Good Eating Outside of Theme Parks
dippindotsguy8 replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Valleyfair Lunch or Dinner: Lion's Tap is an awesome burger joint with a very simple menu and amazing food. It's about ten minutes away from the park. -16180 Flying Cloud Drive, Eden Prairie, MN- Also lunch or dinner:Buffalo Tap is also a great restaurant with a variety of burgers, wings, etc. They also have the juicy lucy, which if you don't know is a burger with the cheese inside the patty. It's located in Savage on highway 13, roughly 10 or 15 minutes from the park. -4990 W 123rd St. Savage, MN- Nickelodeon Universe/Mall of America Lunch or Dinner: Fat Lorenzo's features amazing pizza, hoagies, pasta, and gelato. They have two locations, one in Minneapolis and one in Bloomington (which is about five minutes from the mall). -311 West 84th Street, Bloomington, MN- -
New B&M trains on Steel Dragon
dippindotsguy8 replied to Trevor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Personally, I love the morgan trains, and the morgan hypers in general. This whole concept is interesting, though it does seem to really mess with the hight of the seats and therefore the height requirements. As yet another person over 6'1", I can't really get excited about these unless the height problem was specific to Steel Dragon. -

Favorite: Demon Drop - CP/Dorney. Something about the first-gen models is just crazy! Runner up: LL: DOD at SFMM. It just keeps going and going and going... -
Today I learned one in seven people are against fun. ^Lol! I'm relieved to hear that they made the right decision. It seemed like a no-brainer to me, but again, it's sad that the case made it that far in court. Rosenberg is trying to paint the picture that there is now zero accountability for the parks to maintain and safely operate their attractions. How ridiculous! They made it very clear that parks still are expected not to do anything that causes an attraction to become more dangerous that it is by nature.

Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

^I think Wildthing runs as fast as the park wants it to. Plus, in my opinion, it's great because of all the floater air you get in the front seat. -
Vanilla Sprite, from the Buffalo Wild Wings in Mall of America. Gotta love those freestyle machines

I've been on a decent handful of them, and so far the best ones I've been on are at Worlds of Fun and Valleyfair (haven't been on the Kisemee one yet). The lift tower and the main tower are close enough together on those two that you get a pretty good freefall in before all of the slack is picked up. Also, going by yourself tends to give more of a nose dive during the initial fall (at least from my experience), and while you don't swing as far out as on a 3-man flight, it's just as crazy because there's literally nothing and no one to hold on to.

As much as I like the concept of the wooden shuttle, I really wouldn't want to see it at Knott's. Almost all of Knott's coasters are gimmicks. That's not necessarily bad, but lets look at the lineup: 1.Boomerang - Shuttle 2.Xcelerator - Launched, somewhat a one-trick pony 3.Zoom - Launched and Shuttle. Great but also one trick 4.Sierra Sidewinder - Spinner 5.Pony Express - Launched, doesn't really do much else 6.Silver Bullet - Inverted, multi-looper 7.Ghostrider- The only sit-down, non-spinning, non-launched, complete-circuit rollercoaster in the park (not counting timberline) I think the reason Ghostrider is still so popular despite it's roughness is the fact that it has the longest layout, offers the most thorough ride experience, and is the only "normal" coaster in the park. By normal, I mean not shuttled, not launched, and not some kind of special vehicle (spinning/inverted). Knott's doesn't need another launcher or shuttler. Hopefully the mouse that's being added will somewhat round out the lineup. I also think a hyper or giga in the future would also help provide a balance. People love GR and SB because they are decently long. Most of the other coasters are really short. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Montezooma's and Xcelerator. I just think that the park is a little heavy on the "innovative but short" coaster side.

Now that I think about it, this is going to be the first inverting "wood" coaster since SOB that actually runs on typical wooden track, if I'm not mistaken. I'm really glad they are going to do something that, at least temporarily, brings the ride back to it's former quality. I really hope they manage to add a second train as well.
