  1. Tomb Raider: The Ride at King's Island. That thing stays upside down for at least 20 seconds!
  2. The is disorienting, uncomfortable, and definitely messed up. Just look at the reactions of the riders at the end Tomb Raider at King's Island was really weird, too. Being held upside down for 30 seconds in not my idea of fun.
  3. I like how the articles in the paper made a point of informing everyone that the carnies had all been thoroughly screened and drug tested. I went over there on Friday for the $10 unlimited ride wristband. On the news, they showed the carnies setting up a Zamperla Power Surge, and I was really disappointed to find that it was not even there. I think they just used footage from the Tennessee State Fair. That's false advertising. The rides that they did have were great, though. Here's what I rode: Mega Drop-6 Moon Rocket (Fireball)-2 Ion (Orbiter)-1 Cyclops-3 Hammer-1 My favorite ride was Mega Drop. It had a great view over the rest of the midway, and the seats were really comfortable. It reminded me a lot of the taller Intamin drop rides. I took these pictures 2 years ago, the first year it opened. The Seattle Wheel looks great at night.
  4. Gravitrons are some of my least favorite rides, since I always feel so uncomfortable on them. I don't like the way that those rides position you with your head back to make the blood rush to your head. It is like being held upside down while having someone stand on your chest so you can't breathe. It's just too intense for me. The Round Up rides are still pretty intense, but at least I feel like I can breathe while riding them.
  5. I was talking about the sharp top of the first drop, but I guess that is not the part being modified. It does look like they have some room to extend the heartline roll if that quck transition is the problem, though. http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=6449
  6. Does this mean that the drop might be altered, too? I wondered how a 3-car train could manage to be safely launched over a 95-degree drop. If the train went just a little bit too fast, that could cause some dangerous forces for the back-seat riders. I can easily see them modifying that part to put in some brakes.
  7. What kind of ride is El Diablo? It looks like some kind of mini Top Scan or Tango ride.
  8. Those trains look really awesome! They remind me of a cross between Eurofighter and B&M Hyper trains. That's cool how the restraints stay horizontal when they are locked down. It looks like the lap bars will form enough of a barrier when they are up to keep people from walking off the front of the train.
  9. The Voyage: Your Voyage begins without delay! And now it's time to sail away.
  10. I have been on a KMG Afterburner and a KMG Freakout. The Afterburner was way more intense, and the forces actually gave me a weird feeling like my ribs were bending. I think I read somewhere that Afterburners can get up to around 5.2 g's because of their faster spin. KMG Freakout KMG Afterburner
  11. 1st Gen would definitely get my vote if it were up there. Intamin really needs to make a launched gyro drop. That would be very impressive!
  12. So it's like being watched by security cameras throughout the day. Then when you leave, you get to watch the videos of yourself walking around the park Sounds kind of creepy
  13. Wow, this is impressive! I don't think I would ride it, though. That guy's head came dangerously close to the ground
  14. SFOG- Deja Vu (like that will ever happen ) Kentucky Kingdom- Hellevator, Greezed Lightnin', T2, and the blue side of Twisted Twins (Lola I think) Cedar Point- Maverick, TTD, Power Tower, Mean Streak, MaXair, Skyhawk, and Chaos (if it's even still there) Dollywood- Mystery Mine and possibly Beech Bend (for the Looping Star)
  15. This site says that there are only 18 slides. I remember seeing a picture a really long time ago that showed an aerial view of a tower that had 50 slides on it. The slides all wound around each other in the shape of an octagon, and the entrance to each one was on one big platform in the middle. I tried to look for that picture again, but I could not find it anywhere.
  16. SFKK needs something new. The last real adddition was Greezed Lightnin' in '03. Since then, they have just added a Proslide Tornado and painted Chang. They should keep T2 for 1 more year (since I still need the credit ), and then tear it down to build and Intamini Rocket like Kanonen! Shapiro would probably rather put in a petting zoo.
  17. Highrollers/Crazy Trains are the most claustrophobic rides ever! You basically sit inside a heavily padded box that is just big enough for two people side by side. My head toched the ceiling every time it went upside down, since the lap bar was like a big foam cylinder about 1 foot wide that had a lot of give to it. The worst part is that the glass in front of you is so clouded with cigar smoke, vomit, and who knows what else that you can't even see the people sitting across from you! The movement of the cars is very rough, so you get slammed around in the cage the whole time. It's such a weird, awesome experience! Don't ever pass up the chance to ride one of these things if you have never ridden one, because it's just so strange; you have to experience it for yourself!
  18. A cobra roll is an immelman followed by a dive loop. There is just a really huge height difference between the entrance and exit of the elments.
  19. 1. Millennium Force 2. Tennessee Tornado 3. Magnum XL 200 4. Raptor 5. Face/OFF Ninja at SFSTL deserves honorable mention for having really strong airtime in the backseat. I can't wait to ride PKI's Vortex in the Backseat!
  20. Batman the Ride in the front seat has some really powerful positive g's. Mindbender's "third loop" helix was the only part of the ride where I could not keep my hands up. I think the ride's 5.4 g section is through the bottom of that helix, and the g's are slightly less going into the vertical loops. I may be wrong about that, though. I thought that Face/OFF was way too intense, especially going around the second time. That ride is nothing but strong positive g's the whole time. I had my eyes closed going backwards during the second half, because I didn't even want to know if I was greying/blacking out. I'm sure Deja Vu is pretty much the same, only more sustained. As for negative g's, Magnum XL and Georgia Cyclone's 4th drop in the back seat are definitely the most intense that I have ridden.
  21. I thought this one was pretty hilarious! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cyppahgfNs&NR
  22. MaXair has only been running at half capacity lately. Half of the seats were removed and added to Delirium.
  23. Whenever I go to a carnival that doesn't have unlimited ride wristbands, I always get tickets for the one ride that looks the best. I went to a small carnival in Illinois and paid five dollars for one ride on the Zipper. It was definately the most intense flat ride I had ever ridden. The seats seemed to never stop spinning after the ride got up to full speed. When the seats were upside down going into the turn around at the bottom, they got flung around so fast that it felt like they were about to break off from those flimsy poles. One moment I was being yanked up into the lap bar while staring straight down at the ground just a few inches below, and just a split second later all of the blood rushed to my feet when the seats got flung around over and over. I'm surprised these rides still exist. They seem a little bit too dangerous, but that's what makes them so fun! Here is a video and some info on the history of the Zipper. The first few rides produced were run at more than twice the speed that they are today!
  24. I don't really understand the whole "You have to be 18 to sit in the back seat of Cyclops" thing. I could probably pass as an 18-year-old, even though I'm only 16. I'm sure you don't have to show them any identification. They should change the rule to something like "You must be a certain height above the usual limit to ride in the back seat." And what about the 2nd to back seat. I'm sure it's nearly as intense, only without the age restriction. My favorite drops are: (all in the backseat, of course!) 1. MF first drop 2. Voyage 1st drop 3. 5th drop on Raven 4. GA Cyclone 4th drop 5. Gemini's first drop 6. Every drop on Boss (Especially the second part of the double down!) 7. Tennessee Tornado's first drop 8. Mindbender- Every drop! (Especially the headchopper helix drop) 9. Ninja @ SFSTL first drop (It has great airtime, but the rest of the ride is terrible!) 10. The largest drop on Space Mountain @ Disney World. I'm not sure where it was in the ride, but it really caught me by surprise. It seemed incredibly huge in the dark.
  25. I saw a cool backyard ride on America's Funniest Home Videos. It was like a big swing set where you stand on a little ring at the bottom of a pole and rock back and forth until you swing yourself completely upside down about 15 feet up in the air! I think it had a small counterweight to make it easier to get yourself over the top. The coolest part is the little bar over your head that you have to hold onto really tightly or you will fall out! I'm not sure what was supposed to be funny about the video, but it just looked really cool. It would probably be really cheap to make, too.
