  1. Well, that's the most tragically hilarious use of the forum filter! I doubt it'll be too long until we get a clear picture of what truly happened. But I'm definitely betting it was due to rider dimensions rather than an actual malfunction, but I won't jump to conclusions until we have that official report.
  2. I don't think it's an issue on Girrafica and Divertical as they use elevator lifts, so rollbacks can't happen. Well, they can happen on Divertical during the coaster section but since the boat is on tracks it cant capsize.
  3. I've never even thought about the potential dangers of water rides having inescapable restraints, but now I'm afraid it'll probably be all I think about next time I'm on a water ride with lapbars.
  4. In someone's somewhat dubious report of the incident they stated it was the red train.
  5. I know it's unimportant in this situation, but that really pisses me off since it just shows the sheer incompetence of the media. How hard is it to google "Texas Giant" and read the height statistic that actually clearly comes up on the right hand side of the search results?
  6. I won't start pointing any fingers until more details are released, but in any case this is extremely sad for the woman's family and friends, as well as the park and ride operators and any witnesses. I know I'd be traumatized if I witnessed an accident like that. Unfortunately the GP are going nuts over this and I'm sure the media will too soon, definitely doesn't look good for Six Flags, RMC or Gerstlauer at this stage, regardless of who was actually at fault here.
  7. It's so funny when someone takes a humorous thread seriously. Besides, a lot of the things talked about here are pretty common sense stuff that you don't need to know much about coasters to know. A six year old can tell whether or not a coaster has inversions by looking at it. Just as most people with an ounce of common sense realise that 99% of theme park rides are totally safe.
  8. Official Press Release Here! Adventure World, a small theme park in Perth, Australia, will be getting a new custom eurofighter for late 2013. Its been discussed on Australian coaster sites for quite some time while basic, unremarkable groundwork was being done but now we have seen the first proper construction update with track for an indoor dark section going up, so I figured it was noteworthy enough to post here. I'm really excited to see how the layout for this coaster turns out based off some of Gerstlauer's latest projects. It's cool to see that the indoor inline twist is becoming a trademark for Gerstlauer's coasters (Saw, Takabisha, Smiler, Karacho). I have to say, the indoor layout for this coaster looks startlingly similar to Saw the Ride's indoor layout.
  9. Great pics, still drooling over Tokyo Disneysea, so I suppose the photos of Tobu Zoo were cool too Also, being an animal nerd I'm afraid I can't help myself from pointing out that that "sloth" is actually a tapir. I'm done.
  10. All coasters look great! Fjord Dragon seems to have at least got to the testing stage based on these photos.
  11. I understand that the launch system was in bad condition, but couldn't they have got Gerstlauer to give it an LSM launch system like at Walibi Belgium? Or was the track probably at the end of its life too?
  12. Such a shame it seems that a lot of effort is required to have a decent day at that park. I really want to visit Fuji Q one day as Takabisha and Dodonpa look totally awesome, but I know that if I visited Japan I would quite literally dread the day I'd have to tackle Fuji Q and its seemingly ridiculous operations/policies.
  13. Shame, the MCBR seems to still slow it down a fair bit. But I'm sure it's still a great ride. Can't wait to see what it'll look like when the theming and decoration is done since I assume they're not leaving the station as a concrete box.
  14. There isn't much made by Japanese manufacturers that good but the Ultra Twisters were made by TOGO along with Bandit I've heard good things about. Ultra Twisters don't look smooth and Bandit looks painful when it enters the helix judging from the videos. Why doesn't it use lap bar like Fujiyama? From Robb's rider cam videos the Ultratwisters appear to deliver very little head banging, same for Bandit. Also, no offense, but if people such as Robb and many others on this site have actually ridden these rides and said they were good, why claim otherwise only based on what you've assumed from looking at pictures?
  15. Silver Star and Shambhala say hello. Expedition GeForce and Golaith (Walibi Holland), though not hypers, are the same type of coaster, so they could be tacked on as well. He was referring solely to hypercoasters made by Arrow Dynamics.
  16. ^^ Either he's using some subtle form of sarcasm I'm unaware of or he's referring to some of Japan's actual great coasters (Kawasemi, Pyrenees etc), none of which are actually built by Japanese manufacturers.
  17. I assume one hasn't been built because Intamin and B&M dominate that market. I think a Vekoma hypercoaster would be fun with Vekoma's newer track system. Let's not forget that Vekoma have come a long way in the past few years and the days of rough SLCs and Loopers are over for them now that they've ditched the Arrow-style track.
  18. When I was at Thorpe Park I noticed that Saw the Ride was dead silent during testing. I think it's mainly the newer Eurofighters, as Speed No Limits at Oakwood has a very loud roar.
  19. Well I'll be in the region this September. Hopefully it hasn't blown up by then.
  20. Love the addition of vines to this update. Owl/10 Suppose petting zoos are pretty different in Japan. I'm a big fan of rodents of unusual size.
  21. This is awesome news! I also think that Twisted Twins will be getting iron horse treatment, otherwise they probably wouldn't have mentioned a basic wooden retrack. I think T2 will definitely be getting new trains, and though I haven't ridden one with the new Vekoma restraints, I've been on a formerly brutal one with the similar KumbaK restraints and it is actually a very decent ride now. I think simply improving the ride experience of the SLC is a very worthwhile investment as these rides are popular with the GP. I've heard Thunder Run is a good ride so I hope it's still in decent condition, and if not they give it a bit of retracking. Shame to hear no news about Greezed Lightnin'. Is it just the launch system in bad shape? Because if so they could easily get Gerstlauer to replace it with a magnetic launch system like on Walibi Belgium's shuttleloop.
  22. I believe Goudurix is being retracked? With Vekoma's new track and restraint system it could be a really decent ride. That being said, it does seem like a bit too much work and it would make more sense to scrap it altogether.
  23. Something tells me that whoever made this coaster isn't as good with calculations as Anton Schwarzkopf
  24. That looping coaster looks like a death machine. Isn't that circular loop the same shape as the ones that used to break people's necks in the 20's?
  25. Those trains look fantastic and the seats themselves look really comfortable. Also, serious props to the pig.
