Haven’t ridden Raptor at Gardaland, but I very much prefer Inverts to Wing coasters, so Raptor at CP. 100-degree weather or 10-degree weather?

Because Cedar Point won’t add a ride unless it breaks every freakin’ record possible. Why hasn’t Six Flags St. Louis RMC’d the Boss yet? -
I have a feeling this is the reason. Also, isn't it fairly common for the first test run to be a little fast because they don't want to risk valleying, so they put hard wheels on it? Or something like that? I remember Valravn's first test run being abnormally fast, then they started to control the speed. Mako too.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I believe every single RMC coaster built runs polyurethane wheels, with the exception of Outlaw Run. It’s safe to say that Steel Vengeance will not use steel wheels. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread

Have fun! Like you've probably seen, people's experiences on Vortex are highly polarized (and I'm sure even those who don't totally hate the ride wouldn't necessarily call it "good"). The first part of Nighthawk is actually pretty fun and intense, but everything from the loop to the brakes is a shakey mess... at least it was for me. But on the other hand, Fury, Intimidator, and Afterburn are all fantastic rides and make the park worth visiting on their own! -
^That's awesome! I have an interview this Saturday to be a ride operator at Lagoon this summer! So excited!

Carowinds Discussion Thread

Is anyone else like me and hope they just scrap Vortex rather than convert it? I know they did Vortex at CGA, but Carowinds is a much larger park, and how marketable would something like Floortex be? Plus the ride would be mediocre, at best. I don't know. I guess I just hate the ride so much I'm getting ahead of myself. -
Best One-Two Punch
thrillseeker4552 replied to ShaneH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've never been, but I think Kentucky Kingdom has one of the best one-two punches out there with Lightning Run and Storm Chaser. It really doesn't get much better than that. As for parks I've visited, Six Flags New England (Wicked Cyclone and Superman) is the best one that comes to mind. And like others have said, especially with Steel Vengeance, Cedar Point will have a one-two-three-four-five punch! -
2! Glazed donut or chocolate donut?

Exactly my thoughts. I'm just expecting some slight differences in banking/roll directions, things like that. He in fact said "there will be more turns". The only way for there to be more turns than in the animation is for the layout to include a third lap. CONFIRMED. PERIOD. I'm not quite sure if you're being serious or not, but I want to respond anyway. If they were including a third lap, why wouldn't they show it in the original animation? That makes no sense at all that they would leave out a a whole third of the layout from the animation. Also, it is very possible to include more turns while still maintaining the layout shape. For example, the overbanked turn could be two "waves" like on Wicked Cyclone. Or maybe a double down instead of a typical airtime hill. Things like that. You're welcome to believe what you want, but you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Drawing realistic conclusions based on logic is not the same as being negative.

Even though this is a flat ride, I still cannot see Six Flags opening it before Memorial Day. That’s just how they roll. I have a Six Flags pass with food and parking, and I found some reasonable Frontier flights to DFW sometime in May or June, so I may visit this park if timing works out with school and work. After looking at Google Maps, it seems to airport is very close to the park, so Uber should be fairly cheap as well. It’s a possibility! Anyone have any recommendations for cheap hotels near the park / airport?
