  1. That looks like so much fun. I hope you go back and / or post more photos.
  2. That last shot ! That's the way to end any trip. beautiful.
  3. Love the statue of the Andean Vulture. You can NEVER go wrong with little goats. And yes Red Pandas are so darn cute. Nice.
  4. Just an FYI, Watching NBC Nightly News right now and coming up in a few minutes they will be "taking a ride" on Lightning R at Dollywood. The previews look pretty good.
  5. ^ It would be cool if they kept Boo Blasters for the kids and added another dark ride that was a bit more sinister for the more mature crowd.
  6. Cool looking place. Your Ferris wheel pic looks especially " cheeky"
  7. Fly O Planes is enough of a reason for me, and the flume.
  8. ^ Cool to see you went to the horses doing the horse stuff. I always go to the horse shows at the fairs because as kids we raised horses and did the horse show circuit. I always hit up the horse competitions at the state fairs as they are the best of the local best. We showed ( yes, showed is the proper term) 2 Arabians, a Quarter horse and a Dunn. To any horse people out there, you know how ornery, incorrigable , and totally awesome those little nut Dunns can be. That was always my best memories of the State Fairs, Showing the horses, sleeping in the stalls with my horse, riding the rides during the off times and after the fair closed for the night to the GP. You wouldn't believe how many things are open after the fair closes down for the night and everybody has gone home. Many things are still open all night. Maybe someone sometime will do a TR on what goes on after hours at the fairs. It can be really fun.
  9. Well., there is that one park that calls its' Troika, Shake RATTLE and Roll.......
  10. Thank you guys and gals for posting coasters at sunset. It's that magical time when the coasters start getting more intense and beautiful to look at, but the sad part is you know the day at the park is coming to the end. But ! It is also the most exciting time because you know the night rides are about to begin ! Again, thanks for the glorious sunset shots. Keep 'em coming.
  11. ^^ ^thanks so much for posting Knoebels Carousel. I had so much fun on that ride trying to catch the brass ring and the even harder trying to get it in the lions mouth. Good times, good times.
  12. Always enjoy your posts of those far away places in an exotic land. Just kidding, but hey from Fla, it is like travelling to the other side of the world. Air time is soooo long flying, not to mention expensive from here. I hope to make it back to Vancouver someday when the park is open. I have only been there in the late winter/early spring and of course the park was closed. Visited Capilano and took the tram thingy up the mountains. Awesome !
  13. Lake Winnie does look like a nice park. thanx for the TR. To bad Fly O Planes aren't running yet. One of my faves as a kid from the Geauga Lake days, and even my mom's when she was a kid back in the 1940's. They have been around forever.
  14. You didn't miss much by not stopping at South of the Border. While it used to be a lot of corny fun, it has really gone downhill in the past 15 years since the original owner passed. But it is still cool to see all the signs and the silly sombrero tower. Every now and then I still stop in for a little leg stretch. Sadly most of the rides are gone.
  15. Wow, the Sedona area looks incredible. Very cool TR.
  16. When we were there last year I was actually looking forward to scooping up some GL merchandise, but there was none left at all. However I did score a really cool pic of the Blue Streak train in the station which I framed and is now hanging in a hallway in my house. It's really cool.
  17. The gardens look beautiful. Are they open year round? It looks like a place I would like to visit for hours with a good book to read.
  18. ^ Interesting. Thank you for the response from someone who has done both. As always, Robb , the opinion I trust.
  19. Just a fun fact. Big Dipper was rebuilt in 1980 and at that time the double down was removed. It was flattened out. I rode it as a kid with the double down and it really did give ejector air on both dips. The first time I rode it after the rebuild you really did notice it was gone. After time though most people forgot about it. Here's a couple of pics before and after. Not my pics tho. before after
  20. It is a joke but it is real. Someone there has a wicked sense of humor. Either that or Etsy grandmas off her meds again. At least she's not knitting scarves.
  21. And another question on 5 car vs 7 car trains. How does it affect the ride experience ?
  22. When we were there last year we wanted to do the kiddy coaster. Why? It just looked like a fun blast from my past. We didn't however because of all the kids enjoying it. But we did watch it for quite some time and had such a good laugh because of how they ran it. The ride op had the kids so pumped up for their ride you would have thought it was last ride of the night on the Beast. The op had the kids cheering and clapping before they even left the station. You couldn't help not to get wrapped up in the fun , even just watching.
