Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
australianalex replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What I am glad about though is that the bulk of people that saw this were enthusiasts who realize that this was fake...you know the GP would think its real and begin sharing it among their GP friends. At least now with the flood of comments stating the fake/pointing out the obvious...and the original user has already made an idiot of himself so much that he's lost all credibility... In the end, we 'crashed' his video before it could go viral I'd hope that most non enthusiasts would have the sense to realize that it's fake. I mean, you just need a basic knowledge of physics or even just basic common sense to realise it's fake. Though that seems to be two thinks the GP are lacking, so... -
Knoebels Discussion Thread
australianalex replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually love that the person running the Knoebels page is actually direct and knowledgeable rather than copying and pasting a stock standard reply that doesn't really answer anything and only works to promote the ride/park, like pretty much every other park's FB page does. -
Worst Ride Name

See, to us foreigners Ukko seems like a pretty cool name. But the fact that it translates to guy is pretty hilarious. -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
australianalex replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I came up with a bizarre idea for a coaster element. Imagine a hairpin turn, but tilted on its side so the coaster travels along a 90 degree banked section of track before doing a 180 degree turn, still with the coaster banked at 90 degrees. Basically, imagine a zacspin with a regular coaster car running along the side of it. Would the forces experienced through this turn even be safe? -

I thought Wodan had its wheels switched back to steel recently? Or was that just an untrue bit of speculation? -

Yep! A few pages back one of the Ohio nut jobs called me "TPR's most negative member" for pointing out the widely known fact that modern B&M inverts aren't as good as the old school ones like Dragons, Montu, Katun, Batman, Nemesis, etc. Banshee will be a smashing success for the park and WAYYYYY better than SOB. But one needs to go into this with realistic expectations considering the types of rides B&M is building these days. I actually liked all the more "recent" B&M coasters I've been on and wouldn't consider them forceless. I agree this coaster won't beat the likes of Pyrenees, Katun and Nemesis but it'll be a smooth, fun coaster and I'm sure it'll have some intensity. I mean hell, I found the Swarm at Thorpe Park to fairly intense and overall a very good ride and that was 3 days after riding Nemesis. -

Not sure about the new restraints. Most B&M coasters are so smooth that I never have problems with their standard OTSR's, but the vest restraints can be a bit uncomfortable when they tighten. But anyway, wow! That layout looks awesome! Also not too sure about the inline twist but who cares - the first drop and the batwing look great! -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

I just checked and under every YouTube video of NTAG, the comments are "currently unavailable." What's going on with that? Is YouTube doing this? Must have been a Youtube wide glitch for you because all comments are visible to me. -

A Facebook comment on a photo about a new Gerstlauer Eurofighter in Adventure World, Perth (note that the page has stated it was built in Germany, otherwise the idiot who said this comment wouldn't know any different) - Andrew Charles I will not go on it keep jobs in Australia not Germany wrong Jesus christ, how stupid can one person be? I invite him to find one coaster manufacturer here in Australia. Besides, most of the construction workers would be Australian. And finally, who actually cares? -

Cool pics! I think you meant to type White Cyclone though. White Canyon was the evil RCCA woodie at Yomiuriland. -
I'm surprised they so openly stated it's a near clone of Saw. Though I would've liked to see a custom layout, I really loved Saw when I rode it last year so I'm really excited about this! Was hoping for lapbars but I don't find Gerstlauer's OTSR's too intrusive. Anyway, here's the news report on it. Considering the poor quality of most Australian news stories I was ready for it to be a massive cringefest, but surprisingly it was quite well researched and informative - they actually sent a reporter to the Gerstlauer factory in Germany.

Great interview Robb, i also get the feeling you must've had more to say but you managed to get the point across perfectly in the time you had. I also respect your ability to stay calm, especially after the inaccurate facts presented by the newswoman before your interview (steepest drop?). Hopefully many members of the GP were watching and listened.

Jeez, July 2013 is the Themeparkpocalypse it seems. Not to mention that this is the second blow to Gerstlauer's reputation in 2 days, although unlike with the Texas Giant incident this is definitely a fault in engineering.
