The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread

I would like to see a Pilgrim's Plunge/Perilous Plunge type flume at CP also, but what would that mean for Snake River Falls? Shouldn't that be removed first? It's not really that old, it was built in 1993 and is still pretty tall and fast. I think we'll see a flume-type ride at Cedar Point, similar to White Water Landing, before we see SRF removed and a Pilgrim's Plunge built. -

Cedar Point removing a coaster has been an ongoing debate on a few forums since Maverick was built. I think there is a great chance one will be removed, but which one has been the question. I'm not going to get too much into detail, because I have discussed this well in-depth in the past already, but I think the two most likely coasters to be removed are Cedar Creek Mine Ride or Disaster transport...each for various reasons. Wildcat is a debatable coaster, it's family friendly, but it did crash last year, and perhaps CP wants a modern wild mouse type coaster soon? I don't think Corkscrew will be removed because it's too much of a Cedar Point icon and landmark to take out. Cedar Point getting a new water ride is a great possibility. I also wouldn't be surprised if they got a Dive Machine in the future. A Dive Machine just has Cedar Point written all over it. It's tall, fast, and it offers a huge thrill. Besides, a Dive Machine would also take care of the floorless aspect for those wanting a floorless B&M. I just don't see Cedar Point going small again for a good amount of years. A 90 foot GCI? I mean come on, Maverick was a GREAT investment, but it's Cedar Point we're talking about here. It's been too long since a monstrous thrill machine has been built there. Lastly, it might deter people from going down to BGE. Why travel that far when one is at Cedar Point? -

It's nice to hear that roar on a new B&M. -
Could this be Geauga Lake all over again for one/both? I highly doubt it because of Prowler, and Valleyfair just got Renegade 2 years ago, but you never know. If any Cedar Fair park, Great America would be the one to be the next Geauga Lake. The new 49ers stadium isn't helping their situation either.

Just came back to my dorm today after a week off (spring break). It's nice because I get out super early this year, the first week of May is my finals week, but that means no more days off between now and then...8 straight weeks of school. It's going to start dragging a bit after about the 5th week or so, haha. Man, summer can't come soon enough, it's been way too long since I've been on a coaster. I can't wait for it to be May so I can read this post, and think to myself, "I remember writing that, man that time went fast!"

I think one reason flyers aren't as prevalent as they used to be is because the novelty has wore off, and just isn't there anymore like it used to be when new ones are built. -

^ Eh, that's just my opinion. They are pretty fun and unique coasters, don't get me wrong, but in my opinion, they are overrated and over hyped. -

Picture of Millennium Force pull through. Proving that they also do this on large coasters, and not just small ones like Maverick...if there were any doubters. -

I don't believe Mean Streak is getting "rehabbed." I think they are just replacing wood in various places, like they did on Gemini. -

Not necessarily. Look at Corkscrew at Cedar Point, both inversions go directly over the midway...no nets used there. I did not take these photos. -

Is the back more intense than, say sitting in the back of Nitro, or another B&M Hyper with old trains? It may just be an optical illusion, but the new trains seem longer. -

Yes exactly, it's to check clearance, as said. On Millennium Force, someone hit their hand on a support on the first overbank, this is probably why pull-throughs are stressed so much now. Also, here is a video of Maverick testing through the heartline roll. -

Xavier lost to Duquesne also. Maybe they are a bit overrated. -

I hear you mrhambone, but if you intelligently plan, you can easily save a boatload of money (like you did wit the Disney tickets). Yes my family and I are now going to Universal because of this free ticket, but I'm still trying to spend the least amount possible. I'm driving down to save the price of a flight, and renting a car. It's only about 15 hours from where I live (just outside of Pittsburgh), which is still quite a drive, but isn't TOO bad and very do-able. I've also found some nice hotels only a few blocks from Universal that run at about only $70 a night...compared to $175+ a night for on-site resorts like the Hard Rock Hotel. Those thoughts of all the extra money spent crossed my mind, but life's too short, man. When these opportunities come up, I take them. Ever since my dad had bypass surgery in the summer of 2007, I try to do as much with him, my mom, and the rest of my family as I possibly can, plus BGA is where my parents went on their honeymoon in 1986, so they're pretty excited to go back.
