Funny thing is, KBF runs Wipeout on the "short cycle." It also has a "long cycle" where it will stop and reverse direction mid-cycle. Too much guest discomfort caused the park to use the short cycle only. Operators are not allowed to run it on "long cycle." Holy crap. I can handle just about anything flat rides can dish out, but I think the long cycle would be a step too far for me. The wipeouts at Knott's and WOF are two of those rare rides that I am actually ready for the cycle to be over.

I know the main issue people had with the B&M trains was that it cut down on the maximum height riders could be, and they also don't allow as much "wiggle room" as the morgan trains. I haven't experienced the B&M trains, but I really like how much you can move around in the morgan trains... you don't feel the least bit stapled, and can more fully experience the floater air. Other than the slightly restricted view, I really don't see a problem with the trains. -
Exactly. Seat belts are 1000x better than OTSR's. I'd love to see Revolution without them one day I really hope this day comes. This, on the other hand, is never going to happen. It would certainly be interesting though. And about the people complaining about the belts, the frustration comes from the fact that they are most likely unnecessary. On the other hand, if they were necessary, we should be upset that these rides were cleared to operate for years without them. It makes sense that the parks feel the need to look safer, but it's irritating, nonetheless.

New park operating procedures
dippindotsguy8 replied to Sue's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I agree with a lot of that. I get the feeling that too many of these changes are being made in order to have the rides appear more safe, rather than to solve actual problems. If after investigating, they came to the conclusion that the same mistakes that led to the Texas Giant accident could actually be made on these other rides, and seat belts would prevent that, I guess that's what they have to do. However I have my doubts. It really just feels like an attempt to look like they're doing the right thing. -
Favorite Dark Ride

Pirates at DLR, no question. Transformers at USH is a runner up, and I also have a soft spot for Fire in the Hole at SDC -
Years ago, when it was new, I ranked it extremely high. But in the last few years, my experience has generally been that it is, without contest, the roughest, most painful wooden rollercoaster I've ever been on. Ghostrider, which I rode just a few days ago, was smooth as glass compared to Hades. I haven't been back to the park since they added the inversion, but it sounds like it's pretty much just as bad as usual even with whatever re-tracking they did.

I have often dreamed of that! Steeper lift, steeper drop, bring back the bunny hop, convert the big turn into an overbank, etc. Oh, and no trims please! -

Well, it's not in California, and it's not Six Flags, so there is still plenty of time to get it finished before next year. Lol, you're right about it not being six flags However, as someone whose home park was Valleyfair for my entire life up until a year ago, my speculation is coming from how far in the construction process they usually are at this point in the year. You're correct, they could get it done, but I'm still placing my bet on 2015 due to how they've operated in the past. It will certainly be interesting to see how this plays out though, and the possibility of expanding the warterpark is exciting. There's really a lot that could be done with that. -

Judging by the fact that we are halfway through November, and the site doesn't appear to be fully cleared yet, I don't think we'll see anything happen there for 2014 besides grass. My guess is that the removal needed to happen now, because they want to be able to start on whatever is planned early next fall. If it is a waterpark expansion, they could start that as early as labor day. Of course it's remotely possible to see something added for next year, but judging by how far along they are, I'm skeptical of that. -

^Agreed. As much as I would love to see something replace it, I feel like we would have seen the building come down earlier in the year if that was happening for 2014. It's not out of the realm of possibility, but as Triggernel pointed out, they've been willing to replace things with grass many times. I'm leaning towards not seeing anything over there until 2015. This is still really great though! For a park that is at the point where they have to remove attractions to build new ones, this is a good deal. It's one of only two places that the water park can realistically expand, and is an attraction that was really getting tired IMO. -
In my opinion time passed him by and he was close minded regarding ideas that could grow the company. i.e.: reluctance to implement a skip the line system. Horrible business decision regarding to the price Cedar Fair paid for the Paramount Parks. He was in favor of just giving up on the company (selling to Apollo Group) when Cedar Fair was so close to turning the business around. Many people think he treated the Cleveland market unfairly with Geauga Lake. Personally, I had no problem with him favoring Cedar Point since it is clearly the flagship park of the chain, but others did not like that attitude. Yeah, I never hated Kinzel, and he did some really good things for the company while he was there. However, there were definitely some decisions that some would argue were bad, and I think the change in leadership/vision has been good for the chain.

Best B&M sitting coaster?
dippindotsguy8 replied to rcjp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only had the opportunity to ride Kumba and Wildfire. Of those, I liked Kumba better, but I suspect that I'd like Khan even more if I ever got the chance to try it. -
I would go with Cedar Fair. I have found that, as others have eluded to, Six Flags seems to be really inconsistent from park to park when it comes to service and operations. I also feel like I've seen less run-down looking Cedar Fair parks than Six Flags parks. While Six Flags seems to have been putting in more coasters, they seem to forget about the rest of the amusement park experience, and that's something that Cedar Fair is better at providing.

Currently, I have a 2013 Thrill Pass at SFMM, 2013 Knott's Season Pass , and a SoCal Disneyland pass (expiring soon... probably not renewing. Gotta save some $$) -

^In that case, what park do you think they would ever relocate a windseeker from? The Knott's one was moved because they couldn't get the state to approve it, and all of the other ones are up and running and only have been in the parks for a couple of seasons. If Valleyfair were to receive a windseeker, it would have to be a new one. Depending on where they put it, it would need to be custom made and no taller than 270-some feet or so. After seeing just how much fun Cedar Fair has had with trying to get these things open and working, buying another seems ridiculous. Never say never, but let's just say it's one of the last things we should ever expect to see at VF.
