  1. ^^^ I was just saying what I think. While both parks are great parks, and there's no doubt BGE is the better quality park, I'd still prefer KD for the quantity of coasters. Like I said, it all depends on preference, and whether the person prefers amusement parks or theme parks.
  2. It's a lot easier said than done. There are limits, parks don't have unlimited resources and money. Tatsu: Keep in mind that Tatsu was $21 million as it is. Any longer and we're talking about a coaster that only Disney or Universal could afford. Probably a $30+ million coaster. Goliath: A lot of rides are slowed down on purpose for maintenance reasons. The faster a ride goes, the more likely things such as welds, bolts, etc. are going to come loose, wheels wear down faster, track needs to be inspected more, etc. And thus, the park has to spend more money to upkeep these rides. Just simply slowing a ride down can solve a ton of future problems waiting to happen. this park can build a new coaster every year, though, surely for instance, not building scream, would give them $40 million (?) to work on with a really really really really good coaster? I'd rather see them create themselves as being able to have made Tatsu the most incredible ride ever, going through tunnels along the mountain, doing amazing things, than having built it the way it is, very wonderful (much better than superman ultimate flight) and incredibly short. the same with Goliath, 2-3-4 airtime hills, the super helix still there, would make this the best hyper coaster ever, if they make the first drop have airtime. if you can't afford to keep your rides amazing, why build them? its a suicidal park plan. Goliath was so much better when it had air on the first drop! I'm sure the vast majority of the GP thinks Goliath and Tatsu are world-class coasters, and that's all that matters considering they are the ones that spend most of the money, not coaster enthusiasts. Why build a $40 million coaster that caters to a select handful of enthusiasts, when you can build a $10-$20 million coaster that the GP will think is just as good and eat right up? Also, keep in mind that they don't notice the things we do about coasters and rides, such as Goliath slowing down over the years, Tatsu being a tad bit short, etc. For most people, their local park is the only park they go to (not counting Disney and Universal).
  3. Congo Falls at Kings Island. You get TONS of airtime on that double-dip. I wish I could have ridden Pilgrim's Plunge, but it was closed the day I went to HW.
  4. I finally caved and bought Madden 10 a few days ago. I had a few Best Buy Reward Zone coupons built up, though, so I got it for about $15 off. If anyone wants to play online, my Xbox Live Gamertag is in my sig.
  5. It all depends on your preferences. If you're a thrill seeker, do Kings Dominion. If you like to kick back and enjoy the atmosphere and scenery, then go to Busch Gardens. Not saying Busch Gardens doesn't have any thrills to offer, just that they are removing a coaster, whereas Kings Dominion is adding one. 5 coasters versus 14.
  6. Being in the same division (Penguins fan here), I sure hope so too.
  7. I've only been on Blue Streak (CP) and Racer (KI), and I honestly don't really care for either. If I had to choose, I'd choose Racer, but it went way down in my book since returning the one side back to forward. I really liked backwards.
  8. ^ Forgot to mention one more player. They also lost Paul Mara, one of their best defenseman.
  9. To each his own, but I found Nitro to not only be better, but to also have tons more airtime than DB.

  11. I'm glad you said this. I thought of this also, but didn't feel like posting it because I didn't want to get into a big debate about it with someone. I feel the same way, I believe that they are required for such quick transitions. Like you said, if there was just a lap bar only, it might be possible that riders would suffer injuries from whipping around and having nothing to stop/cushion them.
  12. Those have been there for a while. Someone posted pictures of them a few months ago. I forget exactly whet they are, but it's nothing to "speculate" about.
  13. East 2. As good as their team is, they aren't going anywhere if their goaltending doesn't hold up. They have a lot riding on Emery, and he could just as easily fail. If that happens they literally have practically NOTHING left to spend on a replacement goalie and will just have to hope a youngster for the Phantoms is ready. A team can be great, but without decent goaltending, they won't last long. 7. Are you kidding? The Rangers lost their top 3 scorers from last year. Gomez, Antropov, and Zherdev are all gone. Who did they sign as a replacement? The forever injury-plagued Marian Gaborik. If anything the Rangers took a step back. I see them MAYBE (and that's a HUGE maybe) squeeking in at the 8th spot come playoff time...that's if they're lucky, and things go their way this upcoming year. West 1. Also minus Hossa, Kopecky, Samuelsson, and Hudler.... Yeah but they had Clemmensen last year. He's gone. Who's going to step in if Brodeur gets hurt? Yann Danis? Kevin Weekes? Please. Not to mention Gionta is gone as well. Are you kidding? I'd be ecstatic if I were a Kings fan. All that young talent. Kopitar, Stoll, Brown, Frolov, Doughty, Johnson, Quick, Bernier, etc....the Kings are LOADED with young talent. Not to mention signing Scuderi and trading for Smyth.
  14. I don't think it's that easy...you're forgetting that not all of us have the means to visit every single park on the planet & the nearest B&M hyper is some 3.5 hours away, which is kinda hard to get to when you don't drive. Honestly, if I were you I'd be ecstatic that I had two AWESOME, world-class parks close by (KD and BGE). Not a lot of people live so close to parks like that, and have to make do with the small parks they do live by.
  15. Ka is an awesome coaster! Good to hear it's back!
  16. This coaster is $25 million as it is. If the elements were any taller, we're talking about a coaster that only Disney or Universal could afford...probably upwards of $35+ million.
  17. Actually CF is clever by using those colors. Red is a color that stimulates hunger, therefore making you want to eat. Yellow is a color that stimulates energy and happiness making you have a better day at the park and wanting to come back. And it makes the ride stick out and emphasizes how big it is. Honestly, when I see Cedar Point's skyline, the first thing I immediately notice is TTD. When I saw Kings Island's skyline, I immediately noticed Diamondback and how it towered over every other coaster. It seems to catch my eye more so than any other color combination.
  18. Honestly, I think Kings Island should have gotten a Giga also. It's a big enough park with more than enough land. Some even call it "Cedar Point South." Diamondback is awesome and all, but it just seemed like if anyone, they'd be the ones to build something BIG and unique, not a cookie-cutter, run-of-the-mill B&M Hyper. Oh well, I guess that's why I don't decide what to build where. Great additions regardless.
  19. My guess is they'll put up the support towers first, then add track to each side, meeting in the middle.
  20. I don't believe Coaster Dynamix makes an Intamin version, so that's all they had to work with. They did a damn good job on that model, if you ask me.
  21. MF doesn't have "foot guards." The restraints are the same as when it opened in 2000, as far as I know.
  22. I looked real quick and thought those signs were TTD's. They look almost the same.
  23. ^ I like them, I don't mind Intamin OTSRs one bit. I also like how it allows that airtime hill to go right under the lift like nothing. That looks like a pretty massive hill, and it probably couldn't have been accomplished if there were more supports on the lift.
  24. No! The lift hill could possibly fall, this is a serious matter! We all know that teenagers posting on some coaster forum have more knowledge about it than Intamin engineers. Robb, you just might have to make it so whenever the word "restraint" is typed, some random funny line comes up...just like a certain word that begins with the letter "L." Hmm...
  25. Has anyone ridden it at night yet, or has it not been open that long in a day yet?
