  1. After this morning, I have to add Gerstlauer Sky Flys to my list. I just rode the one at Nickelodeon Universe, and holy crap it's amazing.
  2. The issue with lap bars wouldn't be about falling out or not. If there would be an issue, it would be how forcefully people are thrown forward during the launch. I'm no expert, and I'm not sure what the limits are on things like that, but that's the only reason I coul think of for adding OTSR's. I certainly hope this rumor is true! I'd love going up that spike looking face-down. And hopefully as vacoaster09 said, they would turn one backwards and keep one forwards.
  3. I like 96.3 KTWIN in the Minneapolis/St Paul, MN area. One of the few "variety" stations that actually is a variety of old and new music. I also listen to 92.5 KQRS for classic rock. I also will take this time to admit that I like listening to talk radio. AM 1130 KTCN is enjoyable.
  4. Triggernel, about the target shooting picture.... to clear my name, I was not given a full 15 shots if you remember correctly. I maintain that I only missed 1 or 2. Nice pictures! I'm looking forward to opening day!
  5. These updates are making me so jelous! I'm moving to California this fall though, so maybe next year
  6. Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird.
  7. Today at Mall of America, I heard someone commenting about the new slides which are currently under construction for the ropes course- "Woah, look! It's broken! The slides have straps holding them up! Not safe..."
  8. I would totally do fear factor if it weren't for the eating/drinking challenges. The physical stuff doesn't scare me in the least. I will try to get on wipout sometime though. That looks hella fun
  9. I'm with Piers on this. Not the least bit surprised. It is very sad, however. It's so disappointing to see someone with that much talent bring herself down. To think where she could have been today if she had kept her life on track...
  10. Some of my favorites: Highschool never ends- Bowling For Soup American Pie- Don Mclean Down Under- Men At Work Running Just to Catch Myself- Mark Shultz Crazy- Gnarls Barkley Over My Head (Cable Car)- The Fray Politik- Coldplay
  11. -Valleyfair -Nickelodeon Universe -Timber Falls -SFGAm -Cedar Point -Little Amerrika -Knotts -DCA/DLR -SFMM
  12. Excalibur at Valleyfair had several changes fairly soon after opening. An airtime hill was removed, the first turn was re-profiled, and trims were added to the first drop. The trains also originally carried upstop pads rather than upstop wheels. Now, unfortunately, the drop is slowed down quite a bit, and there is an awkwardly long straight stretch between the drop and the first turn. It's still a fun ride, but it's definitely not what it used to be.
  13. ^I find it funny that the outrage is about that, rather than the fact that so many of their rides are recycled.
  14. On a photo of the Leviathan train posted on CW's facebook- And I'd love to know which of these have been "FAILING ALL THE TIME". And silly gp, the "backup" belt is only there to prove an accident was your fault because you tampered with the restraint.
  15. Both Renegade and Excalibur at VF are quite fun in the rain if it's at night. They are both somewhat outside the main park area so there isn't much light at all. The best ride I've ever had on Excalibur was at a ride night, pitch black, and pouring. Wet trims=Crazy airtime on the ejector hill! Zeus at night in the rain was also pretty crazy, but the back car felt like it had no upstop wheels, so that kinda took away from the experience.
  16. I don't understand why the assumption is that CF should have built more rides. The park was already too big for the market to support it. Downsizing was the answer, not expanding. Why in the heck would it make sense for them to dump more and more money into a park that they were already losing money on? The market clearly was not interested in more rides, otherwise SF's rapid expansion wouldn't have burned them so badly. The closing may have been mishandled, with no warning, but still. I don't see how anyone could justify the risk of adding another ride. I think the two mistakes CF made were: 1. Closing the wildlife park 2. Buying the property in the first place I think they knew it was a dying park in the last few years, and were not really concerned about saving it. They were trying to figure out the best exit strategy.
  17. I think Six Flags tried to make it into something it wasn't. It got too big too fast. The market wasn't large enough to support that size of a park, but they kept investing. Cedar Fair bought it, and decided not to keep adding rides because that plan clearly wasn't working. I think closing the wildlife park and later closing the ride side of the park only caused it's inevitable decline to happen faster. In my opinion, if Cedar Fair had kept investing in the ride side of the park, it would only have cost them more money. It was probably the best financial decision they could make to get some of the rides out and send them to other parks where they will be able to make a profit off them. They had to cut their losses.
  18. He does have somewhat of a point, though, because lots of B&M coasters feature the same elements (Loop, Diveloop, Zero G, Cobra Roll, Corkscrews, etc). Green Lantern is an odd ride to bring that up on though.... It does stand out from the rest (Horrible pun, I know). EDIT- Has this guy ever heard of Gerstlauer? Intamin? There are plenty of companies out there that do original stuff.
  19. If it was a decent credit I'd not been on, and wasn't going to have another chance anytime soon, or if it was my last ride ever on something, I'd wait as long as I needed to. Otherwise, I won't wait more than an hour for anything I've already been on. At my home park, since I'm there for work 6 days a week, I almost won't go on anything that's not a walk-on or close to it (10-15 minutes or less). "There's always tomorrow" *Unless I'm there with friends and I've actually set apart a day to go.
  20. Valleyfair -Plant more trees/do some sort of landscaping in order to add something to the walkway to Steel Venom. Now that both Skyscraper and Chaos have been removed, it's become an awkward, empty, random stretch of pavement. -Do something different for Live E this year. All of our shows (except IMAX, which I'll get to in a moment) are the same thing: Singing and dancing -Fix the IMAX projector (At the moment, full screen doesn't work....)
  21. In line for the Log Chute at Mall of America- "Did you know that this used to be at Valleyfair? They moved it in here just a couple years ago"
  22. On the TPR facebook page, someone commented on a POV of Cyclops: "This is a baby's ride. Look up Kingda Ka"
  23. Yesterday night, I rode the Fairly odd coaster/Timberland twister (Nickelodeon Universe's gerstlauer spinner), with a couple members of the gp. It was very entertaining. First, when we sit down, its the comment about "OMFG there's seat belts AND lap bars... this must mean someone flew out of it before!" Next, it's "OMG why does the chain not stay down on the track at the beginning of the lift? I've never seen that on any of the other rides here. Is that safe?!". Then lastly, since NU has a habbit of only putting one ride op on everything, after our car was dispatched, we had to wait on the brakes before the lift while the operator was loading the other car. This was met with the ever popular "OH NOES... IT BROKE! I think its stuck!"
