  1. I have noticed that too. Sometimes one side launches higher than the other as well. I imagine it’s for no other reason than to save on costs. People can’t tell the difference between 95 and 100 mph, and the GP will eat it up regardless, so they might as well be cheap if they can, especially now that they’re operating daily. Just my guess.
  2. Checking the webcams, it looks like they added even more track to HangTime last night. I imagine they will finish track work and top off the first inversion in the next day or two! Only one or two pieces left.
  3. ^I swear, April has a relevant quote for every situation! As for the catwalks, there were also none on the final brake run (in the concept video) either, so I’m not sure how seriously we should take that video. With that being said, there also doesn’t appear to be any connections/braces to place catwalks (I mean, the track is already so incredibly thin). Who really knows.
  4. Certain: 1. Knott’s Berry Farm (have already been) 2. Six Flags Magic Mountain (have already been) 3. Lagoon (planning on going opening day in March) Somewhat likely: 1. California’s Great America 2. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom 3. Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk 4. Gilroy Gardens 5. Six Flags Over Georgia (thinking of a quick, cheap trip in and out of Atlanta sometime in June) If the stars align (which they probably won’t): 1. Six Flags Over Texas 2. Six Flags Fiesta Texas 3. SeaWorld San Antonio 4. ZDT’s 5. Six Flags Over Texas
  5. It is beyond vertical... 96 degrees. Unless I’m missing a joke or something. Why won’t BGT give Gwazi the RMC treatment?
  6. Jaguar! at Knott’s Berry Farm.
  7. It’s amazing how far you can walk at an amusement park without realizing it. It’s the most fun way to exercise!
  8. Awesome! That was one of the ugliest color schemes ever.
  9. 9/10. That is a VERY true statement!
  10. Hurler at Carowinds.
  11. I came over to post the same thing. Only about 3-4 pieces of track left to go! Here’s a screenshot for anyone interested.
  12. Last week. I had a 7:30am class, and staying up until about 1am didn’t help. When was the last time you purchased a new Apple product?
  13. Boomerang at Knott’s Berry Farm! Thankfully, it’s now gone.
  14. I absolutely love the color scheme on this ride. It’s nice to see track work complete!
  15. Jaguar is missing from Knott’s Berry Farm. Not that it would be highly ranked, but Coast Rider and Pony Express are included, so.... just thought I’d bring that up. Other than that, I can’t find any missing coasters, at least that I’ve ridden. The save is now working for me, so I’ll finally start ranking my coasters! Awesome.
  16. If you are only doing Southern California, you have everything covered, unless you’d like to do Universal (if you’re into a bunch of simulator rides or Harry Potter) or touristy stuff in Los Angeles. If you are also considering Northern California (about a 5-6 hour drive roughly from SoCal), of course I would recommend Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, California’s Great America, and Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. So it all depends if you’re doing both NorCal and SoCal, because there is diddly squat in between, and they are pretty far apart.
  17. I guess it would be *doable* but if this is your first time visiting the park, I would highly recommend two days, or at least 1.5 days. It’s a huge park with a ton of coasters, and with long lines and SFMM’s highly unpredictable ride closures / operations, I would really suggest at least a day, even if you have Flash Pass. You could do it if you got there right at opening and stayed until closing, but your visit will be so much less stressful if you go for at least 1.5 days.
  18. If this is indeed a HITP announcement (which seems likely), I wonder what areas of the park they’ll open? Maybe they’ll open Raging Bull, but possibly X-Flight and Goliath too? I’m sure Coasterbill would love to chime in here.
  19. A whopping 21 of 126 (17%). Aside from El Toro and maybe Mystic Timbers or GhostRider, I really haven’t ridden any “star” wooden coasters in the US. Still woud love to get on Phoenix, Voyage, the RMC woodies, and numerous GCIs and Gravity Groups!
  20. I’m glad to hear that Sol Spin is testing! But knowing its history, it will probably operate for a month or so only to shut down again for an extended period of time. I think the park has been playing around with the ride cycle (since we’ve seen 3 or 4 iterations of it already), and that has only lead to more technical problems. That makes the most sense to me as to why it’s been closed so much. I would gladly take a shorter ride cycle if it means the ride is more reliable, and I think others would agree.
  21. When it comes to Xcelerator, I think we’re all in the same boat. The park has been very hush-hush about it. All I know is one of the trains is parked in the station with the second one completely out of sight. There was also a giant metal thing (catch car?) laying down in the station. I’ve heard everything from it opening in March, to it opening in 2019. Nobody knows. I’m still convinced HangTime will open first. EDIT: I also just realized that it has been closed for about 6 months now, which is the same amount of time it was closed when the incident happened in 2009. That happened in September ‘09, and it reopened by April ‘10. This time, it closed in mid-July ‘17, and it’s already January 2018. Must be really serious.
  22. The save function still isn’t working for me on Safari on my iPad. I’ll try it on Chrome on my computer when I get time.
  23. Looks like that coaster model from RCT3 is finally getting built! Strange, but cool.
  24. Awesome! That inverted overbank/cutback thing looks so cool.
