  1. Saw the Ride is underrated by coaster enthusiasts. Sure, it's a bit rough but from the things people say on here you'd expect it was the steel spawn of Satan. For me it was the only coaster at Thorpe Park that truly blew me away on the first ride. In my opinion it's the second best coaster in the UK, after Nemesis. The dark ride portion is excellent with a nice surprise drop, and the outdoor section of the layout is intense and relentless, with at least 2 moments of ejector airtime. There may be some headbanging, sure, but I found it much more tolerable than my headache inducing rides on Colossus, a coaster which people seem to rave about for reasons I cannot really understand. I also enjoyed it much more than Speed: No Limits at Oakwood, which is often referred to as the best Eurofighter. So that's interesting.
  2. I recently noticed on the POV posted by Robb on Youtube that Colossos seems to have what appear to be trim brakes on the first, second and third drops of the ride. Can anyone who's ridden Colossos recently confirm wether or not they make an actual difference to the ride quality or if they're unnoticeable like the ones on Skyrush?
  3. I'm not quite sure how to classify sustained ejector, but I think it may be something like the airtime hill on Speed: No Limits which throws you upwards and keeps you there for 2 full seconds. In that case, sustained ejector is my favorite. Though sustained floater can be fun. It's a pleasant, non-intense experience that can add to a really fun, re-rideable ride.
  4. Oh God I hate those people who hate fastpass. It's like complaining that first class passengers get comfier plane seats just because they paid 4x more for a ticket.
  5. Awesome! Still don't get why people are hating on the entrance. I think it looks awesome, especially with Gatekeeper's zero G roll.
  6. I'd say many people would disagree with you calling Silver Bullet's layout great, partially because if the first drop were any less steep it'd be classified as a turn.
  7. Camelback hill on Speed: No Limits - some of the strongest sustained airtime I've ever experienced. First drop on Blackpool's Revolution - back seat has some ejector airtime. Seriously underrated ride. Thirteen's freefall - Yes it's a gimmick, and the rest of the ride is crap, but the freefall drop is a pretty insane experience and stands out in my mind.
  8. Medusa's layout really reminds me of Dinn/RCCA coasters, as do many of CCI's later coasters. Sounds like it rides like a Dinn as well. Could probably use RMC treatment as Robb said.
  9. Woo, Bullet's being resurrected! I knew it's final resting place would be Mexico - the country seems to be something of a retirement village for Schwarzkopf coasters.
  10. "Mexican Chinese Knock-off Loop Screw" is possibly the most terrifying thing I have ever heard
  11. Even so called "forceless" B&M's are still great coasters IMO. As others said they're smooth, fun and re-rideable.
  12. There's probably not a thread dedicated to this as there are tons of Aqualoop slides and similar models all over the world. But you sure have a knack for storytelling.
  13. Even though I haven't been on it, Afterburn seems to have an awesome layout. No midcourse break run or redundant turns, just relentless B&M awesomeness.
  14. I'm sure that it's clearly Alton Tower's fault that UK gets crap weather and her husband is fat.
  15. Most parks test their coasters like that. They'll do some runs with the lift hill at an abnormally slow speed, and then some with the lift hill at an abnormally high speed. When it opens the lift hill will of course be much faster, and the ride is going to haul ass, if that's how fast its going on a slow run!
  16. I'd say Full Throttle, but the fact that it's still being referred to as Yolocoaster here made me vote Gatekeeper. Oh, great. I see that If I type the word F U L L T H R O T T L E it turns into Full Throttle. Guess that explains why everyone's been referring to it as that.
  17. Looks like I better get to Japan soon. I'm already 178cm and still growing, may top 185 in a few years
  18. I hate Arrow/Vekoma breakruns due to how suddenly and painfully they stop. You sit through a painful ride of head banging before getting whiplash when it comes to a stop. Not fun. I'm also not a fan of most helices, with the exception of Nemesis' helix after the corkscrew - pure awesomeness
  19. Well that was unexpected! Looks good, bet the ride experience is better now. B&M trains are much comfier and more open.
  20. I'm currently in an argument on Coasterforce's Mindbender (SFOG) Youtube video with a person who claims that Mindbender's "third loop" (the helix/drop) is clearly an inversion, and I must be stupid in thinking it isn't. He's probably trolling, but I'm having fun with this argument so I'll just let it play out.
  21. ^^ I hate that. It's a shame that there are people like this in pretty much every country. Here at Australian parks I've noticed it from tourists but sadly largely from locals too. People assume that because they paid for the ticket they own the place and can do whatever they want. Ruins it for everyone.
  22. 26/26 Have been to very few international parks - I just spend a lot of time on RCDB and have a skill for memorizing useless trivia
  23. I'm disappointed that all Motocoasters from different manufacturers were lumped like that. I believe there should be a single entry for all Zamperla Motocoasters as they're all pretty much clones, but the two Intamin motocoasters should be seperate as they are extremely different from the Zamperla ones. Hell, the two Intamin motocoasters are extremely different from each other - Jet Rescue is my #11 while Mick Doohan's Motocoaster is around #40 out of 46 coasters. I didn't notice wether the Vekoma motocoasters were lumped in that entry as well, but I know that they are very different from the Zamperla and Intamin ones too. On a different note, these results just made me extremely excited about my East Coast USA trip this year considering I'll end up riding the #4 and #7 rated steel coasters (not to mention the #1 rated wooden coaster!). One last observation for now, I'm surprised X:/ No Way Out is in the bottom 10 with abysmal rides like Goudurix and the Zamperla Volares. Sure, it's a pretty lame ride but Imo it's also stupidly fun and unusual. I think the bottom 10 should be reserved for really painful rides that make you wish you never rode them, and X:/ No Way Out isn't that.
  24. Well I'm happy that Superman Escape managed to get enough votes to appear on the poll this year at #21, probably due to TPR's 2011 trip to Australia Also really cool to see Nemesis still near the top of the poll despite being twice as old as many of the other coasters up there. Surprised Hair Raiser only placed at #58 considering the praise it received recently. Not saying it deserves top 10, but when Eejanaika places above it you know something is wrong
  25. Can't believe how big this thing became considering it started here on the Sunshine Coast. To be honest I find the Harlem Shake really annoying and stupid. The whole idea is dumb and the song actually hurts my ears.
