if I am able to make it other's could plan in advance. If we go out to California, my whole family will be going, but I'd be doing a few of the parks on my own. So is there any way that Robb and Elissa could plan a TPR meet-up at SFMM or Knott's on whatever day I'd be going if I told them ahead of time? I know that this idea sounds kind of annoying, but I'm just trying to figure it out ahead of time so that I can have some people to chill with. -Eric

I try to wear shirts from parks very far away from the current park I'm visiting to avoid conversation. I also try not to wear shirts from popular tourist areas (disney, universal, etc). Then if I run into a coaster enthusiast who I don't know, they'll have a good guess that I'm a coaster dude.

That would be a tough decision for me. I was at both parks for the first time about a month ago and they were both awesome. Six Flags America wasn't the best for a family atmosphere, but they had some good coasters. Superman- Ride of Steel was awesome and had tons of airtime (top 10 steel coaster in my opinion). Busch Gardens had a ton of stuff for the family to do, but the coasters weren't as good as I was expecting. I was very disappointed with Apollo's Chariot. Big Bad Wolf was about the same as I expected, along with Alpengiest. Loch Ness Monster and Griffon were both better than I had guessed. It was very very hot when we went (105 degrees at Six Flags America) so be prepared for that as well.

Maverick - Is it worth the wait?
sixflagsguy5 replied to jason10's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maverick was definately worth the wait. I rode it in June and waited 2 hours for front row. The line moved quickly, but we had to wait through two breakdowns. Maverick has everything a good coaster needs in my opinion, besides height, a big drop, a zero g-roll, and a cobra roll. The ride was very forcefull in all directions. I have it rated as my #2 steel coaster out of the 200+ steel coasters I've been on. -
Cora's Midwest Sketchbook TR!

You're quite skilled. I've never seen a TR like that before!! -
I was thinking of doing the Europe trip with my coaster enthusiast friend from Florida. I haven't ridden any coasters outside of the US, but I was wondering if Disneyland Paris and Phantasialand have enough things to do to keep us occupied for three days. Also, when the flyer says three days, does that mean three full days? Also, I will only be 17 at the time of the trip. I've never met the TPR crew, so what determines whether or not someone under 18 is approved by the TPR crew? Sorry for all the questions. -Eric

What are your TOP TEN COASTERS
sixflagsguy5 replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have trouble comparing wood to steel. Top 10 Steel Roller Coasters 1- Superman Ride of Steel (Six Flags New England) 2- Maverick (Cedar Point) 3- Goliath (Six Flags Over Georgia) 4- Storm Runner (Hersheypark) 5- Millennium Force (Cedar Point) 6- Kumba (Busch Gardens Africa) 7- Mr. Freeze (Six Flags Over Texas) 8- Superman Kyrpton Coaster (Six Flags Fiesta Texas) 9- Incredible Hulk (Universal Studios Islands Of Adventure) 10- Top Thrill Dragster (Cedar Point) Top 10 Wood Roller Coasters 1- Voyage (Holiday World) 2- Boulder Dash (Lake Compounce) 3- Shivering Timbers (Michigan’s Adventure) 4- Hades (Mt. Olympus) 5- Avalanche (Timber Falls Adventure Park) 6- Raven (Holiday World) 7- Beast (King’s Island) 8- Legend (Holiday World) 9- Son Of Beast (King’s Island) 10- Renegade (Valleyfair!) -
It sucks that only one foot could get reattached. I was hoping that they would be able to reattach both but unfortunately that isn't the case. I'm still very suprised that this accident happened. I always thought that the Intamin drop towers were 100% safe. Giant Drop at Six Flags Great America is still closed as of last night. One of the cars is only halfway up the tower with the inspection car on top of it.

This is very unfortunate and I hope that the girl will be ok. I think that it's ridiculous how parks try to pass the blame whenever an accident happens. People have fallen out of roller coasters at many parks and the parks always try to pass the blame. Usually they'll say that someone stood up or used the restraint in an unsafe way. In this case SF can't pass the blame to anyone. I already see that they're trying to pass it to Intamin and I think that's ridiculous. Even if Intamin told them never to inspect the cables, I think it's common sense to inspect the cables to make sure that they haven't worn.

A new way to ride Stealth
sixflagsguy5 replied to piers's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They should do that on a standup coaster and show a little bit more. -
Best Journey to Atlantis
sixflagsguy5 replied to coastercrazy216's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've ridden the one in Orlando, seen the one in San Antonio, and never been on the one in San Diego. The one in Orlando was pretty good. I've been on it twice and it's a fun little dark ride/ water ride/ coaster. The one in San Antonio looks cool. It has some theming, but it's so short that it doesn't have a storyline or anything like the one in Orlando. -
Disney in Missouri?
sixflagsguy5 replied to Swoosh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It seems very unlikely to me. I don't think that they'd spend that much money for an area like that. I guess you never know though... -
I think it's pretty funny how everyone keeps posting their homepark as the best family park. Great Adventure (when I visited in 2005) didn't seem to have that good of "family areas." The areas were more kiddie and just had a ton of small rides that only really little kids would like. You could tell her that skull mountain is really small and is just an indoor theming monorail type thing if you want.

How many times the same ride in a day ?
sixflagsguy5 replied to mingsai's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I rode Avalanche at Timber Falls around 30 times one day. I have a few friends who have ridden it around 100 times in one day. I've also ridden American Eagle about 20 times in one day. -
If she doesn't like roller coasters, then no. You'll just be tempted to ride all of the coasters and she'll wanna do other stuff. We went to CP in 2002 and there wasn't much for my little sister to do besides the circular kiddie rides. My mom had to wake up one of the ride ops so that my sister could ride one of the rides. I'd say Busch Gardens Africa if she likes animals. They have a few coasters that you could ride and then they have a ton of animals everywhere. Your best bet would be to get her into coasters somehow...

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
sixflagsguy5 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't think that they'll put in a trick track for SOB, but I'm guessing that they'll put in some sort of bend to the left, in order to replace the loop.
