Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
thrillseeker4552 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for sharing! I’m loving all of these Holiday events going on. Among Cedar Fair, Six Flags, Dollywood, SDC, etc., I don’t think any of them are actually “bad.” The lights look great. Curious... does Mystic Timbers run any differently in the cold? Or does it still haul a$$? -
Lagoon Discussion Thread
thrillseeker4552 replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is just me dreaming, but I think a Mack coaster along the lines of Alpina Blitz or Storm (Etnaland) would be a perfect addition to the park, but there is basically a zero percent chance of that happening considering how expensive Mack coasters are (I assume?) and that Lagoon seems to prefer designing and building things in-house (which is fine by me, because Cannibal kicks a$$). I’m excited for whatever is coming in 2019. I plan on following construction closely since it’s my secondary home park! -
I completely agree with both of the posters above. When I was at Kings Dominion last summer, this coaster enthusiast in line behind me at Intimidator 305 was trying to convince me that Skyrush was so much better (and I will admit that I prefer Skyrush), but I was just like, dude, you’re about to ride one of the greatest roller coasters in the country, just enjoy it. And don’t even get me started on these 12-year-old roller coaster Instagrammers who constantly rate everything and take the hobby so seriously. Back on topic, awesome report(s) Bill! So entertaining to read.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
thrillseeker4552 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice pictures! I know Winterfest was a long shot, but it was fun to think about. Even if they pulled a Kings Island and only opened like one coaster (Wicked Twister since no valleying?), it’d still be fun to visit the park in December if possible. Maybe one day. -
I wonder what the possibilities of a GhostRider treatment are for Timber Wolf? Or is it highly doubtful with Prowler in the same park? I mean, Cedar Fair has a couple parks that essentially have two B&M Hypers, so maybe if they wanted a long term solution, they could go that route if they differentiate it enough from Prowler. I don't know, just throwing the idea out there.

Best Drops....
thrillseeker4552 replied to BiCoastal Kid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I gotta know... What makes KI's Drop Tower so great?? I've seen it mentioned in here a few times... I personally prefer the one at Kings Dominion, but they are both fantastic. They’re my favorite drop towers not including Lex Luthor/Zumanjaro. The KD one has a slightly longer drop with the mag brakes farther down the tower. I can’t remember which one is actually taller, but KD’s feels taller. -
TOP 5 B&M INVERTED COASTERS
thrillseeker4552 replied to CoasterExpert13's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can agree with this. It might be towards the bottom tier of inverts but it's still a phenomenal ride and that weird, prolonged turn between the loop and cobra roll is a blast. Definitely. The best rides are when the restraint is on a loose click, so the overbanked turn, zero-g roll, and hill between the two corkscrews is super floaty and fun. Definitely the "airtime-iest" invert I've ridden. But the helix has forces very comparable to Raptor's helix or the turns on the Batman clones. The first drop is really lame though, I will admit that. But given the space constraints Knott's had, I don't think they had a ton of options for a steep drop. -
TOP 5 B&M INVERTED COASTERS
thrillseeker4552 replied to CoasterExpert13's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Banshee 2. Afterburn 3. Batman clones (the two I've been on are identical in every way (SFMM and SFGAdv)) 4. Raptor 5. Great Bear 6. Silver Bullet But if anyone knows me, I still love Silver Bullet and think people trash on it way too much. Like Coasterbill said, I don't think there is a "bad" B&M Invert. -
Coaster Credit
thrillseeker4552 replied to baileybrucem's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Because he has a VERY small penis and needs to overcompensate for that by showing the world he's been on lots of roller coasters. That’s the vibe I was getting. -
Have we heard any more information about their new "coaster" next year? I'm assuming it's a custom-made Larson loop. Is that all we know at this point? Considering this one is 100-feet and the others are 70, a 43%-ish increase in size is quite large. Dare I say, I'm actually intrigued by this addition.

Coaster Credit
thrillseeker4552 replied to baileybrucem's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looks like we're bumping a thread. I have ridden few enough coasters where I can keep a count, but I'm sure once I get above 500 or so, I'll just lose track. It's not worth it at that point. I also never go out of my way to ride kiddie coasters for the sole purpose of adding to my count. Back in August, I met a guy at Lagoon who stopped by solely to grab credits, then move on to Silverwood. Lagoon is a great park that has so much more than its coaster count (especially its awesome flat collection). He left after riding the best coasters only once, and I was just thinking in my mind... "why?" To each his own, but for me, quality over quantity for sure. As for what constitutes a credit, I just go off of RCDB. That's easiest for me. -
^From what I can tell, that is unlaid steel. RMC iBox coasters have a thin layer of steel on top of their track, so that is just an unlaid layer of steel. My best prediction is that they are using a different type of paint. I guess that was the reason for the strips on Joker and Storm Chaser was to avoid the paint sticking problems that Twisted Colossus had. I’m glad it is a solid color now, the strips didn’t look good at all.
