  1. I'd say coasters at either Kennywood or Cedar Point, since those are the two parks I go to the most. I don't know for sure, though because I don't keep track.
  2. I was just at Universal Orlando a month ago and that Singapore Mummy track looks no different in any way than the current Mummy track in Orlando. There are pretty significant differences in those tracks. You can definitely see the Intamin in this new KD track.
  3. An Xbox 360 Component cable.
  4. When I was younger (probably like 7 or 8), I was always afraid that they'd get stuck upside down. Now I ride anything and everything (except extreme spinning flat rides) without any fear whatsoever.
  5. Yeah, I agree. It definitely gets one thinking. Perhaps Cedar Point jumped the gun a little and Mean Streak was built slightly ahead of its time? Maybe we wouldn't even be having this conversation if Cedar Point decided to put off the construction of a massive wooden coaster until, say 1998-2003.
  6. That's pretty cool, I didn't know Intamin was developing new track. Completely dis-regard everything I just said then. What I'm curious about then, is what sounds this track will produce. Assuming it's not filled with sand. Some Premiers are somewhat loud, and since this track is similar, could Intamin now have their own distinct "roar?"
  7. Yeah, assuming that's what it is, of course. Either way, I'm sure it's still going to be awesome.
  8. I don't know what qualifies as "heavily themed," but they already have a pretty extensively themed water ride in Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls and the Jurassic Park River Adventure. What more could you want. Awesome drawings (as usual) nonetheless!
  9. Just in time too, because I'm planning on going to VA next year also!
  10. Mean Streak is the 7th fastest wooden coaster and 7th tallest wooden coaster in the world. I thought that was already implied because I was on the topic of "tallest and fastest."
  11. A Vekoma Motorbike launched coaster themed to Ghost Rider. An Iron Man themed coaster, like you said, but since Sea World Orlando just got a flyer, perhaps a launched Intamin, but a more modern one that uses magnets, not hydraulics, similar to Maverick or iSpeed, or an Intamin Mega-Lite, but themed of course. Perhaps a Wolverine or X-Men themed coaster/ride. With Harry Potter and HRRR, though, who knows how long it will be before IOA gets another coaster. I'm also surprised no park has used Transformers yet. Yes, that's Paramount, but still. It has the potential to bring in a lot of money.
  12. ^ Mean Streak is a big coaster. It opened as the world's tallest and fastest wooden coaster in 1991, and is still in the top ten today. I think it's because it was simply going too fast for the structure to handle, and a lot of wood supporting the coaster was breaking under that massive stress over time from the trains traveling too fast, hence why the trims were added to slow it down, reducing the amount of stress.
  13. Mean Streak was not "rehabbed" this offseason, at least not to the extent that some people think it was. All that was done to it was wood replacement, such as on the hand-rails, and wherever else needed, which is a regular off-season maintenance procedure on all coasters at Cedar Point with wooden structures (Blue Streak, Gemini, CCMR, etc.) Wood was also added down the center of the track on the majority of the course. My guess is that it acts as even more bracing and support to the wooden structure, which, if that's it's purpose, further strengthens the idea/point that Mean Streak is slowly, but surely, tearing itself apart, and Cedar Point is doing all they can to both delay this process and lower maintenance costs as much as possible. If Cedar Point ever does decide to fully rehab Mean Streak, one can't help but wonder if in 10-15 years after it's rehab, will it just go back to the way it was? Wouldn't Cedar Point have to completely restructure the supports in most areas, because isn't that one of the main problems, it's not supported correctly, so it's shaking itself apart? If all that's done is a re-track, that wood would eventually get old and weaker, and wouldn't we eventually be back to square one? I don't know, but if that is the issue, that it's not properly supported for the forces the trains produce, causing it to slowly rip apart over time, then perhaps it's better to start from scratch by demolishing it and building a whole new, more modern wooden coaster. I don't know if simply re-tracking, adjusting the banking and turns, and getting new trains would resolve all problems. In my opinion, the current PTC trains are still very good trains still seemingly in good condition and well maintained. Replacing them with MF trains might not solve much, if anything. Hersheypark put MFs on Wildcat, the original GCI coaster, and in my opinion it's still rough as hell.
  14. Hasn't a new coaster already been confirmed for next year? I doubt they'd do both in one year, assuming we're talking about an X2/Bizarro-caliber makeover for Scream, and not just simply a paint job and some landscaping.
  15. I got 259 on about my third try.
  16. That's awesome! It's too bad there's no Six Flags near me or I'd be on this is a heartbeat.
  17. Just go to Idlewild and ride it...
  18. I've been on 4/10. Goliath Millennium Force Top Thrill Dragster Kingda Ka I've also been on Superman: The Escape.
  19. Aside from all the Pittsburgh ones, here are some of my favorites:
  20. They sell a two day ride and slide ticket for $73.99. That's not bad at all, in my opinion.
  21. I forgot about that! The "extreme" lazy river is a blast!
  22. Cedar Point gets some sort of upgrade every year, whether it's a ride, new kiddie area, or renovation of one of their resort hotels. Kings Dominion isn't a large resort like Cedar Point, with many other things than "rides" to upgrade/add, so when they do receive an upgrade, as history has shown, it's usually in the form of a ride. I believe a few years back, Cedar Point completely renovated and re-did Sandcastle Suites, which actually was a decently sized project, it just went mainly un-noticed and received little to no hype because it wasn't a ride. Same thing with their new offices this year.
  23. It's a fun waterpark, but nothing to write home about. I'd say worth spending half a day at, nothing more. I buy that same package every year and my SC coupons always go to waste.
  24. I was at the park yesterday and there were multiple guys on the lift hill, dangling and working diligently all day long. Good to see the work payed off. Also yesterday, some ride-ops at various rides were making light of the situation...especially at Magnum. They were saying things like Magnum is so much better than MF and how "today (yesterday) it's faster than Millennium Force!"
  25. You know, I was always a "thrill first, theming second" person, but after going to Universal recently and riding coasters such as Revenge of the Mummy, Hulk, and Dueling Dragons, I now realize that theming greatly enhances the experience. While I still prefer the thrill aspect over theming (although not as much as I used to), I think that coasters with both aspects, such as Hulk, Dueling Dragons, Terminator Salvation: The Ride, and the new Bizarro coasters, are (seem to be, for those I haven't ridden) my ideal and preferred type of ride.
