After re-watching the video a couple more times, I couldn't help but notice all the awesome head choppers that seem to have gone unnoticed. The bottom of the first drop (that goes under the cobra roll) looks especially awesome, and with so many supports in one area, there are multiple moments where they come really close to the track (also the center of the cobra roll). Good stuff!

What is your next park?
thrillseeker4552 replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Knott's Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain in mid-December. Not sure which one I'll visit first. Most likely Knott's. -
This just goes to show how everybody experiences roller coasters differently, because I very much disagree with this statement. If I relax on X2, it throws me around like a ragdoll and the ride is much rougher. It is much more tolerable, for me, when I brace for everything, especially the final raven turn. But like I said, that’s just me. You gotta do what works for you.

Having ridden X2 many, many times, it is just one of those rides you have to defensively ride. There really is no secret to have a perfectly smooth ride. It throws you around a lot; some like that, and some don't. The only tips I can recommend is to seat near the back of the train (which is really the front--the first row to leave the station), on an inside seat (preferably with someone heavier than you on the end), and keep your restraint tight and low on your shoulders, your head forward, and your legs firmly against the seat. Some rides are simply smoother/rougher than others for reasons you can't control. The ride really is a hit or miss. I've had both excellent and awful experiences over the years. Hope that helps. Unfortunately X2 is just a violent ride that isn't meant for everybody. Good luck!

I was browsing around RCDB earlier today and noticed something interesting... Apparently Vertical Velocity and Deja Vu both opened in 2001, although Deja Vu opened a few months after, due to problems I’m assuming. Did the park intend to open them at the same time? I just found that interesting since they are very similar ride styles, and Deja Vu has been gone for so long, I sorta forget the two rides coexisted for quite some time. What a strange move, to add two extremely similar rides from separate manufacturers in the same park during the same year. Did they market them together? Sorry for the strange question. Some of Six Flags’ moves in the early 2000s really intrigue me...

I noticed something interesting while perusing around Knott's website... Apparently the official name for Xcelerator is "Xcelerator the Ride" with a copyright symbol. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's ever been like that on the website before. Not a big deal, just strange. Anyone know why?

It's great to see vertical construction start! It's only barely November, so I wouldn't be surprised if track work is completed in only a few months, given the compact layout and reliable weather in SoCal. I could see an April opening, in time for the Boysenberry Festival, assuming there are no major hiccups. That would be awesome.

This is a great move for the park, in my opinion. Like others have said, this provides lots of bang for their buck, and assuming it will have lap bars like Iron Shark, it will definitely be one of the top rides in the park. Gerstlauer is really on a roll next year with this, HangTime, and the Eurofighter in Oregon, not to mention the Takabisha clone and spinning coaster going to New Jersey in 2019. It's really refreshing to see them make a nice return in the US with some large coasters rather than small family coasters/rides.

Quick question for those experienced with this park... I'm planning on going to NorCal (for the first time) during the week between Christmas and New Years. On their website, it says they have "limited ride availability" days. It says to expect 5 major rides to be open, so I assume Undertow and Giant Dipper are part of that? Has it been like that in the past? I'm hitting up SFDK and CGA, and I'd like to visit this park as well if the two major coasters are open. Thanks in advance!

Nice mini-report. I’m glad the supports for HangTime are more of a tan rather than the silver like in the concept art. That color combined with the blue seems much more appropriate for a beach boardwalk themed ride. I can’t wait to see vertical construction start, which shouldn’t be much longer now that most, if not all, of the foundations appear ready. Also, too bad Sol Spin and Xcelerator are still closed. I’m really hoping Knott’s can get all of their attractions operating by next summer, including Sky Cabin.

What are your TOP TEN COASTERS
thrillseeker4552 replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even though I find it difficult to develop and maintain a top 10 list, I decided to do it last weekend to the best of my ability. Some roller coasters could probably swap spots based on my mood, but this is a general idea. 1. Skyrush (this is definitely #1) 2. Kingda Ka (front row only) 3. El Toro 4. Intimidator 305 5. Fury 325 6. Maverick 7. Twisted Colossus 8. Wicked Cyclone 9. Nitro 10. Fahrenheit (this ride is criminally underrated) Honorable mentions that barely missed this list are X2, Millennium Force, and Superman the Ride. -
I'm thinking of heading to the park (for the first time) sometime between Christmas and New Years, maybe the 28th or 29th. Would one full day at the park be enough to hit everything, or will lines be insane due to the holidays? I know Magic Mountain gets absolutely slammed during this week and was wondering if SFDK gets just as crowded or not. Thanks in advance!

Currently a full-time college engineering student. I'm really hoping to get involved with S&S sometime soon (down the street from my school) to get started in the industry ASAP.
