  1. I was actually nervous about riding my first Maurer Skyloop due to the expected hangtime, but honestly I didnt really feel any while upside down. I did, however, feel like I was almost slipping out on the vertical lift which was nerve racking, I have experienced the same feeling on Eurofighters.
  2. But rcdb has it listed as a Gerstlauer...? >Implying that Eurofighters are forceless/boring.
  3. Me and my mum are currently in the process of planning a 12 day trip to Japan next June. We'll spend 7 nights in Tokyo and 5 in Osaka and are planning to get a Rail Pass. On the multi-park days on my itinerary will it be difficult to get the parks done the way I've planned? If so, what are some alternatives? What should queues be like in June? Are any of the parks listed difficult to visit within a day from either Tokyo or Osaka? And finally, if we instead choose to go in December, will most parks and rides still be open? Sorry for all the quetsions, here is our planned itinerary. Day 1 - Sunday: Land in Tokyo. Day 2 - Monday: Tokyo culture and sightseeing. Day 3 - Tuesday: Tobu Zoo, Aqua Stadium and Joypolis. Day 4 - Wednesday: Fuji-Q Highland (dreading it, but hopefully it's worth it for Takabisha.) Day 5 - Thursday: Tokyo Disneyland. Day 6 - Friday: Tokyo Disneysea. Day 7 - Saturday: Train to Osaka. Day 7 - Sunday: Osaka culture and sightseeing. Day 8 - Monday: Himeji Central Park and Hirakata Park. Day 9 - Tuesday: Parque Espana. Day 10 - Wednesday: Nagashima Spa Land. Day 11 - Thursday: Universal Studios Japan, train to Tokyo in evening. Day 12 - Friday: Fly out.
  4. When I was at Ocean Park I skipped Dragon, the Arrow looper as I was afraid of it beating the crap out of me. I kind of regret that now because I've grown to realise I actually... like... Arrow loopers *puts flame suit on* Also while in Hong Kong I had a chance to go to Disneyland but decided not to, mainly because Big Grizzly Mountain was opening 3 days after the day I would've visited and being in the park that close to opening and not being able to ride the ride would've killed me. Also in UK I skipped Chessington and Drayton Manor for re-visits to Thorpe Park and Alton Towers. I've skipped a few kiddie credits as well, mainly because I'm not quite that low Also I wasn't with friends so it would've been a bit pointless.
  5. I assume it was about Invertigo being moved to Dorney, and the post was correct in guessing what part of Dorney it'd be located.
  6. I dreamt I was at my local park and discovered that it had a Batman the Ride clone that I somehow hadn't known about. So I rode it, but the carriage broke in two halfway through because I didn't push hard enough. I don't even...
  7. WOW! The pictures taken from a distance made Gatekeeper look a bit bland in colour to me and I wasn't sure if I liked the paint job, but this picture has laid any of my concerns to rest. The ride looks awesome.
  8. Schwarzkopf shampoo lol. Plus there's a van for a cleaning service nearby with B&M written in large letters. Also at my local bus stop there's some large metal supports that remind me of coaster supports.
  9. Never affected me. The most intense hang time i felt was on Wipeout at Dreamworld where we were held upside down for 5 full seconds. I slipped out of my seat completely until all my weight was forward and upwards on the restraints, but it didn't really freak me out.
  10. RCDB has 3 coasters listed for this park. The woodie, an El Loco and a duelling coaster. Is it possible the mine-train type ride is a duelling coaster?
  11. ^^ I think that aggressive rides often are rough as you said, they throw you all over the place like they're trying to kill you. However, sometimes a non-painful ride with a ton of laterals and airtime can be called aggressive, such as Skyrush or Maverick, as they feel like they're trying to throw you out, without actually hurting you (not counting the random reports of thigh pain on Skyrush and head banging on Maverick).
  12. Wow, looks awesome! As for the whole wooden support thing, it seems that all of their coasters built with Martin & Vleminkx use wooden supports rather than the steel ones used on Voyage, Hades and Ravine Flyer.
  13. I definitely agree that there is a difference. I also think there can be coasters that are aggressive, but not intense - such as many wooden coasters.
  14. On Coasterforce's POV of the Coney Island Cyclone, one comment accused it of being a copy of the Georgia Cyclone... I just don't even...
  15. I have to admit, it'd be sad to see Corkscrew go. It's an iconic ride, even if it does suck ass a bit.
  16. 20/20 The scary thing is I didn't even find any of them difficult except the last one. I really need to get out lol.
  17. These new S&S launch coasters really do look incredible. I like how they're fairly lengthy too.
  18. I'm not sure if you mean Arkham Asylum at Movie World or Cyclone at Dreamworld, as operations on both rides are equally terrible. Gold Coast parks definitely know how to turn a short queue into a long wait. Cyclone's unique "the theming broke so we swapped the exit and entry" approach has always confused me. And since both exit and entry intersect they have to have a ride op let you through one group at a time - awful station design. Oops, yes I meant Movieworld. Though I probably should've mentioned Dreamworld as all of their coasters are low capacity, plus Cyclone takes about 5 minutes to inch its way back into the station, are all Arrow loopers like that? Movieworld's operations are fairly good on the most part. I've seen them run three trains on Superman Escape which was very good. I also appreciate that they got an El Loco with increased capacity.
  19. May be doing a NE USA trip next year. Planning on visiting Six Flags New England, Lake Compounce, Quassy, Playland, Coney Island, Hersheypark, Knoebels, Dorney Park and Six Flags Great Adventure. Of course in between we'll be visiting Manhattan, staying with friends in New Jersey etc. Really hope we end up being able to afford the trip!
  20. Grand National. Great, classic racing coaster with a fun layout and a nice, nostalgic feel. Oh, and batcrap INSANE airtime. It's very rough, but the airtime is worth it IMO. The mini double down under "Valentines" was especially insane.
  21. Yay, another Intamin motocoaster! Thank GOD Intamin decided to use those style of restraints. The crouching ones found on Dreamworld's Motocoaster are excruciatingly painful, but these look more like the ones found on Jet Rescue at Sea World. And Jet Rescue is awesome, so I have high hopes for this ride!
  22. I'm scared. What do you think will happen when the ride one day becomes defunct? She'll probably go into depression. I'm actually legitimately concerned that she'll treat herself like a widow.
  23. Am I the only one still laughing at the "That's what she said" joke going over the OPs head? I really can't think of any rides where there are "insufficient" restraints. Often they may feel insufficient and somewhat unsafe, but at least 90% of the time they'll be perfectly safe. The remaining 10% are coasters in China
  24. They used to be really space efficient in their earlier days, the rides were packed in, so much so they even had a second woodie! The "Good Old Days" You're getting your Luna Parks mixed up. The one in Sydney is the one with the Wild Mouse, the one in Melbourne is the one with the Scenic Railway. The Sydney one is actually quite decent, while the Melbourne one is tragic.
  25. Luna Park Melbourne failing to deliver on their promise of a "big surprise" for their 100th anniversary. I was expecting something at least slightly significant, but the announcement was a Reverchon Spinner. Not only that, but the spinner will only be there for Summer. WTF Luna Park? Of all times to reveal plans for at least a minor new permanent attraction the 100th anniversary is perfect. But no. Luna Park will never be rebuilt to the awesomeness it was in the 70's from what I see in the pics, when it used to have a bunch of classic rides which have since been removed. /rant Alton Towers building Rita. It didn't really fit into Ug World, and it doesn't fit into the Black Forest. I'd be able to forgive that if it was a great ride, but it's really quite mediocre. My least favourite of Alton's "big" coasters. Thorpe Park building Storm Surge right in the middle of the midway. It's quite an eyesore. PortAventura adding those abysmal KumbaK trains to Stampida. Just WHY?
