  1. I have a friend in America who was getting really annoyed about her mother dragging the family to Six Flags Great Adventure. She doesnt know how lucky she is, if I won the lottery the first thing I'd do would be fly there just to go to that park!
  2. Ah yeah forgot about that. For some reason I thought their last trip here had been in 2008 or something like that.
  3. Does TPR have any trips to Australia planned in the near future? I was thinking with 2 new major thrill rides opened this year that a 2012 trip may be planned? Thanks.
  4. Sorry I started that. Movieworld is being quite annoying by not releasing any new information. They posted a video which they advertised as a pov video while it's just a remake of the commercial from 2 months ago. Also they strangely won't tell anyone when it's opening, maybe the coaster is having mild issues.
  5. Im not the biggest fan of S&S Spaceshots. We have a 200ft one here in australia (Batwing at movieworld) and it looked intimidating enough to give me second thoughts about riding. However, once I came off I was actually very dissapointed. The first launch is kinda fun and you get a bit of airtime at the top but I really didnt find it thrilling at all.
  6. Havent been on many flat rides but my favourite of the ones Ive been on is The Claw at Dreamworld, its an Intamin Gyro Swing and its awesome.
  7. I remember another. I was in no danger but I was scared out of my mind. I was on a skycoaster attraction and I have a fear of heights unless I'm in a large thing with many people, like a coaster or flat ride. But I was alone dangling on a cable 50m up and quite simply crapping myself. The drop and everything was exhilarating but the trip up was horrible.
  8. 2x Dreamworld - really fun, awesome rides. 1x Warner Bros Movie World - Home to my fave ride, Superman Escape. 1x Wet n Wild (if waterparks count) - home to some freaking amazing slides and a coaster that was closed the sky coaster was insane, my first time on a sky coaster. 3x Aussie World - fairly crappy park with a deathtrap wooden wild mouse and some lame fairground flat rides that me and my friends like to yell out "penis" on as loud as we can. Fun fun.
  9. I know, I realised that after posting and hoped nobody would pick that up.
  10. Thats exactly like the one here in australia. I know these wooden wild mouses have historical value and there are only 3? in the world, but they are scary as hell.
  11. Hi all, I'm trying to make a list of some of the greatest coasters in the world, and will try to tick them off as I ride them. I've tried looking at various lists online, such as "best coasters" lists and stuff but none are very good, with all of them ranking Kingda Ka as the best in the world *rolls eyes* They all seem to have a preference for height and speed and nothing else. This is what I have so far, in no particular order: Megas/Gigas Bizzaro (SFNE) Millenium Force Intimidator 305 Expedition GeForce Goliath (Walibi Holland) Nitro Intimidator Behemoth Silver Star Launchers Top Thrill Dragster (I wont add kingda ka as its pretty much the same, but I think TTD looks better with lapbars and apparently its much smoother) Stormrunner Furius Baco Stealth Maverick iSpeed Cheetah Hunt Blue Fire Loopers Dragon Khan Kumba Bizzaro (SFGA) Kraken Riddlers Revenge Griffon Farenheit Collossus (Thorpe Park) Inverted/Flying Nemesis Black Mamba Katun Alpengeist Montu Afterburn (Carowinds) Volcano: The Blast Coaster Tatsu Manta Wooden (There are wayy more I could add to this but I cant think of any more) El Toro Collosos (Heide Park) Boulder Dash The Voyage Megafobia
  12. The Wooden Wild Mouse at Aussie World. TPR apparently liked it but I hate it. You're in a small one person car and over the hills you get some awful whiplash and the entire ride visibly shakes. I'll do big loops, tall drops and insane acceleration but I can not ride the Wild Mouse.
  13. Don't forget, back in 1999 AUD to USD exchange rate was low. 1 AUD bought approx 63 US cents (Source: http://www.x-rates.com/d/AUD/USD/hist1999.html). This would put the price of Wild West Falls at approx $11.4 mill US. Don't forget, Wild West (IMO) is an pretty amazing ride with good themeing. That's better than a standard B&M. Good point... I'd still love to see us get a Woodie, I reckon our parks could afford that. However it seems our parks are going for compact coasters as well as record breakers (steepest drop in the world, tallest inversion in the southern hemisphere, second of which isnt much to boast about) and an average woodie is neither of these things. Anyway back on topic, look at this video. Seems that the station is nearing completion, so the opening date of the 15th seems likely.
  14. What I dont get is that Wild West Falls is about the same cost as a B&M. For example, a dive coaster like Griffon at BGW cost about $16,000,000 (with the exchange rate thats even less in AUD) while Wild West Falls cost $18,000,000. That would be an amazing addition to Movie World, though Im not sure theyd have space. A B&M invert like Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe park is around $10,000,000 which is apparently how much Green Lantern Cost. Of course Movie World wont make another inverted coaster but still. Hydra the Revenge cost $13,000,000 which is about the same as Scooby Doo cost. So I'd say we shouldnt completely rule out the chances of a B&M in the future But I doubt we'll ever get the Intamin hyper coaster we're all wishing for. One thing I'd love to see in a Australian park is a good wooden coaster. Wonderland sydney had a decent looking one but that was demolished, leaving us with just a scenic railway and 2 wooden wild mouses :/ Anyway Ive gone off topic sorry.
  15. Drove past Green Lantern today. Looks very impressive and quite intimidating at the front of the park. It also gives a good illusion of being the tallest thing in the park with forced perspective, appears to be towering over Superman. I saw the "frame" of the station being built with a car loaded for what was probably for testing later on (didnt stay around long enough to see). Im really hoping the queue line and station will be well themed like the rest of movie worlds rides (besides batwing). With a LED green lantern symbol and speakers on the car it looks like theyre definately going to some effort with theming.
  16. Yeah I agree. I guess in this case a MCBR isn't bad as it's right before the dive loop/whatever it is. That will provide a heck of a lot of hang time, and with lap bars that will be an interesting experience
  17. Video of it testing. Looks like the trim brakes really slow it down on the first drop, but I guess you can't send a car flying down a 122 degree drop with just lap bars and expect everyone to be ok. Anyway looks like its running well, can't wait till opening day.
  18. We desperately need a B&M. Compact dive coaster, anyone? Superman is our only truly great coaster, Tower of Terror is good too but not great. Buzzsaw is surprisingly good, Maurer Sohne are on to something with their little known skyloops. Green lantern will be fun, but not enough to truly put Australia on the map for coasters.
  19. Hey Im Alex from Australia. Ive recently developed a passion for coasters, however we have a fairly limited choice here in Australia. Next year I'll be travelling to UK which will be good, looking forward to riding rides such as the legendary Nemesis
  20. Extremely happy, they just revealed on their facebook page that the drop is 122 degrees, beating Takabisha by 1 degree Looks like theyve gone all out with this El Loco, and its great to see movieword getting another Coaster.
