  1. To all the haters of the park, here's an analogy of why some of us miss the park. The passing of the park is sort of like what I found out today about my grandmothers house in Cleveland Ohio. Her house wasn't anything spectacular, but it was where I grew up, similar to the Big Dipper. (where my love of coasters began) The house was in Slavic Village, built in 1870, and has now been torn down. It was familiar, comfortable and full of good times past. At least I have lots of good memories.
  2. Two things always fascinated me as a kid at amusement parks, manually operated skid brakes on coasters and Sky Ride mechanisms. Imagine my delight when this year there has been proposals for a sky ride system of mass transit in St Pete and Clearwater. The clearwater one really makes sense as the causeway to the beach is a big B****. The St pete one would have a line north to south and on east to west running for miles through the city. Multiple stops on the route even to the beaches. Cool concept, but I don't believe it will happen. But still cool. A link. http://www.tampabay.com/news/in-bid-for-40-million-federal-grant-st-pete-looks-to-gondolas-tampa-to/2265256. And the Clearwater version. http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/baybuzz/gondolas-in-clearwater/2262838
  3. TBp, those bathrooms were there from the time the building was put up. The station was on the top part of the building.
  4. Here's another one of Frontier Lift I found. I always like this one better, it was longer and felt like you were heading someplace mysterious.
  5. I think KD wins, hands down, the award for hardest/most difficult to find ride entrance ever. It is so strange.
  6. ^ I have thought that to be a viable option also.
  7. Liking the color. It looks more like a traditional wooden coaster track.
  8. ^^^ Cool find on some of the storms on Lake Erie. I used to love to make a trip up from Columbus to visit the lake during times like that.
  9. Sorry if anyone is offended, and bringing back an old topic, but, - It'll never open.
  10. Cool find. Thanks for posting. I miss Wildcat. ( Well the whole funkyness and fun that was Idora. I don't think there will ever be another coaster like Wildcat. Even Jack Rabbit was an odd fun coaster. Good memories
  11. Great TR. Makes me realize how much I miss those two parks. (The first time in a few years I didn't get to visit them. ) I'm also glad you got to experience the Great Conundrum of the 2 parks that is the beer and wine policies.
  12. Alas, good bye old friend. You were the park I grew up with since the late 1960's. ( both Sea World and Geauga Lake) Thanks for posting the last gasps.
  13. Here is another oh boy moment. All Goodwill stores in the Tampa Bay area announced they have pulled ANYTHING clown related from their stores for halloween. They are are a big promoter of halloween costumes in the area. They have said you will not even find a red nose or clown wig in any store.
  14. ^ Totally agree. Rock o Planes were my "I can't wait til I'm big enough to ride " bucket list as a kid. Still love them.
  15. ^ watch out for the trees.
  16. ^ yea, While I love Dominator, nothing beats it's old location in the swampy lakeside part of GL. Every time I ride it now, I can only see the original location in my mind. It is still just as good of a ride, it's just missing the atmosphere.
  17. ^ I think you are quite right on that one. And it is a good thing. I do wonder how it will affect the Florida location? Might they have to step up their game in Florida?
  18. I like the happy nun. Reminds me of my childhood school days. Ah, happy times, happy times. ( NOT, more like scarred for life)
  19. Get the band, get the band. You will have so much fun and many rerides all in a short time period. White Lightning and Freedom Flyer (once in front once in back, totally dif experiences) That insane paratrooper, Enterprise, and on and on. Well worth the money.
  20. You are a tease, that does not clear up anything at all. Can't wait to see the finished product.
  21. Wow, That looks to be the most perfect night for a haunt, not to forget to mention that I am sooo jealous of your night ride on PR.
  22. I have to agree. A Skywheel that runs a good program is a lot of fun , gives you butterflies in your tummy, and would be a great fit for Knoebels.
  23. Wow, this looks really cool. I can imagine the speed sensation will be intensified due to the interaction with the other coasters that it winds through. And yes it does seem to have a Cheetah Hunt vibe. (yes, I really enjoy Cheetah also.)
