  1. This is awesome! Fingers crossed for lap bar trains on the Takabisha clone rather than typical Gerstlauer OTSRs.
  2. I absolutely love Manta's trains (at SWSD). Not only are they super comfortable and free (and high capacity), but they have an awesome color scheme and the Manta ray on the zero car is awesome.
  3. I wasn’t sure where exactly to post this, but I felt this was the most appropriate thread. You have probably heard about this elsewhere on the Internet, but I haven’t seen anything posted on TPR, so I thought I would share. I go to school at Utah State University, which is just a few miles away from the S&S facility in Logan, Utah. I heard on Twitter they were building some new contraption, so of course my friend and I drove down to check it out. It’s very interesting... it reminds me of Arrow’s old steeplechase coaster like the one at Blackpool or the Soap Box Racers that were at Knott’s way back when. Please note that these photos were taken on public roads/sidewalks. I would never trespass to take photos. It was very convenient that the coaster was just a few yards away from the road, allowing for several angles to take photos. It’s also a complete circuit, and if you looks closely in the third photo, there is a small car on the track. Color me intrigued. What do you think?
  4. EDIT: Robb beat me to it! It's a fantastic video, by the way.
  5. Awesome report! Like most people, I have a difficult time ranking coasters and keeping an ordered list, but I am still sure that Skyrush is my all-time favorite coaster, even after riding Fury, I305, El Toro, RMCs, Maverick, etc. Nothing comes close to the sheer intensity and fear-of-death experience than Skyrush. It's a masterpiece that America does not deserve.
  6. I know this post is from a couple pages ago, but I had to reply and say how much I agree. GhostRider is running so much better this year than last year. Don't get me wrong, it ran great last year, but I feel like after a year of operation, it has really "broken in" and runs crazy fast and intense while still incredibly smooth. I much prefer it to Mystic Timbers. When the ride is running this well, it makes me seriously question my stance as Xcelerator being the best coaster in the park. Listen to ^this guy and go out and ride GhostRider while it's in its prime right now. Who really knows how much longer it will stay this smooth.
  7. I'm excited to see this ride go up. I think people will be surprised at how small both this and Wonder Woman really are. The small track size throws off the scale quite a bit and makes the ride appear much larger than it actually is.
  8. Here is what came up on the YouTube app on my iPad. Same thing as everyone else!
  9. I'm assuming you are referring to B&M? If so, I'm not sure what to think. Psyclone's trains were terrible, but they were also built several decades ago, so I could trust B&M to design a nice comfortable new train. But Lagoon has also never worked with B&M, and they aren't a cheap company, so maybe not... Regardless, if this turns out true, that would be great news. As long as they do not add seat belts to the train. I love that riders can just hop in to every ride at Lagoon and dispatch immediately without any redundant belts to slow down operations.
  10. Viper at Six Flags Magic Mountain last night, in the front row I might add. I love it so much. Hopefully the park keeps it around a while longer, or refurbishes it with new trains. I'd hate to see it go.
  11. Waveswinger, Dragon Swing, and Hat Dance are all still very popular. Lots of times I want to go ride them to take a break from the coasters, but they have lines that I don't think are worth waiting in given what rides they are. Fiesta Village already has a very clustered mess of coasters on the south side. They really should not add another coaster in that area of the park, unless they remove Jaguar and replace it with something more... comfortable and modern, which I am all for. Also, with HangTime coming next year, I don't see a new coaster at Knott's for a long, long time. I think the most we could see is a new family coaster in the next decade, if they choose to retire Jaguar. I heard Sol Spin was testing with water dummies over the weekend, so hopefully that is a sign of it reopening soon.
  12. My thoughts exactly! I feel like the UK overhypes every single one of their rides. Although Icon looks fantastic, so that’s an exception.
  13. Not only is it inefficient for cost, but I'm not even sure LSMs could provide an acceleration rate good enough to match that of the hydraulic launch system. I believe the only launch system that can match or exceed the hydraulic's acceleration rate is pneumatic, and there is no way that is happening. And who's to say that replacing the launch system, which won't happen, wouldn't just give the park a whole new plethora of problems to deal with. It's not like LSMs have always been the most reliable launch system, either. My hope is that the park takes advantage of this extended period of downtime to repaint the ride, but that's just coming from an enthusiast's perspective. I'm sure there is so much more behind the scenes involved with a paint job that I'm overlooking.
  14. Facebook or Twitter?
  15. I’m going to Lagoon tomorrow, and I’ll be at Knott’s next weekend.
  16. Somebody please catch me up... is this going to have an LSM lift or what? I know AT has noise restraints and all that. Whatever it is, that's a funky lift hill. Layout looks solid as well.
  17. Darn it. Of course Sol Spin closes down when I'm about to visit soon. Hopefully it's operational by next weekend (with or without an upgraded cycle). I freakin' love that ride. As for Monte and Xcelerator, neither of them is going anywhere, anytime soon... especially Xcelerator. Knott's treasures Monte so much, I could see them going with an upgraded launch/brake system with new Gerstlauer trains (like the one at Walibi Belgium) long before they decide to remove it.
  18. I don’t think Xcelerator has ever been down this long (besides the infamous cable snap in 2009). Hopefully they get it up and running soon. Initially I was optimistic and thought the ride would be up soon and just had some maintenance issues, but it’s not looking any better 3 months later. That really sucks for Cedar Fair, especially with TTD simultaneously being down as well.
  19. If the park only said the ride was closing in January of 2018, then RMC could have just been some assumption/hope, but I think the fact that they announced "reopening in Spring 2019" basically gave it away.
  20. ^When that happens (notice I said when, not if), please come down to SoCal. We've got a giant, orange sucked-on skittle that could benefit from your services!
  21. ^Thanks for the info. Hmm. If it's gonna be jammed, I probably won't bother going until a weekday in early January when they start operating daily. I'm only home from college for a few days that weekend, so I'm not gonna waste the time and money if I'm not gonna ride much, even with a Flash Pass, since I'm not going for any other reason. Glad I asked! Thanks again.
  22. I've never felt nauseated nor puked because of a ride. Sometimes I come off feeling a tad lightheaded or dizzy, but usually that's from minor dehydration... a quick sip of water and I'm fine. I get way more sick from eating certain foods, or even driving in a car for long periods of time. Roller coasters and flat rides just don't do that to me, and I'm grateful for that every day!
  23. I'm guessing you never heard of Wildfire at Kolmarden Zoo, Sweden... And I'm guessing you don't know the difference between an iron horse and ground up woodie This is awesome news. Nagashima really is the foreign "Cedar Point." White Cyclone's layout also has a lot of potential--I can't wait to see what happens when RMC works their magic.
  24. After having not gone to the park in almost a year (which is longer than usual for me), I think I'm going to try and go on Sunday the 22nd. Are there any ride closures, one train operations, etc. I should be worried about? Also, I know everybody advocates to get Flash Pass if possible, but would it really be necessary that weekend? I don't plan on staying too far into the night since I don't care about Fright Fest and I've got to get up early the next morning. I just wanna ride all the coasters and check out Justice League--it's been a while. Thanks in advance.
