  1. Great report! El Loco’s first drop is fantastic. I thought the rest of the ride was alright, but that first drop is worth the money alone. Canyon Blaster is also excellent and perfectly smooth.
  2. ^^Most Boomerangs are rough and painful, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t intense. I think I heard that in the front car when first entering the cobra roll forwards, it pulls about 5 Gs. The one at Knott’s made me grey out on occasion!
  3. While we’re speculating, I would love to see a solid family coaster with a low height requirement come to the park, when the time for a new coaster arises. I think something along the lines of FireChaser Express or Manta at SWSD would be perfect, since that is their core demographic, and unless you count Raven or Legend as family coasters, it would really fill a gap.
  4. I assume so, because Knott’s advertises as five inversions, and that one is more of an inversion than the over bank, so that’s what makes sense to me. The angle of this photo makes it look like it doesn’t even go upside down, but I’m sure it will feel like you are, and once it is built and we can look from all angles, it may be easier to tell.
  5. This is awesome! Quick question for those who did the Mitch Hawker poll, because I never did: How important is it that we rank every single coaster we’ve ridden? Is the poll affected if we leave our bottom 30 or 40 in just some jumbled order? Sorry if that’s a dumb question, but I’ve never done this type of poll before.
  6. As of last week, it is just a huge land clearing against the mountain, with construction walls up. Haven’t heard of any pieces arriving yet.
  7. ^That’s good to hear. I was hoping all of the closures were weather related rather than them slacking off on their 365-day operation. Although that will probably happen at some point...
  8. The park is not including it as part of the 5 inversions, so by their definition, it is simply an over-banked turn. It’s pretty steep though! With that being said, the first inversion on HangTime just barely inverts, almost in the way Full Throttle’s dive drop thing or Silver Bullet’s over-banked curve barely inverts. But like you said, it really doesn’t matter, and it’s all open to interpretation.
  9. Back in August when I got my wisdom teeth out, I believe I forgot to take my pill one morning. That’s the last time I remember, because I’m not prescribed any now. When was the last time you rode a Batman clone?
  10. Six Flags: In my opinion, SFGAdv and SFMM are about tied in the coaster department, but SFGAdv does everything else (flat rides, service, cleanliness) better than SFMM, so I’ll say Six Flags Great Adventure. Cedar Fair: Obviously Cedar Point, but my second favorite is Kings Dominion. SeaWorld: Only been to SWSD. Disney: I’ve been to WDW, but that was 10 years ago when I was only 8 and I don’t remember a whole lot, so I’m going with DLR/DCA. Universal: Only been to USH, and that was before Harry Potter. Independent: Hersheypark!
  11. The Boardwalk BBQ is amazing. I am so glad they added it to the park. I think it’s one of my favorite theme park restaurants out there, although Harmony Hall at Carowinds is fantastic as well. Thanks for sharing!
  12. I’ve ridden 25 B&Ms, unless you count Mantis and Rougarou separately, then it’s 26. Haven’t left North America. Invert: Banshee, Afterburn, Raptor, Silver Bullet, Great Bear, 2 Batman clones Floorless: Dominator, Scream, Bizarro, Batman, Hydra, Rougarou Dive: Valravn Wing: GateKeeper Stand-Up: Mantis, Riddler, Green Lantern, Apocalypse, Vortex (Carowinds) Hyper: Intimidator, Diamondback, Fury 325, Nitro Flying: Tatsu, Superman (SFGAdv) No Sit-Downs
  13. So nice to see new padding for Diamondback. Those seats/restraints looked horrible.
  14. Canada’s Wonderland’s flat ride collection still continues to blow me away, and the fact that they keep adding more is just insane. I think I’ve said this before, but they could add 5 new roller coasters and still be a well-balanced park.
  15. LOL I didn’t even bother looking at the webcam and seeing how “rainy” it actually was. That’s hilarious! #PrayforCalifornia
  16. Do we know what type of restraints these things will have? I think I remember reading it will be an OTSR, but do we know if it’s a belt, vest, bar, etc.? It’ll be interesting to see what RMC develops since they’ve only done lap bars.
  17. It happens a couple times throughout the year. Last winter when California had WAY more rain than normal, I think Six Flags ended up closing several times in January and February, so they extended their daily operations farther into September to make up for those days. Then they announced 365-operation not long after. I guess the park just decides that if none of their rides will be able to operate for the vast majority of the day, then it’s not worth their efforts.
  18. Do I spy an an Expedition G-Force clone in that second picture? I’m still skeptical, but color me intrigued.
  19. I totally get where you are coming from. My hope is that it will take that inversion (as well as the two before it) much slower than the animation portrays to give extra HangTime. Monster at Adventureland crawls through some of its inversions, so I’m hoping HangTime lives true to its name and does the same. The first diagram released made it look like a stretched loop, but after seeing the offride animation and POV released, it most definitely looks like a corkscrew, at least by my definition. This ride definitely has some funky elements.
  20. Checking the webcams, it looks like about half of the corkscrew is now complete. Once they do that, all that is left is to finish the cobra roll and connect the first drop to the first inversion. My guess is track work will be completed by the end of the month. Assuming electrical work, queue and station work, and testing will take 2 months or so, I could see HangTime opening in early- to mid-April. I can’t wait to see the trains!
  21. Xcelerator at Knott’s Berry Farm!
  22. Looking good! It really seems to use the terrain well, and I also like the little pre-lift section.
  23. Pony Express at Knott’s Berry Farm!
  24. This is great news. I’ve never ridden Timber Wolf, but based on all the negative things I hear about that helix, this can’t be anything but an improvement. And even though SteVen and Twisted Timbers look so amazing, I respect that Cedar Fair still likes to refurbish and reprofile their existing wooden coasters like this, GhostRider, Shivering Timbers, etc. Good for them!
