  1. If it rains, most of the coasters will go down. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Boomerang is the only coaster the park will operate if it is raining. Most of the flat rides should continue to operate in the rain, as long as it doesn't affect visibility or include extreme wind or lightning. While I do believe the park is visually inspecting the cable on a daily basis, I don't see them thoroughly inspecting the core of the cable with magnetism every morning. I guess what it comes down to is whether the park was inspecting the cable as they were instructed to by the SOPs, the manufacturer, and the state, as Jew mentioned a couple of posts up.
  2. Because they got there first and knew what to do before EMS arrived? Just because they are a manager doesn't mean that they can't assist the person if needed. Although an employee running to the bathroom is a very bad thing. My concern isn't so much that a manager is helping with it, especially right when it happened. It's the idea that the police got to the scene before the park's emergency staff. Obviously this is the first report that I've read, and I'm sure there's plenty of missing information, but still. Maybe MO doesn't have anyone trained to deal with that kind of stuff, or possibly the management dealing with it was trained. It just seems odd either way.
  3. FIrst of all, why are two park managers providing the first aid rather than Security and/or an EMT? It just seems so poorly handled, between that and the employee running to the bathroom instead of doing something. From the sound of this, they could/should get in serious trouble. Lap bars don't just pop open randomly unless something's really wrong, and this isn't a new ride... I respect that without all the information, we can't make a solid judgement, but this makes the park look really bad, and their reputation isn't helping them in the least.
  4. I would really miss it! It's old school, and really isn't rough. It just throws you around a bit. I found Maverick to be a more painful experience. This is why people think it should go I think they already own more land back there. Plus if they reworked that entire area (the path up to Thunder Canyon and Ex) they could make room.
  5. Wow, sounds like Opa must have been "very aggressive today!"
  6. My personal list as a local: 1. Disneyland 2. Knotts 3. California Adventure 4. Magic Mountain 5. USH As others have said, if you're just looking for credits, hit Knott's and Magic Mountain. If you're looking for a full theme park experience, do Disney and Knott's. If you have extra time, you could hit Universal. Honestly though, I tend to only visit that park during horror nights. Otherwise, there really just isn't that much to do.
  7. If that is the case, then I guess we have nothing to worry about. Despite that, it still feels a little embarrassing because Banshee is already finished with track construction, and this area still doesn't look like much. Something else to consider is the fact that Banshee probably will require more preparation and testing than standard flats will. Nothing embarrassing about it.
  8. I would love to see a flying dutchman shuttle coaster. If we're allowed to talk about flat rides as well (someone mentioned a condor/star flyer) I would pay big money to ride a 400-foot starflyer-esque version of flying scooters. Snapping would be absolutely terrifying.
  9. ^Agreed, and to expand on that, although we haven't received any real "thrill" additions in the last several years, if we look at how the park has changed overall from '07 to now, it's clear that some very important improvements have been made. The whole park looks much nicer and has offered more, from new signage, pavers, updated entrance plaza, new family areas, new food options, new events (Pink days, for example), picnic point, etc. These are the kind of things that have needed to happen for the park to do better overall, and I'm sure that the thrill seekers will have their day sometime in the near future.
  10. It's typical amusement park/event concessions pricing.
  11. It honestly depends on what you want, but some favorite places for a meal are: Coasters Drive In- There's a number of these in the Cedar Fair chain, and this one happens to be my favorite as (I think) it's the largest, and has the most options. The malts are really good! Also, it's air conditioned which is a plus Stadium Pizza and Grill - Good combination of items. There are some really good sandwiches to choose from, and the pizza is pretty good. It's got a fun atmosphere, since you can watch a variety of sports inside while you eat. Sidewinder Burrito - Great Mexican food and a good selection of beers For snacks during the day, I recommend the mini donuts from Cinnabon, and the fresh-made fries from Fryar Tucks. Also, the funnel cakes are amazing. My personal favorite from this year was the cookies and cream one.
  12. I really hope someone builds this. It looks crazy fun! Plus the seats and restraints look way more comfortable than the zacspin ones.
  13. Titan at SFOT and Millenium Force, the first time I rode it. Also, my vision gets slightly blurred during the loop on Montezooma's Revenge, if I'm in the front row.
  14. When I'm at school: 1. Knott's Berry Farm 2. Disneyland Resort 3. Six Flags Magic Mountain At home: Valleyfair Nickelodeon Universe Either Adventureland in Iowa or the stuff in Wisconsin Dells.
  15. As other have said - Holy crap... the sound is incredible! And of course, all of these stations look great. I am so excited for this program!
  16. ^I did! It was awesome! While rather crowded (though not nearly as bad as the weekend before) there were so many non-ride things to do that I still had a great time. Some highlights were the 80's tribute band, fireworks, and of course the ice show which has been running during all of Merry Farm.
  17. I'm unfortunately having to wait for the Mac version, but I'm still insanely excited for the 10th because I can't wait to see what people create with this!
  18. 1. Outlaw Run 2. Superman Ultimate Flight @ SFDK 3. Xcelerator
  19. Already done around 12:30 AM -- Montezooma's Revenge at Knott's
  20. So kinda like a ridiculously tall Huss Condor? I don't know that it would be a huge waste.... i mean, it sounds better than the windseekers.
  21. ^The Far Side is so great.... This is an excellent response that really gives light to what Blackfish ignores, which is the massive amounts of good SeaWorld does for marine life. I think SeaWorld will be fine. Most of the trolls I've come into contact with lately have done no research other than watch the film, and as Jew said, I really feel like this is the new Kony 2012-esque bandwagon thing that will go away eventually.
  22. I would get rid of the "No Snapping" policy that is sadly found on so many flying scooter rides. I understand why parks have that rule, though... As for an actual ride modification, I would love to see an S&S space shot with seats that flip. I feel like they were experimenting with that at some point, or at least tilting seats, but I don't think 360 degree rotation has ever been done.
  23. The most intense tower I've been on is probably Detonator at Worlds of Fun. I was definitely not expecting that, after having ridden several taller versions. My least favorite probably goes to Cedar Point. It's not the tallest ride in the park, so it doesn't offer as much of a "wow" factor when it comes to that, and it also was the least forceful of the towers I've ridden.
  24. 1. Maverick 2. Millenium Force 3. Magnum 4. Top Thrill Dragster 5. Raptor 6. Gemini 7. Blue Streak 8. Wildcat 9.Disaster Transport 10.Wicked Twister 11. Iron Dragon 12. Mean Streak 13. Corkscrew 14. Jr. Gemini 15. Mantis I haven't experienced Gatekeeper, so I'm no sure where that would fall on the list.
