I've been in ACE for 3 or 4 years now and after my membership expires in two years, I'm not renewing. It's a total wastle of money and you can get into their events with a guest. The events that they have really aren't all that great anyways. The ERT is nice, but it's all just a bunch of old fat farts who aren't social at all. That $180 that I'm spending for a three year membership could easily pay for half or one third of one of my trips for next year. The one nice thing about the events is that most of them are on saturdays, so if you're planning a trip with friends, you can go to the event on a saturday. That way you get ERT and don't have to wait in long lines during the day for the big rides. I'm hoping that after awhile a lot of the older people who run ACE will leave or not be in control so that the organization can become more fun and have trips instead of single day events.

Opryland U.S.A.

I have family in Tennessee and I went there as a kid every time we visited. When I was about 4 or 5 I remember hangman being open and I waited in line with my dad for it. I was too short so he rode it alone and there was this really large guy riding it so they had to use an extender seatbelt. My dad told me that it was ok that I couldn't ride, because I would be able to ride it the next year. Of course the next year the park was gone. I remember very little about the park except riding the screamin' delta demon and riding the mine train in the front of the train while my dad rode in the back and waved to me in the helix. I have two small hangman shirts and a patch, but that's about all. I had a map similar to the ones posted on page 1, but I'm not sure if I still have them. -
Gas Prices where you live

$1.66 It's too bad that it's not coaster season. I could do some pretty cool coaster roadtrips for really cheap. -
^ Lmao!! That's awesome... Hmm maybe because Six Flags isn't the backbone of America's economy?

Why You Shouldn't Sneak Cameras on Rides...

Nice job. I wonder if they would ever consider playing clips like that in line for coasters (without blood and people dieing). -
Two things for me: First thing is I have a track meet at iowa state tomorrow and my new pole hasn't come in yet for pole vauilting, so I either have to jump on a really soft (bendy) pole and not jump as high or I can try to get up on a bigger pole from a longer run which I haven't done this year. I need to jump 15'6" to travel with the team and I've only jumped 15'1" so I'd like to go on the bigger pole and jump higher, but it scares this crap out of me. Second thing is my roomate!!!!! ahhhh. He's a such a -bag. He's only taking 12 credits and he's already taken calc 1, so he really doesn't have to do that much work. He wakes up at noon. Goes to a few classes, comes back, plays call of duty across the hall, gets dinner, comes back, plays more call of duty, and then goes to bed really early. Talk about a major slacker. How does he expect to get an engineering degree by being that lazy? Plus his girlfriend looks like a dog- seriously, if i had to chose I would rather make out with my black lab (no joke).

Thanks a lot for the travel tips. I have no idea where I'm going next summer, but I'll definitely keep everyone updated. I'll write a PTR if I go to Mexico so everyone who helped me knows how it went. Don't worry- If I go I won't stick out as a tourist/ easy target. I won't have on a sombrero and a fanny pack and all kinds of touristy stuff that a typical american would buy. I'll just dress normal. I would imagine that a thief would go for somebody who isn't very well built or someone who is medium height, so I'll be fine. I'm very satisfied with the help I've gotten. When I first posted this I was expecting to have 20 replies from people who had no idea what they were talking about

This looks really good. I never was able to find any pictures of the full layout, so it's nice seeing the almost completed ride. At first I didn't realize that the ride will have more after that midcourse brake run. I like how after the pretzel loop the ride goes right back through the pretzel loops instead of going around it like superman. I've been on a decent amount of flying coasters and I've never been a big fan of any of them besides Tatsu. I've never been disappointed by a seaworld coaster before, so I'm sure this will be a lot of fun. I wasn't planning on going to orlando this year, but now it's a possibility. Maybe I'll wait a few years until disney adds something new.

I just did the wood. It took me about an hour. I won't have enough for the steel- it's too hard for me to compare steel coasters. Mine was something like: -top steel- 1) El Toro 2) Voyage 3) Boulder Dash 4) Ravine Flyer II 5) Dania Beach Hurricane 6) Hades 7) Raven I forgot the rest after that. I rated zeus high this year, because it was running really well at the ACE event this summer. Hades wouldn't be as highly rated if I hadn't have ridden it with the lights on.

I think that PAX did a very good job with their flyers. Much better job than some other companies did. PAX seems to make some very unique, medium-sized designs. I can see one of their coasters coming to a smaller US park like Beech Bend or a beach park. -
I'm sure you knew this question was coming from me... Do you plan on driving 10,000 miles and just driving each day or doing cool stuff on the way such as coasters? Good luck Colin. If you're coming to chicago and you need somewhere to say for free give me a call. -Eric

2009 Season Hype...
sixflagsguy5 replied to jason10's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1) Beach Bend, Alabama Adventure, Dollywood, Lake Winnie, and KI. 2) Possible Elitch Gardens and Lagoon train trip. 3) Northern California to get all the credits in (I think V1.5 doesn't have too much longer and same with Great America). 4) Getting to 500 coasters -
I like the Dejavu comment I was very surprised last spring when I went to SFMM during spring break and they had Dejavu running. Magic Mountain seems to be doing a much better job than SFOG and SFGAM with keeping Dejavu running smoothly. Right now for us coaster enthusiasts it's boring watching construction because they're doing all the groundwork. Once they get all that stuff done the construction of the supports will take off, considering a lot of them are already put together.

If my brother did that I would have left him and stayed for the last ride of the season on Chang or Thunder Run. Sounds like a fun day. Hopefully they can get something new. I'm sure you quickly ran out of things to do there, especially on such a dead day.

Thanks a lot. I won't know if I'm going until April or May, but all of the information is very helpful.

"Coney Island: A Fond Fairwell"

Awesome video. That's exactly how it was this summer. I was expecting him to be talking about how great the cyclone is and then after riding it be like wow that just sucked. It really is a dump though. It's in a really bad neighborhood and we were in and out of there in an hour. -
Universal Studios Dubai
sixflagsguy5 replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was watching a thing about Dubai last night on Discovery Channel (I think) and it was called "Impossible City." I had no idea how much stuff was going on there. I think it's really cool how basically there are almost no limits and they're trying to go for all these cool new designs with everything they do. I'm surprised that there isn't more going on with coasters out there already. If there aren't many limits on what can be built, I think it would be cool to see what coaster/ thrill ride designers could do without having as many guidelines and restrictions as they do in the US. BTW, anyone else think Ski Dubai is pretty cool? -
I think now that they've filtered out a lot of the smaller parks that were costing them money to keep, they'll be fine. If they're planning on selling any more parks, we'll know which ones if there's a small park without anything new being added or any park upgrades. I'm worried about La Ronde and Six Flags America. La Ronde was extremely dead when we went there this year and a lot of rides were closed down, even during the nice part of the day. I haven't been to Six Flags Mexico or Discovery Kingdom, but I'll definitely go to one of those parks this year just in case they close.
