  1. I'm curious to see how loud Diamondback's B&M roar is. It seems fairly loud from videos.
  2. Wasn't Millennium Force the first to use the elevator cable lift system?
  3. But doesn't it seem a little early to be tearing the place apart for a ride "set" to open a year from now? I mean, the park does open soon, why tear apart your nice island right now? Not at all. As Wes said, they started in 2005 with Maverick by removing WWL. The entire 2006 season T&T teased us with footers, track, etc., and I think an announcement came in September of 2006, if I remember correctly. The harsh Sandusky winters are my guess as to why they always start so early. Not saying it is, but if it is for a coaster, we should see footers popping up soon.
  4. Yeah, there are many possibilities for that area. Only time will tell. I have a question that can hopefully be answered. What happened to the Cedar Point Funcam? Not the ones on their official site, but the one you could move around and such from the Sandusky Register. It's been down for a while now.
  5. My Final Four: UNC Pitt UL Memphis Go Pitt!!!
  6. Yeah, it's amazing what a few trees can do to your perception of speed.
  7. Thanks for that info. I guess I'll just wait until June or something then because I have yet to ride Fahrenheit anyway.
  8. Who knows for me, lol. My tradition is to go to Cedar Point the first week it opens, but I won the Universal ticket and am debating on going to Hershey Park's springtime in the park, so any one of those three.
  9. Are the Racers and Wildcat even open then? They aren't on the ride list. I was thinking of taking a trip, but driving 4 hours for the day might not be worth it if only 3 decent coasters are going to be open.
  10. I have never been on Voyage, but I assume the airtime is similar to El Toro's. If so, in that case, the airtime will probably be your typical B&M Hyper airtime, not El Toro or Maverick crazy ejector air, more like Nitro floater air with just a hint of ejector...which isn't a bad thing at all, Nitro is one of my favorite coasters.
  11. Yeah, as with mine. Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood sits right against the road, and it is definitely very intimidating, especially as you drive up. I really love that aspect of it. Yeah, things would definitely have to be removed or moved around for a Dive Machine to be built. People have analyzed this over at The Point Online until they turned blue in the face, with satellite pictures and whatnot. I think that if a coaster as big as a Dive Machine were built in that spot, the Aquatic Stadium, Disaster Transport and Demon Drop would have to be removed (DT and DD are great possibilities since DD has been for sale for years, and DT is, well DT), and the games area and employee parking lot would have to be moved to different locations. That has also been proposed over at TPOL. Build a GCI (that possibly goes out onto the beach) and turn the Wicked Twister/MaXair/Space Needle area into a boardwalk area, I think that would be pretty cool, and the idea could work well if done correctly.
  12. Yes they are, especially when driving over the causeway, but MF is way at the back near Frontiertown and TTD is sort of in the back half of the park at the end of the main midway. Don't get me wrong, you can see them from EVERYWHERE in the park, but they aren't right in your face, if you will, like Raptor is, as you walk in the front entrance. I'm just saying, imagine a coaster like a 230 foot Dive machine towering over the front entrance, diving down right into your lap as you walk in...it's hard to explain to someone who's never been to CP before.
  13. I was mainly referring to Scruffy's post, and everyone who's ever said, in the Rumor Thread and whatnot, "OMG Mean Streak is being refurbed this off season and is returning to it's old form..I can't wait to ride it to see how much it has improved!" From the sound of it, Mean Streak's isn't even close to being as extensive. Mean Streak seems like routine maintenance that is probably done every off season. I'd like to see Mean Streak completely overhauled and returned to it's old form also. Perhaps Cedar Fair can do to Mean Streak what Six Flags did with X, S:ROS, Medusa, and now Texas Giant? That would be pretty cool.
  14. Why do people keep saying Mean Streak is getting refurbished this year? Just because there has been some new wood added in places, doesn't mean it is being overhauled like people are making it out to be. They are simply replacing some bad wood in certain areas, like they do every off season, the same thing was done on Gemini as well. Cedar Point orders new wood every off season and replaces old wood where needed on Mean Streak, Gemini, CCMR, and Blue Streak. Going by the definition of the word "refurbishment," Mean Streak is technically getting "refurbished," but nowhere near as much or big as people are making it out to be. Now Texas Giant's refurbishment sounds like a huge project, one that's very noteworthy. It's great to see a Dinn given some love and made a better ride.
  15. Doesn't matter what Cedar Point builds, the majority of the time it's the tallest and fastest of it's kind at that time. Skyhawk, MaXair, Wicked Twister, Mean Streak, Raptor, only to name a few. I could see CP building a tall and fast coaster in the form of a dive machine. Perhaps 230-240 feet or so. In my opinion, they need something else big at the front of the park to intimidate people as they enter in Demon Drop and Disaster Transport's spots. Raptor used to be that coaster, but over time it's lost it's intimidation factor.
  16. It's technically not a record holder today since it no longer exists, but has the defunct Moonsault Scramble at Fuji-Q been mentioned?
  17. I thought that too. I was thinking to myself that it actually looks pretty good. Maybe it's the sun/camera? Or maybe it was, indeed repainted.
  18. That probably explains why every other Intamin Impulse coaster has a straight back spike.
  19. Yeah, I see it now, I should have looked down before posting that. It's been like 3 days since I've had a fast (went home from college for the weekend) computer, so I'm just now catching up on all the TPR, TPOL, etc. threads, lol. Sorry about that.
  20. Something else about Cedar Point. According to someone on The Point Online, there is a huge crane at Wicked Twister and the left spike is missing. Anyone know any more?
  21. Wasn't there an article in the LA Times recently with someone high up in SFMM management guaranteeing that they WILL reclaim the title f most coasters? If so, then it's far from being over.
  22. Possibly, but Cedar Point is pretty stubborn when it comes to having the most coasters. Losing the title to build a water ride just doesn't seem like the CP way. Next summer SFMM will have 17 coasters to be tied with CP once again, I wouldn't be surprised if CP doesn't remove any coasters any time soon for that very reason.
  23. Yeah I agree. If CP gets rid of a coaster, it will be for another coaster, not a flume.
  24. "Testing" to coaster enthusiasts means making full circuit test runs.
  25. I had that happen to me. I think it was like 1:30-2:00am when I rode. There was an army of street cleaners and trucks scouring the midways when I left. They still do that with Dragster now (at least last year). The TTD crew is awesome.
