  1. Kudos to you Nrthwnd for trying the cricket burg. There's a place I go to near me that has cricket soft tacos. Not the corn tortillas, but the soft flour ones. No other meat either, just crickets. I have not been brave enough to try them yet.
  2. ^ Yes, they have refillable souvenir cups, but, better than that, they have a couple of happy hours in the evening on beer wine and liquor drinks. Reasonable prices, especially for a park, actually, really cheap for a park.
  3. Big Dipper at Camden isn't that exciting, fun though. Unless, unless it has rained or is raining and the track is wet. The coaster becomes a whole different ride. It becomes a bit wild. And actually Little Dipper is quite a cool woodie which also runs the original NAD trains too. Either way, if you are near, it is worth a stop in. They have a cool in the ground flume ride too. And finally, Praise bee to the higher hair and the B52's JT.
  4. Camden is worth a stop if you're in the area. It's odd and even more bizarre if you happened to be at the park like I did when they were having some sort of church picnic day. I have never seen sooo many beehive hairdos and dresses down to the cankles. I must say, the place looks better than when I was there in the early 2000's when the rotting hulk of Thunderbolt Express, nee the relocated Demon from Kings Island still sorta stood as the gateway icon of the park.
  5. ^ Hurler. Anaconda has at least a few good moves.
  6. I see they have Rock-O-Planes. The park can't be that bad then. * edit, I just saw they have a looping Pinfari coaster. ( I wonder if it's being replaced with the new coaster?)
  7. Fun, odd trivia. Oaks was purchased in 1925 by a Swiss immigrant by the name of Edward Bollinger, and passed it on to a son named Bob who owned it until 1985. The park has never had a B&M coaster, nor even a B minus the M coaster. I just found this to be amusing.
  8. Given that part of my heritage is Polish, I love the theming of the little cabbages cars of the giant wheel. (at least that's what they look like to me) The park looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for the TR.
  9. ^^ I gone mostly on Sundays for the past 5 years or so and the crowds aren't bad. Get to the park for opening, or earlier, and go directly to Volcano. Don't be enticed by Dominator just yet. If you hustle to Volcano first thing you can get several rides with little or no wait. ( and your pick of front or back seats) Sundays tend to be slow in the AM as it seems most people in the area go to church or something first, leaving the park pretty quiet until 1 or so.
  10. I can understand why people will use the word "the" in front of some rides. IE., I want to ride the Scrambler. But yeah, to say , The El Toro, is just awkward. It's odd sounding. It doesn't flow off the tongue. I wonder why people do that? Ah the mysteries of life I guess.
  11. Ugh, I made the mistake and really regret looking at a few of the comments on the site. Not going to do that again. Just awful.
  12. Still a ways to go, but this is good news. Haven't heard much about the park lately. Nice find.
  13. 2003 was about the last time I was at Gay Days. Good times, good memories. Thanks for bringing them back.
  14. A few of my fave 5 foods from knoebels, in no order, Pierogies from the good place ! fried pierogies from the rotating canopy area, Ceasaries pizza, And I am surprised no one mentioned the Potato Pancakes from one little obscure stand, And, the fresh spun Cotton Candy piled high on a stick as high as Marge Simpsons hair. I am a sucker for fresh cotton candy at the end of the night, and theirs is great.
  15. ^^ Black Widow is the only frisbee type ride that scares the daylights out of me. I was nervous as heck standing in line to ride it. The sound it makes still sends shivers. Anyway, we finally made it through the line around 9:30 ish, first group of 4 to be seated, and they cut the line off. So there we sit, our bars lowered and no one else getting on. After about 5 minutes they announced there was a problem and the ride would be closed for the night. A bit of a relief for me. So I can truthfully say, I have been on Black Widow. ( just not experienced the ride) ps , loving the report.
  16. ^^ Gear, if you are in Cleaveland and looking for something to do, Waldemeer isn't that far of a drive and totally worth it. We were staying in Avon, made the drive there, had a blast in the park and drove back with no stress. We did that when it was a rainy day up on the north coast and couldn't figure out what to do. Waldemeer has the best rain policy of any park.
  17. Cool looking water park with the added bonus of not being packed to the gills with long lines. Nice report. Even though I have no idea what the other park you have been to is like, I would have trouble with going to a park named Water Wizz. Is that for real? lol.
  18. 25 bucks? oh heck no. I will just marathon my lil fave here at either Fun Spots for a heck of a lot less. What the heck is Busch thinking? Sometimes corporate thinking is what causes their downfall.
  19. ^^Nothing better than having a good time, all day at SDC.
  20. ^ Maybe I read that wrong, but wasn't the fatigue , quote, "on some of the over the shoulder restraints" not the entire ride structure?
  21. ^ Thanks for that. I have been looking online everywhere to see if it is open to no avail. There doesn't seem to be a web or facey site out there for the ride park.
  22. No Mr Kassich ® Governor, State of Ohio, People go to the fair and expect a reasonable amount of safety, not, quote, " People have to use their judgement before boarding a ride " What a deflection, I just can't imagine how he justified that statement to, nor to the families of, and people on the ride. Truly Heartbroken and wish for the best for those affected.
  23. It's good to hear Comet still runs well. Last time I rode the Comet was when it was sitting along side Lake Erie at Crystal Beach. And one of the reasons I made the trip there was because of my mother's tales of riding it when she was a kid back in the late 1940's. Loving this TR of yours.
  24. Canobie, we had a day very similar to yours with the mostly all day rain several years ago. Your photos took me back to that day. Everything was running (except for the flume, bummer). There was only about 20 cars in the parking lot. They also closed early at 8. Need a new category for Amusement Parks. I vote it "Best park ever to go to on a rainy day."
