  1. I for one, would love to see Knoebels adopt Skydiver if it came down to it. I have only ridden it once, not at Lakemont, and don't remember much, other than I liked it. I rode it at Idora, if that tells you how long ago that was.
  2. ^^^^ Anony, at one time, Cedar Point renamed their Mill Race log ride ( where Raptor is now) Pepsi Plunge because of the sponsorship of the ride with , uh, Pepsi. I don't think Cedar Fair does a whole lot of that sort of thing though.
  3. There's a wonderful oddness of seeing a Six Flags park and The Charles M Schulz Museum with the Peanuts Gang in the same trip report. Great report, enjoyed it.
  4. Ugh, Sand Serpent, the most boring Mouse Coaster I have ever been on. Even my parents whom are in there 80's thought it was boring. Covering it will not make it any more exciting. ( hey, they took it out of BGWilliamsburg just to fill an empty spot.) Please put that thing to rest and at least put a spinning mouse or something in it's place. I mean really, an 80 year old couple found it boring? That tells you something.
  5. Yikes ! Praise Cheese Bus ! That is some bad experiences mixed with good?
  6. Holy lordy jeebus, I know where I am going next week ! Yow , that looks so darn good.
  7. With each new photo that comes out, the anticipation keeps building. I can't wait to ride this beauty.
  8. I've loved Cedar Downs since I first rode it at Euclid Beach when it was The Great American Racing Derby. Ride it every time I'm at the Point. Yeah, I guess that makes me an old fart. (it ran faster at EB too )
  9. There is just something about seeing your pictures that makes me fall in love again with the Point. We loved our stay for 4 days at the breakers, loved early entry, just wow. You are bringing back all the fantastic memories.
  10. While Shenandoah is good, it seems too short. I still like Kennywoods Log Jammer or Busch Gardens Tampas' Stanley Falls a bit better. Another short, but fun one that is surprisingly wet is Gator Falls at the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa. It doesn't seem to get much love as it is in the shadows of BGT. It was quite a surprise the first time I rode it. Love it.
  11. ^ Thanks for posting the waterchute video. Simple but fun looking.
  12. What exactly is that old ride from 1926, in the woods ,with water? Is it some sort of Shoot the Chutes type ride ? It looks interesting. Any more pics of it?
  13. ^ Plus driving underneath RFII is kinda cool unto itself .
  14. I have never been to IB, but it sounds like it was a really cool park, and still does really. However, as I always say with these smaller parks, Go, Visit, spend money there, and most of all, enjoy the place for what it is. Who knows how long they will be around before getting torn down and turned into condos or some other silliness. The list of parks now gone in the last 25 years is staggering.
  15. Somewhere there is a joke about it's not how big it is, it's how it's.. oh never mind.
  16. ^^ what the heck ? Why Oh Why are they taking down Val ? OMG this needses to be breakin news
  17. Yes, bring back the towers. The towers were something everyone could ride as a group or family. The views were great and it was a nice chill out relaxing ride. Probably the nicest break from all the mayhem, an aahhh moment.
  18. We just got back from the park on Sunday and I must say, It was Fantastic! There was hardly anyone there and the ride ops would let you stay in your seat for a re-ride if no one was waiting for your seat. We got multiple re rides on Grizzly, Rebel Yell, 305, And even, yes, Volcano ! We had hem hawed about going to BGW or KD and finally decided on KD because of the food and beer/wine/liquor fest. Smart move! Rebel Yell has a lot of new wood and boy oh boy can you tell. The new wood was smooth as glass but when you hit the old wood, Major ouch! Loved the ejector Air time after the turn around. Like I said, so many re rides without leaving your seat had to make it one of the best park days I have ever had. Now onto the food and of course LIQUOR ! Way better than the regular food options, Fave was the Duck sweet potato popover dish. I love duck and this was soooooo good, I went back for a second dish. Also fantastic was the liquor flight from the Copper Fox Distillery. 4 Super strong pours of a gin mule, rye manhattan , single malt blackberry thingy and an un barreled bourbon drink with fresh mint and ginger slices. OMG! Did the Liquor flight twice it was so good. Once for lunch and once for dinner. No pics of the rides just the yummies! Hey, we've all seen them. Also, Because it was cool for us floridians, I wore my Pulse Orlando shirt. No homophobia at all during the day. In fact, a lot of employees and guests gave us thumbs up and even stopped us to talk about it. Kudos to the Cedar Fair employees for being so nice, in light of someone elses' not so good experience at another CF park. I just love this park ! now a few pics. getting ready to ride ! liquor ,chicken and meatloaf flounder and crab mac n cheese bad pic the omg duck had to do twice
  19. We Stayed at the Breakers and loved it. We had the perfect room IMO. It was a Lakeside View, 2nd floor, queen bed with sleeper sofa room in the main (old) building. It was almost a suite. Very clean and comfy. The room was huge and shaped sort of like a key hole. 2 tv's, one in the bed room and one in the sitting room area. Bonus, it was at on one of the round ends of the building. Thus, the bed was actually in a circular part of the room and had 4 nice picture windows in the room. When making reservations, check out the rooms by shape and type. They have the room layouts on the page where you book what type of room you want. The cost was almost the same as a standard room.
  20. Never got to ride Python as there was a long line for it back in 1993 when I first went to BGT, and Kumba was all the new rage. Since I had ridden Corkscrew at Geauga Lake for so many years I passed on it. Part of me wishes I had just to compare how the 2 ran.
  21. ^ Thank you for the info. I'll just wait until We're at the park to buy tokens. Not sure sure how hungry or , ahem, thirsty we'll be until we get there.
  22. Question here. Going to the park on sunday and I see tokens can be purchased online for the Virginia food and wine fest. They are also available at the park. Is there any price advantage to buy the tokens online, or are they more at the park ? Thanx for any help.
  23. ^ love your description of the round jail. (and lots of other descriptions, made me chuckle quite a bit ) My partner fell asleep on the wheel last year, enough so that he began snoring and I had to wake him when it was time to get out of jail.
  24. ^ Oh that is awful. Good heads up. Also, be careful with booking a flight via Hotwire. My hubs booked us a flight to DC for the march on Washington and a bonus day at Six Flags America this June, ( hey we're in the hood then, why not? ) It was a 24 hour cancellable ticket, and he found much cheaper flights on another site. No problem, cancelled the Hotwire one. But, they don't tell you, there is a $20 fee to do so. Good luck trying to dispute it. I know it is small potatoes, 20 bucks, but still, it kind of irks me.
  25. I can vouch for flying into PIE vs TPA . PIE is St Pete/Clearwater and TPA is Tampa. The 2 airports are only a few miles apart on a parallel flight pattern. Added bonus, flying into PIE has a more interesting view as you are over the Gulf before the approach. Good for saving a few bucks and a lot less busy airport. ( easy in and out)
