  1. I thought Shapiro said that they were getting "another roller coaster," but nonetheless, a revamp to Scream would still be cool, considering it's so bland. It's just strange that they would do it again so recently after X's revamp.
  2. Looking at their calender, August 4th is Polish day. I'd go prepared for the park to be decently crowded. Usually on nationality days it is. I'd suggest waiting until a little later on to do Phantom. It usually opens slightly late, and when it does open, they only start out with one train operation. They eventually move to two, but sometimes not for an hour or so. Ghostwood Estate is pretty good, it's new (in 2008) so try and do that earlier before the line builds up. Noah's Ark tends to build a long line as the day goes on also, especially in August. As for other things to do, you can check out the waterfront, which is pretty much down the road from Kennywood. They have many theatres, a Dave & Busters, and many many many stores. You definitely have to get a Primantis sandwich, though.
  3. ^ That's your opinion. I've been on all of those except Afterburn, and I consider Raptor to be better than all of them except Montu, and easily one of the best B&M inverts I've ridden.
  4. My luck I'd come back and the lift chain would be broken or something.
  5. To each his own, but this is against my philosophy. Maybe I'm superstitious, but at every park I go to I ALWAYS do the brand new ride first thing. I don't want to put it off because it's too crowded or whatever, then come back later only to find out it's broken down, and remains down the rest of my trip.
  6. I'd say the "killer" is $280 for someone with no money. Yeah, the parks in Orlando are difficult to do if you're not on a planned vacation...or at least more difficult than hitting up a local Six Flags or Cedar Fair park while you're in the area on business. While parks like IOA, Universal, Sea World, Busch Gardens, etc. can usually be accomplished in one day, it usually takes a couple visits for you to actually get your money's worth, in my opinion, assuming you pay full price. In my opinion, spending only 3/4 of a day at Universal and IOA after spending $100+ for entry isn't enough to justify that purchase.
  7. My point being, for parks in general, it doesn't always have to be a roller coaster or thrill ride. Some people always seem to have the mindset that a roller coaster is the only thing that's going to boost attendance, which isn't true. With that said, I doubt SFKK will add any coaster any time soon. They still have the whole Twisted Twins and Mile High Falls area to deal with, and I wouldn't expect any new major coaster like a GCI until that is sorted out. If anything at all is done in the next year or so, I wouldn't be surprised to see a coaster makeover like Bizarro/X2, as already stated.
  8. ^ I'd like to add that the purchase of a flex ticket also includes free shuttle service to Busch Gardens, and probably Sea World as well.
  9. ^ Keeping a park profitable doesn't always mean it's necessary to constantly add new rides. Proper maintenance, general upkeep, strategic management tactics, etc. are what attract guests, not building a new ride every year. If anything, building too many big rides too quickly kills parks, not helps them. Take Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, better known as Geauga Lake, for example. Rides play a big role, but they aren't the sole factor. Take Kennywood for example, it's been 8 years since a major ride was added, and they're doing just fine. Why do some people think that all there is to parks are major rides and thrill machines? I laugh at the fact that one some other forums, people are already speculating, wondering, and even looking for clues as to what Kings Island's next coaster is going to be. KI just got a $22 million thrill machine, I bet it'll be a good 5-8 years before their next major ride is built.
  10. This might help: http://www.thepointol.com/crowds.html have fun! According to that you are basically screwed. (line wise) Pretty much, yeah. The ideal times to go to Cedar Point are early season (opening to mid-June) and after the summer season, but before Halloweekends starts. Anything in between there's usually at least 1-2 hour lines for every major ride. You might get lucky with low crowds a few days here and there, but not too many.
  11. Nice pics! If all goes to plan, I'm hoping to go to HW for the first time in about two weeks!
  12. Another good one is Ravine Flyer II. One of the few drops that still takes my stomach.
  13. As for Universal and IOA...you shouldn't have trouble in March. I went to IOA and Universal in May and the parks were empty. If there, by chance, is some freakishly large group there or something, just buy an express pass and you can easily skip all lines and easily do everything in half a day. As for the other parks, I have no idea. The last time I was at Disney I was 8, which was over 10 years ago, and I've never been to Sea World.
  14. I believe that's once the voting process begins and the entry period ends.
  15. Speaking of which, I wonder if Darien Lake is ever going to do anything with that stand up coaster. I was there in May and it's still sitting in the same spot across the street sticking out clear as day. You'd think if they were planning on getting rid of it they would have done so already, but at the same time you can't help but wonder why they are just letting it rust out there.
  16. I like X2's red and black/grey scheme.
  17. I entered a picture of Aftershock from Silverwood. I made a typo on my email address, though, and sent you a message with the fixed email.
  18. They are making improvements to their power grid in that area, which could mean that something of decent size (that requires a lot of power) is being built near that area. Perhaps their current grid isn't sufficient enough to power whatever it is they have in store for that area.
  19. Yeah, I have to agree with this. Perhaps the OP is getting confused because it takes a couple launches back and forth for the train to reach it's maximum height...it doesn't go it's highest on the first launch.
  20. 1) Dominator (Geauga Lake/KD) 2) SheiKra (BGA) 3) Medusa (SFGAdv) 4) Scream (SFMM) 5) Hydra (DP)
  21. Some of my favorites: Ravine Flyer II (Waldameer) El Toro (Six Flags Great Adventure) Ghostrider (Knotts Berry Farm) Thuunderbolt (Kennywood) Lightning Racer (Hershey) The Beast (Kings Island) Son of Beast (Kings Island) Tremors (Silverwood) Villain (in it's early days...Geauga Lake)
  22. If all goes to plan, then Waldameer on Friday, July 10, 2009.
  23. Not intense at all. Just overall a fun and awesome ride.
  24. While Hershey is better, it will be more crowded. It's all up to you and what you prefer.
  25. I agree with SheiKra. I could ride that, and that only all day long.
