  1. Seems very doable to me. Here are my thoughts on each park: For SFGAM you should only have problems in the rain for the Whizzer. I've seen Little Dipper closed quite a few times in the past two years, so you might want to get on that somewhat early in the day. Little Dipper also gets a long line because of its low capacity. One switchback can take 45 minutes. In the past, most people have gone to the Raging Bull side of the park right at opening. This year most people will probably go to Raging Bull or X-Flight first, so you can easily do Batman and V2 in ten minutes if you do those right at opening. I agree that 2 days is a good idea to play it safe as far as weather and crowds. The park can get very busy in July, and things like bad weather don't really seem to have a huge effect. I've never done the flashpass here, because it is my home park and I usually only spend a half day in the park. If Raging Bull is over a 45 minutes wait, you're probably best off getting a flashpass. Even if the lines aren't bad, the flashpasses are always a good way to make your day more exciting. For SFSTL, keep in mind that it gets very hot and humid at this park. In the peak of the summer, a lot of people will go to the waterpark. I really don't think you'll have a problem with ride lines. Expect the Boss to be rougher than most coasters you've been on, but try it in the second to last row. It really is a completely different experience at night. For Holiday World, make sure you have you room booked ahead of time, because there are not a lot of hotels near the park and rooms fill quickly. I haven't been to the park in a few years, so I can't give you much help besides that. I definitely suggest checking out the waterpark and seeing everything that the park has to offer. I've never had problems with lines at WOF. The parking lot is kind of far away from the entrance, so keep that in mind when planning what to take into the park. I think you'll run out of things to do if you spend an entire day there, but maybe that's just me. One thing to keep in mind is that you could go from WOF (Kansas City) to SFGAM (Gurnee) by driving through Des Moines. This would allow you to take a 2 or 3 hour stop at Adventureland.
  2. The SFMM save Dejavu page has pictures of the SFGAM Dejavu, but they tag it as being at Six Flags Magic Mountain. And the Log Jammer with busses crashing into it is just disrespectful.
  3. ^ LOL. Hopefully they programmed it so it doesn't drop down where he's sitting and grab his head. Edit: Woops, forgot they disabled it for awhile.
  4. ^Yeah, that was pretty stupid. You can tell they rehearsed it. This kind of goes along with my theory of the "facebook idiots" that post on different parks' walls with dumb questions/ comments actually being fans that know a little bit about some of the parks in their region.
  5. I think this is a good move for the park. I am not a big Harry Potter fan. I read the first five books in middle school and have seen some of the movies, but never went crazy about it like some people have. I recently went to IoA and was surprisingly impressed with the Harry Potter land and how popular it was. The rides were very well designed and themed and although I love the original Dueling Dragons, I have to say they did a good job retheming it. On that particular day, the rest of the park had 5 to 10 minute lines for nearly every attraction, but the Harry Potter section was swamped with people. They even had a 20 minute wait just to get butter-beer. I think not building more of these sections at other Universal parks would be a bad decision, based off of the popularity and success of the Florida parks. At the same time, I really didn't like how the crowds were spread over the park. It wasn't very enjoyable having 75% of the park dead and 15% of the park packed, and the areas directly next to the Harry Potter section) somewhat filled with Harry Potter traffic. This isn't that big of a deal, but it's not as enjoyable to visit a section of the park that's over-filled with people. I understand that new rides/ sections will typically have more congestion than other older sections of parks, but this seemed a little bit extreme. Anyways, I think this would be a good addition to the park, regardless of my like/dislike for Harry Potter. From my one visit to Universal Studios Hollywood in 2008, I did notice that the park seemed to be missing things for a younger audience to enjoy. This could be very successful and attract guests that normally wouldn't have cared to visit the park.
  6. The best thing I've done at a theme park is paid about the equivalent of $20 US for a "VIP" wristband at Six Flags Mexico. By doing so I got to walk past everyone in the full queue for Superman (about a 2 hour wait) and go right into the station. We got a ton of weird stares from everyone in line as well as some comments that I couldn't understand. Did the same for most of the other coasters as well.
  7. It seems like some of these people just do this to be annoying/ "funny". Kind of like if you play Xbox live and someone is singing into the headset or talking in a high-pitched, squeaky voice. I'm sure it's hard for some of the parks to decide if the person is being serious and just doesn't know much about the park or if they are messing around. I think that's why a lot of these comments haven't been taken down and why people continue to do this. It's too bad that there isn't some sort of filter to automatically delete comments with excessive misspellings.
  8. I get sick on most spinning rides (not flipping just spinning) and I usually will take Bonine or an equivalent travel sickness medicine at the beginning of the theme park season, because my tolerance to rides is not up yet. Also, I would suggest eating. I think there are some misconceptions about eating before riding rides, but in my opinion, you are way worse off if you don't eat anything and then ride. As far as height is concerned, I would start small and work her way up to the bigger rides like everyone else has been saying. Try to get a feel for what she likes and doesn't like in a ride and work around that. Try to stick with roller coasters that are fun so that as you work her way up to the bigger rides, she is enjoying herself. Everyone is different, so the method of sticking her on the biggest ride first might not work out that well.
  9. Montana Infinitum in Mexico City has something similar to what you're describing. I barely was able to fit into it, because of my height.
  10. I've always gone to the Mr. Freeze section first for some reason. I would get a flashpass just because your time at the park is limited to one day and you're already paying to fly out there. Keep in mind that La Vibora has a single rider line (last time I went), which will save you at least an hour on a busy day. I would imagine that Texas Giant and Titan will be very busy. Personally I would have gone the next weekend to do Texas Giant Bash, but it sounds like you already bought your ticket and probably have a reason for choosing that weekend. Have fun
  11. I've been to most of these parks multiple times, so I figure I could give my endorsement. Goliath at La Ronde is one of my favorite steel roller coasters. I suggest trying to ride in as many different rows as possible to find out which one is the best. It's much different from other B&M hyper coasters in the sense that there really isn't a "bad" row- the airtime in all rows is good. I think in general La Ronde is underrated and anyone doing this trip will be surprised how much fun the park can be. The quality of the park has improved between my visits in 2008 and 2010. Also, all of the smaller parks in this region are a lot of fun, so any "bonus" park will be a real treat.
  12. I'm going through and posting reviews of parks that do not have anything yet (that I have been to of course). Some of these include Amusement Park Drive In, Arnold's Park, Boomers, Bowcraft Playland, Calaway Park, Camden Park, La Feria Chapultepec Magico, and Six Flags Mexico.
  13. ^ Thanks for the information. I read from the page posted to this page, because I thought any information I needed would be covered in that range.
  14. So were these TPR members able to ride because of a soft opening? Once I saw this update I considered changing my spring break plans last minute, but when I called the park they said the Texas Giant doesn't open until April. Any information is appreciated.
  15. Did you stay onsite or did you find somewhere else? I had strongly considered going to Guatemala last Winter, but cancelled because I wasn't able to find enough information on park hours and lodging. Everyone I talked to was convinced that the country was too dangerous to travel to, which also factored into my decision. From the research I did, Northern Guatemala and Guatemala City is where most of the crime takes place. Northern Guatemala gets a lot of tourists form cruises and people that are into bird watching. The Guatemala City parks did not have any big coasters as of last year, so I had no intention of staying in Guatemala City. The plan was to get a rental car right after landing, and drive straight to Xetulul. We would stay there for maybe two or three nights. On the last day we would drive back and fly. This way we would avoid Guatemala City (sort of). Did you stay in the city at all, or did you simply make stops at the parks on the way to Xetulul? Thanks for posting this.
  16. Yes, it is on Enchantment of the Seas. I really liked the idea of doing a Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios, Labadee cruise leaving Dec 26th, 7 night RC. Unfortunately that is $1400 a person, which wouldn't work for the rest of my family. Also, early December wouldn't work (although that would be the perfect time to go), because I used all of my vacation days to go to Nova Scotia and Mexico this summer.
  17. I should have done this!! I didn't do Shoot the Freak and I got a lemonade at Nathan's... Who gets lemonade at Nathan's? Hindsight is 20/20
  18. ^^It's not that far away from where I live and the cruise itself is about half the price of a cruise out of Florida. ^Edit: I really hope I never have to ride with someone that laughs like that
  19. I appreciate all of your comments. I probably should have mentioned that when I travel I don't like to stay in one place for too long. I went to Mt. Rushmore and I was bored after 30 minutes. I'm the type that likes to do some sort of activity while in a new place. I can't just sit on the beach all day. I think the most realistic cruise for me (right now) is a Caribbean cruise, just because they can be so cheap and they're places I haven't been to. From what you guys are saying it seems like this is comparable to someone new to coasters wanting to go to Cedar Point even though they've been told by others that there are other parks with better rides. I do have a very large interest in going to Labadee, Haiti, because of the fact that it's the only way I'd ever go to Haiti and because they have an Alpine Coaster (which I am a huge fan of). However, I wouldn't do a three day cruise that went from Florida to Haiti and back, because that's just a waste. I found a really cool cruise out of Baltimore on December 27th. It's 12 days and goes to Haiti, Dominican Republic, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and British Virgin Islands. $700, but the ship doesn't look all that great. The ship has enough to keep me busy, but wouldn't be as sweet as Oasis obviously. The chances of me doing this cruise are very slim, because the timing doesn't seem to work out well for my family and my girlfriend and Iwe would not go by ourselves. Let me know what you think of this idea and if it's even worth it. Thanks everyone
  20. I just got interested in cruising lately. I've been looking at some western Caribbean cruises and just got my Royal Caribbean book in the mail. My main interest is going to new countries and experiencing what they have to offer. Summer 2011 is looking the most promising, mainly because I don't see a reason to pay 3 times as much to go on the same cruise over New Years. Does anybody have any tips/ places that they highly recommend going to for someone that is new to this?
  21. The backwards launch looks really cool. I'm interested to see how the airtime compares while dropping face-first. I know on backwards wood coasters, the airtime was better while facing backwards, but that's not a vertical drop. I also think it would be cool to move the superman figure down about 30 feet, so you pass him on the way up.
  22. They can kick you out of the park for bringing a camera on a ride. I don't think they can make you delete photos. In fact, I think it would be illegal for them to do that. However, I think they could tell you that they won't kick you out of the park if you delete the photos. In that case, I think most people would delete the photos.
  23. It looks like the lines got a lot longer on Sunday than they were on Saturday. We waited at most one train for Blue Streak. Your visit seems to be much nicer than what we experienced. My sweatshirt got tons of grease stains from the restraints and more of the flats were closed. We had fun, but I was a little disappointed.
  24. Two things worth mentioning. 1) Some other competitors in this competition might try to pull out a bunch of votes last minute (especially if they're in 2nd place). Keep voting, no matter what place. This happens with track runners a lot. In the last 10 meters they let up and end up losing because of that. The person in 2nd will try whatever it takes to get 1st. 2) I think the ride's operation this weekend depends on whether or not they receive this $50,000 award. I really want to ride this coaster this weekend, so let's keep voting!!
