A kicker doesn't focus on the posts when he kicks. He stares at the hold, and point of contact. It's not like shooting a free throw. The towels have NOTHING to do with a kicker missing a field goal. Good try. I just checked my sources, and we are talking about football, not basketball and free throws...I never said they were like free throws. As said, he can see them out of the corner of his eye, especially bright yellow. Heinz Field, in general is a tough place to kick, even for Steelers kickers sometimes. I think I've been to enough games (have had Steelers season tickets since Heinz Field opened, therefore have been to every single home game...preseason, regular season, and playoffs...since 2001, I have been to Cincinnati several times, and I was at Super Bowl XL) to know what does and doesn't affect kickers, and other players in general, and how the game of football is played, thank you very much.
-
When a kicker sees TENS OF THOUSANDS of those yellow towels waving behind the goalposts, you bet your ass it's going to have an effect on his kick. Playoff game 2004, the Jets kicker, Doug Brien (10th most accurate kicker of all time, and 81% kicking percentage...at the time) misses TWO game-winning field goals at the closed end of Heinz Field, then the Steelers go on to win it on a kick of their own. I'll let you be the judge. Not only that, but it's a symbol of Cope and all he has contributed to the Steelers organization, the city of Pittsburgh, and charity for that matter. In 1996, Cope gave the rights to The Terrible Towel to the Allegheny Valley School in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. The agency provides care for more than 900 people with mental retardation and physical disabilities, including Cope's autistic son. Proceeds from the Terrible Towel have helped raise more than $2.5 million for the school. So stomping on the towel is like pushing down Cope and kicking him while he's down, in my opinion. Which is why it's such a big deal when someone does it.
-
TJ Houshmanzadeh, Derrick Mason, and LenDale White also thought it was a "freakin' towel." The Bengals lost their first playoff game in 2005 after Housh wiped his feet with it and have never been the same since, the Ravens lost 3 times to the Steelers this season after Mason's stomping on the towel, and the Titans didn't even get a chance to face the Steelers again after their great season, they got eliminated in the Divisional Round after LenDale White also stupidly stomped on the towel. Once again, it's not just a towel, it's the legacy of Myron Cope. Regardless, it's something that's going to provoke the Steelers and give them more incentive to win. Why did Mayor Gordon apologize so quickly if it's "just a freakin' towel?" Wouldn't it not matter then? I like this quote from the article, "As dumb as this stuff might seem to you or me, it really does make a difference to some players. Being "disrespected" makes players angry. Anger, even if it stems from something trivial and childish, can motivate a guy in a way that even winning can't. Anger works."
-
^ You have much to learn. It's hardly a "freakin' towel." Bad, bad mistake by the mayor. Damn Super Bowl rookies.

So according to your football "knowledge", the 2007 Patriots offense was an absolute and total fluke. The whole offensive in 07 was "we are going to pass on you and there is nothing you can do to stop us... and it worked... it worked as the highest scoring offense in the history of the NFL". No, they had a decent defense also. Yes you need offense, but with an offense like the 2008 Patriots or 2007 Colts, your defense can still be top 10 or 15 and get the job done. My point was that the Cardinals defense has been mediocre at best. They are winning because they are getting turnovers (they are +9) having 8 interceptions, 5 coming in one game, and all of a sudden have a rushing game. Take those two factors away, making them a one-dimensional team, will be key to victory for the Steelers...and they know it too. Tomlin re-iterated the turnover battle today during media day. I'm not trying to sound like a Pittsburgh homer, or say there is 100% no way the Cardinals are going to win. They could very well win. That offense concerns me very much and will be difficult to contain. I just think Parker will have anotehr day like he did against San Diego. Long story short, what I am trying to prove in all of this is that there is a possibility the Cardinals can win, but it's not likely. We'll just have to wait 4 more days to find out.

Say it is a stand-up for Silverwood, to me that makes perfect sense. They already have 3 (adult) sit-down coasters (2 wood and 1 steel) and an inverted. In my opinion, they are "killing 2 birds with one stone" with Aftershock because it is inverted and technically floorless. Building a B&M floorless or sit-down looper would, in a sense, be something they already have. A stand-up would be the first in over 10 years, so they have practically dropped off the face of the Earth. I'm almost positive that most of the people in that area have never seen, or even heard of a coaster you stand-up on (judging from my experience out there during Aftershock's opening...the general public, from what I heard, thought that was the coolest, baddest, and most unique thing they have ever seen). Imagine their reactions to a stand-up. I think a B&M hyper would also make sense, but it would have to be over 200 feet, in my opinion. Those are just my thoughts on if it is a stand-up for Silverwood. Led Zep was mediocre at best, but what about Hulk, Kumba, Dragon Kahn, and Wildfire off the top of my head? Those are all good rides. I'd still take Led Zep over any of the 3 B&M stand-ups I've been on, as well. I just can't imagine a park even wanting to build one of those rides at this point, or B&M building one for anyone. With so many other far superior designs it would certainly seem peculiar to me. I'm just saying that a sit-down looper might be too generic for what Silverwood wants to build...not that they are bad coasters or anything like that. -
Fixed, according to NFL.com I'm afraid the Steelers are going to win, but I don't think it's going to be as lopsided as people are making it sound. Sure, the Steelers are fantastic at run defense, but the Cards aren't really known for relying on their run game (which was 4th in the league...surprised me!). Fitzgerald has been just beastly this postseason, and Boldin really hasn't been a factor yet, so lookout if he breaks through. This could be the silver lining for the Cards, since they're 4th in the league in passing. The three above them? The Colts (they beat the Steelers), the Eagles (they beat the Steelers), and the Titans (they beat the Steelers). Obviously, the past doesn't determine the outcome of this game, but it does show a pattern that at least favors the Cards, if they can exploit it. As said by ParkTrips, look at the regular season, you're referring to the post season. The Steelers have played two games, the Colts and Titans played one game, and had good defensive games, but couldn't pull it out in the end. The Eagles had one more game than the Steelers to better their average. Once again, take a look at the regular season. The Steelers were number one in all categories until week 16 when Chris Johnson and LenDale White had fluke games, rushing for a combined 117 yards, which messed up the low average. In my opinion you're wrong when you said, "Sure, the Steelers are fantastic at run defense, but the Cards aren't really known for relying on their run game (which was 4th in the league...surprised me!)." Actually, it's quite the contrary. Anyone with even the slightest knowlege of football knows that one of the keys to victory is establishing a solid running game and controlling the clock. This post season, the Cardinals have been able to run the ball and control the clock, which has been key to their three victories. As I already stated in a previous post, the Cardinals ranked DEAD LAST in rushing YPG for the entire regular season. Not to mention that in their two post season games, the Steelers defense is averaging 44 rushing YPG against.

Yes you do, something the Steelers also have to add to that number one, league leading defense. The Steelers will do how they always do. The opposing team scores early, and they fail to score for the majority of the game. I don't know how to explain it, it's like the Steelers defense is feeling the other team out, then adjusts accordingly on every drive after that. The Patriots game, (not bringing that up just to pick on you, it's just a coincidence). The Pats scored quick to go up 7-0, and only scored 3 more points the rest of the game. The Chargers playoff game. They scored a quick TD, driving right down the field, then only scored 3 more points until the 4th quarter when the Steelers were playing deep zone and backups. The Ravens game, both Raven TDs in the AFC champpionship game were scored on Steelers penalties that put Baltimore in GREAT position each time. If the penalties hadn't happened, the Ravens could have easily been shut out. Those are only 3 of many examples. They can let Fitz have his catches, as long as he doesn't have any deep receptions, and the Steelers secondary makes their tackles. One of the few things I'm concerned about is Wisenhunt pulling some trick play out of his ass like he did against the Eagles, and many other teams. Even with the best defense in the league, they can still be very difficult to cover. Hopefully all of them have been used up already. Finally, like I have said in the past, I don't think the Steelers have come this far, overcoming so much adversity (conquering the NFL's toughest schedule, beating the Chargers twice, and the Ravens 3 times) only to lose to the Arizona Cardinals.

I personally like GHWT's song list better, but like RB's setup, playing style, etc. So it's a lose-lose situation for me, but I bought GHWT for the songs. -

Yes, great statement right there. Here's my addition to that. Yes the Cardinals are on a roll (something any team at any time can go on...example, the Cincinnati Bengals, who won their last, what, 3 games?), but we have to remember that they are a team who went 9-7, were 19th in overall defense, 22nd in pass defense, and 16th in rush defense, and as already stated...defense wins championships. Also not to mention that they were LAST, yes 32nd overall, even behind the Detroit Lions, in rushing YPG for the season. If the Steelers can establish the run, control the clock, and prevent the Cardinals from doing so, chances are they will be good to go.

I have done some research, and I looks like this points to Silverwood. http://www.silverwoodthemepark.com/history.php ISC Systems Corporation is Gary Norton's company and used to be called Getronics. And X-Works has a connection with Getronics. So X-Works points to Gary Norton - the owner of Silverwood. SC could mean "standing coaster" or "sitting coaster" but the rumors I have heard all point to a stand up. Yeah, I have heard those rumors also. If that's what the track is for, it all does make sense. If this is for a stand-up coaster for Silverwood, that would be really cool considering this will be the first B&M stand-up built since the Georgia Scorcher in 1999. -

all my years in manufacturing, often see Customer Xworks Customer DDU Customer DDP x-works = the customer will arrange the transportation from the factory to the final destination. no need to stick an actual customer name on the label - the Job number tells the system who the customer is plus it means any visitors from customer 1 at your factory don't see customer 2's name on stuff you are building. Not this one from their dive machine. -
Is this even a debate? Like Tomlin said, the Steelers will do like they always do, go to Tampa, do work, and come out victorious. They didn't come this far, beating the Ravens, only to lose to the Arizona Cardinals.

I go every year during opening week. Schools are still in so you should be good, just watch out for Physics day...made that mistake two years ago, wasn't fun at all. You literally have the park to yourself, there is NO ONE there. Weather can vary, I've gone when it was 40s and raining, and other times it was 70s and sunny, I'd say bring pants and a jacket/hoodie, though. If I were you, I'd take advantage of the package they offer, you can find details on their site under reservations. They may not have them posted yet. -

Technically Speed: The Ride in Vegas has a backwards launch. Now, granted it doesn't launch you backwards from a standstill, but it's still propels/launches you backwards to generate more speed on the return trip. -

^ I assume Josh is talking about the distance between Philly and Tampa, and Pittsburgh and Tampa which, according to Google Maps, has only a 20 mile difference. Go Steelers. Got my tickets and will be at the AFC Championship game. Can't wait! I hope the Cards can pull it out in the NFC. -

That sucks, I love the Pitt Fall. Now that you mention it, though, no matter what time of year I go (except Fall Fantasy), the line is never long and there is at least one side that is up at the top not in use. On another note, I would really like to see Kennywood get an Intamin Mega-Lite like Piraten and Kawasami. -
