  1. Yeah me too. I am very excited for this! I, too have been to many great parks that include SFMM, Cedar Point, SFGAdv, Universal/IOA, Hershey, etc. But this is still HUGE and GREAT news!
  2. Also, you and kingsdominionlvr are basing this off Premier coasters that were built over 10 years ago. That's like saying the next B&M is going to suck because Iron Wolf sucks. Don't you think the technology, track design, train design, restraint design, etc. has changed a bit? I certainly do, especially considering NEWER, SMALLER, Premiers like BLSC, Mummy, etc. seem to be pretty reliable, smooth, and decent rides.
  3. ^ Yeah, they say as early as 2011 it could return.
  4. To each his own, but as I've already said, Premier is one of my favorite designers. All Premier coasters I've been on (FoF, Mummy, BLSC, Speed, etc.) have all ranked very high with me. Lastly, if you don't have anything good to say, why say anything at all? What did you want from them, a $30 million B&M? Ah well, can't win 'em all.
  5. ^^^ The same thing was said about Fahrenheit, but it seems to be doing just fine. I'm surprised this is a Premier. Not that that's a bad thing or anything, but I was honestly expecting Gerstlauer, Maurer Sohne, Mack, and even Intamin before Premier. Premier makes awesome coasters and is one of my favorite designers...can't wait!
  6. Just posted at KPConnection: Kennywood's page: http://www.palaceentertainment.com/kennywood/NEWfor2010.html
  7. So much hype was built up for July 19, I think people just said screw it after Kennywood didn't announce anything related to the 2010 ride.
  8. Front is better than the back by miles, in my opinion.
  9. It's supposed to be at the front where the turnpike and those pavilions are, right? I guess we'll find out soon.
  10. I would assume that online somewhere would be the quickest (like Screamscape, here, KPConnection, etc.). The local news might not have anything or say anything until 5:00 pm.
  11. My guess is a Maurer Sohne similar to Formule-X or G-Force. What time exactly are they announcing it?
  12. It looks like a piece for the brake run or MCBR. Most B&M Hypers use magnetic braking...it's nothing new. Picture of Diamondback's track: Silver Star's track: Goliath's (SFOG) track: Goliath's (La Ronde) track: Not sure about Apollo or Raging Bull, but I know Nitro uses magnetic braking, and that was built in 2001.
  13. My guess is a Maurer Sohne similar to Formule-X or G-Force. What time exactly are they announcing it?
  14. I'd bet a complete retrack of SOB would cost over $5 million, not to mention the cost of the trains. At that rate, it's probably just be more effective to demolish it and build a new coaster.
  15. ^ Yeah exactly. Hydra is only 95 feet tall with a 105 drop, and a little over 3000 feet long, yet it costs a hefty $13 million.
  16. Please don't say that. I am actually looking forward to riding Diamondback for the first time next June. I actually do like the helix and final two bunny hops on Nitro, it's the first two thirds of the ride I can do without. Still, Nitro is better overall than 90 percent of the steel coasters I've been on. ...So I can't dislike it that much. Diamondback is still a damn good coaster, but Nitro is better.
  17. Not to mention all of MaXair's past problems. I'd assume they'd stay away from Huss after that, especially considering Topple Towers are no better, reliability-wise. That guess sounds like one of those know-it-alls who really know little to nothing. We've all encountered them before.
  18. ^ Then why is there a link to www.whytelightning.com on Cedar Point's webpage?
  19. Yeah, but you have to put into perspective that most of the general public that go to these parks probably ONLY go to that park and have never even heard of the other park.
  20. ^^ That doesn't necessarily mean anything. A ride or small coaster can be built in an offseason. Kennywood is supposedly getting a coaster next year, but NO clearing whatsoever (that I am aware of) has been done yet in the rumored spot (or anywhere else in the park, for that matter), and there's even a ride that is rumored to be removed. Also, no one said that it's going to open on opening day, perhaps it's not going to open until June...who knows.
  21. Nice find. http://www.proslide.com/index.php
  22. Maurer Söhne maybe? Hmm... I'd like to say Bolliger and Mabillard, which is also not easy to spell off hand (for non-enthusiasts), but even the smallest B&Ms cost over $10 million. Hell, Hydra at Dorney is only 95 feet tall and a little over 3000 feet long, but the friggen thing was $13 million.
  23. Maybe I missed something, but I jut got back from Kennywood and didn't see any flags whatsoever by the Turnpike. I looked and looked for a good 15 minutes. The only thing I saw that could indicate future expansion in that area was caution tape tied around maybe 3-5 various trees in that area. I assume that means to either cut them down or save them. The one thing I did notice, however is if Kennywood gets rid of those picnic pavilions in that area, there is TONS of space to work with for a new coaster. It's a lot bigger than I had thought. What else would be neat would be a coaster that went over the road like Ravine Flyer II or Goliath (SFOG)...since that spot is so close to the front and all. I guess we'll find out Wednesday.
