  1. I hope so, but it's hard to tell these days...especially on forums.
  2. Wasn't KD rumored to get a TTD clone (or coaster similar) a while ago? If that's the case, it wouldn't surprise me at all if this were launched. I have no clue, though. No, not at all. Millennium Force would still be a "Giga" coaster, launched or lift. Same with TTD, it would still be a "Strata" coaster either way. That term simply refers to the height, not necessarily the style of getting to said height.
  3. A "Top Spin" isn't a coaster... http://www.hussrides.eu/52ClassicTopSpin.htm My guess is that because there are so many moving parts, with the seats being able to move freely and such.
  4. Its very common for a park to contact 4 or 5 ride builders and choose the one that gives them the best price... or design (if money is no object) of what they need. Yep. If memory serves me correctly, I believe Tony and Tyler of Cedar Point posted on their blog a while back saying that they picked Maverick out of like two or three other choices. Also, I remember, at one point Kennywood was on the verge of getting a Vekoma SLC a few years back, but canned the project at the last moment and probably decided to wait for something better. That's a common occurrence with parks building new rides...there are usually many propositions and options on the table at one point in time.
  5. Also, there are a lot of parks out there that have height limits, which make a 300 foot coaster out of the question.
  6. My guess is they'll be Maverick-esque signs around the park, nothing that really gives anything away. Example: "Get ready for some serious sidewindin'!" or "We're going in a whole new direction!" Things like that.
  7. Yeah, I know, I'll definitely ride the better coasters more. I'm just saying that I like riding coasters, period, so I'll enjoy (to a certain extent) every coaster I ride.
  8. No. If you're an enthusiast, you understand what a good coaster is and don't praise bad ones. I agree with that "If you're an enthusiast..." statement. I'm not saying anyone isn't an enthusiast, but I know I can't ride coasters and go to parks at will year round. I also know for me, there is only a 2-3 month window where I ride coasters and go to parks. Hell, I'll ride any coaster (and enjoy it) just because it's a coaster, knowing that in a couple months I will be going 9-10 months without riding anything.
  9. Actually, they already did last year. Kings Island was infested with Cicadas...
  10. Mine's Dr. Doom. I really liked the Doom ride at IOA, so I decided to put him as my avatar for a while.
  11. Rides go down all the time, it's pretty common. Did I miss something here? Is this confirmed to be closed for the entire season? A separate thread was made for Millennium Force's cable snapping, or whatever happened to it a couple weeks ago. No one knew how long MF would be down. Some said weeks, some said months, hell, it was open in a matter of days. How is this any different? SOB has been down for a couple days, it's not like it was down for 3 hours today and people are freaking out because there was no one working on it, or something of the sort.
  12. There is talk over at KIC about this also. No one really knows for sure, but a few people are saying that there has been no activity whatsoever at SOB over the past two days. It was running on Tuesday, however.
  13. That sucks. SOB was awesome last year and the year before when I rode it. Hopefully if it does end up re-opening, it's open when I go in late July.
  14. Are you really excited about the potential for a kiddie coaster? No offense, just wandering. They already have two, do they really need another? Unless they add a kiddie coaster along with a major coaster in the same year to boost their coaster count. It could be used for a queue line, some sort of pathway, or maybe transfer track to a big new ride. The small details shouldn't be ruled out. Chaos is on the opposite side of the midway from the stadium and DT. (two spots in the area where a large expansion could go). So if a ride was put in either spot, the Chaos location would not be used for a queue, transfer track, or pathway. Any of that sort of stuff would be on the opposite side of the midway. The spot Chaos sits on would really only be needed if they were going to build something on that side of the midway. Which would probably seem less likely, unless they do a complete overhaul of the kids area there. (which I guess is possible). I just don't think removing Chaos would be for construction purposes. I think they would get rid of it just to scrap it, as the spot it sits on is so tiny. Unless they are going to put a new dip'n'dots stand in. I guess that would fit in Chaos' footprint. I've been to Cedar Point many times, I'm well aware where Chaos is and how much room is there. Cedar Point has gotten creative in the past. They fit a 300 foot tall coaster by only moving a ferris wheel, and fit a 400 foot coaster where nobody thought they could. I'm just saying it's a possibility and shouldn't instantly be ruled out. untitled.bmp Looking at this picture, there's actually a lot more room next to it than one would think.
  15. It could be used for a queue line, some sort of pathway, or maybe transfer track to a big new ride. The small details shouldn't be ruled out.
  16. As already stated, second from the back so you can see everything, as in the back, your view is obstructed.
  17. Down here in Pittsburgh, Starbucks is selling a new coffee. It is called the Hossa, but from what I hear, bring some gloves, because apparently it doesn't come with a cup....
  18. ^^ Regarding the dueling coasters such as Dueling Dragons and Lightning Racer, perhaps the park treats them as one experience, but not necessarily one coaster. To each his/her own, but I think if you're not going to count racing coasters as two, then don't count clones either. If two Batman: The Rides were built right next to each other, they wouldn't be counted, but since they are a certain distance apart (at different parks, in this case), they are counted? Same goes for Superman: The Escape and Tower of Terror. They are exactly the same albeit a small height difference (note that the actual drops are advertised as the same, just the structure heights are different, and the speed is advertised as the same). I just don't think that makes much sense, but as said before, there really are no rules and each person has a different opinion. Note: this is coming from someone who counts Gemini as two different credits.
  19. That's cool. I was just there a months ago, and it's such an awesome park. Good to see they're adding on. SheiKra is incentive enough to return someday, but this is even more!
  20. The Kings are definitely a team to watch out for in the future. They have great young talent in Doughty, Brown, Kopitar, Boyle, Quick, etc. They are rumored to be going hard after Chris Pronger as we speak. If that falls through, it's been rumored that they want Marian Gaborik, and it's also been well-known that they have been pursuing Lecavalier for a while. This team means business and wants that one player that's going to put them over the edge. They might even be a yearly contender if that core of young players can stay together.
  21. For starters, the Wings fans were booing Gary Bettman, NOT the Pens. Knowledgable hockey fans know that he is widely regarded as the worst commissioner in pro sports, and the direct reason the sport took a nosedive over the last decade. Booing of Bettman happens in any city with a high hockey IQ. Oh, and I guess you didn't stick around long enough to notice the Wings fans loudly applauding Mario Lemieux when he hoisted the Cup, huh? I highly doubt it considering they were cheering when Crosby went off the ice injured. I know how bad Bettman is, and I bet some of the booing was, in fact, for him, but not all of it. Those were Penguins fans cheering Mario, not Detroit fans. By the time he hoisted it, most of the Wings fans left and Penguins fans had moved down. They even said it on the local news, and panned the crowd a few times, where you could clearly see that.
  22. Yeah, I wasn't taking anything away from Detroit's Cup history and tradition, it just seemed as if you were acting like it's been decades. As for the top draft picks, blame them on the pre-lockout CBA. The Penguins were bankrupt and couldn't afford to pay their top players, forcing to send most young, highly-touted prospects (including Fleury at one point in time) down to the AHL so they didn't have to pay them. The Penguins were then composed of a bunch of scrubs. This went on for a few years. You act like it's a bad thing to have superstars on your team. I'm damn proud of it and what they have accomplished the past two seasons. A mere few years ago no one was sure if the Penguins were even going to stay in Pittsburgh, now they're raising Lord Stanley with a brand new arena halfway built?! The Pittsburgh Penguins organization went from rock bottom, the lowest of low, to as high as you can possibly go in a matter of 3 or 4 years. This is just me, but I think that's accomplishing a hell of a lot more than winning 4 cups in 12 years.
  23. Since 1992, not that long compared to some teams (or cities in Cleveland's case) that have droughts of 40+ years. Not to mention the Chicago Cubs, who haven't won a World Series in over 100 years. 17 years is barely long at all. The Pens have little cap issues to worry about. Their main players such as Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, Staal, Orpik, Kunitz, Talbot, and Kennedy are all locked up for many years to come. The only players that really need re-signing are Scuderi, Fedotenko, and Adams. Their salaries aren't big by any means and will use little cap space. All the rest of the players the Penguins might possibly lose (like Hal Gill, Petr Sykora, Miroslav Satan, etc.) are role players that can easily be replaced with up and coming AHL players. Nice try. My mom has had Penguins season tickets since the early 1990s, and I've easily been to 50-100 Penguins games in my lifetime. Bandwagoner? I don't think so. Once again, nice try. Two Super Bowls in four years with Lord Stanley added to that second Lombardi warrants enough for a "City of Champions" label. Besides, Pittsburgh was dubbed with the same title in the 1970s when only the Steelers and Pirates won, so it's the same circumstance now, only a different second team. But whatever, continue the hate, people from Michigan. The Red Wings fans already showed how much class Detroit has by constantly booing the Penguins during the trophy presentations. I'd honestly be embarassed to be from or currently reside in Detroit after that. While last year, all the Pittsburgh fans did the whole time was applaud and give the Red Wings all their respect. In the end, whether you, or anyone else thinks Pittsburgh is a "City of Champions" or not, The Penguins will still have Lord Stanley, and nothing will change that. Keep whining and acting bitter.
  24. The first time EVER the same city wins the Lombardi and Stanley Cup in the same season. Pittsburgh is the City of Champions again!!! Woo!!! GO PENS!!!
