Photo TR: Cedar Point opening weekend
FeelTheFORCE replied to jackskellington101's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Great pictures! You know, I used to hate it when the trim was on, on Mantis. That is, until I rode it on Monday and Tuesday. They had the damn thing on the hardest I've ever seen. It was awesome, though because it crawled through the loop and dive loop giving you SO MUCH hang time! -
Yeah, I believe 800x600 is the limit. Great pics, though! Can't wait to get there, possibly next week! Does Ghostwood Estate run in the rain?

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

Great pics! I like how you can walk right under it there and just chill. At Geauga Lake there was only one walkway, a small strip, where you could walk. You could walk around, but couldn't get that close. -
What's wrong with Mean Streak?
FeelTheFORCE replied to dammie16@vt.edu's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ In my opinion, you're over-exaggerating. I rode it both Monday and Tuesday and thought it was fine. Nowhere near being smooth or anything like that, but still enjoyable. Villain has always been a lot worse then Mean Streak. I don't see how anyone can consider Villain as one of their favorites, yet also say at the same time Mean Streak is intolerable, but that's just me. -
Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
FeelTheFORCE replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I completely agree. PR has reassured time and time again that they will keep the traditional aspect of Kennywood intact. However, now that a big corporation owns Kennywood, multi-million dollar upgrades are not out of the question anymore. With ownership under the family, we'd never see a $20 Million B&M, Intamin, giant Kiddie Land overhaul, or any upgrade of any sort, that expensive. Ghostwood Estate at only $2 Million was a HUGE investment for Kennywood. -

Horrible Park Operations
FeelTheFORCE replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cedar Point has gotten better with their rain policy. MF ran in slight rain on Monday. Magnum ran in slight rain Monday also, but only one train. Magnum was also testing this morning in rain. I'm assuming that they can run Magnum in the rain, because they always used to, just not with 3 trains so they don't run the risk of another crash. Skyhawk was running in the rain this morning as well. That's all I am aware of. Also, by "ran" I mean with people, not just testing. On to my bad operations experiences: -Cedar Point - Yesterday, at one time, about 5 of their major rides were down (WT, Mantis, Raptor, TTD, Maverick, and Skyhawk). The weather was perfect, too. They all eventually opened up again, but still. -TTD - There have been many times where I have encountered slow operations in previous years, especially during it's early years. -Six Flags Magic Mountain - These were back in the summer of 2006, so I am sure they have improved since then. -Tatsu - The last 4 rows or so were blocked off for Flash Pass users, making the line go slower than it could. Also not to mention the horrible dispatch times. -X - I waited a half hour to get into the station, then waited an hour and a half inside the station with no breakdowns whatsoever, just very slow loading and restraint checking. No, I am not exaggerating. -Riddlers Revenge - On Mantis, they check to make sure everyone is in the proper position before dispatching. On Riddlers, they locked the seats and whatever position you ended up in, is where you stayed. A girl in the row in front of me was almost sitting down because she was fooling around, bouncing up and down. The op didn't say or do anything when he checked her restraint. On top of all that, two ops on the other side of the train that were supposed to be checking restraints, were chasing each other, fooling around, and kicking each other. -Other than those 3 incidences, my day there was great and everything else was run and operated greatly. -
It's better than what SFMM used to do with X (they might still be doing it with some rides, I don't know, as I visited 2 years ago). They used to close it's line a couple hours before the park closed so the crew wouldn't be there 1 or 2 hours past closing. Cedar Point would never do such a thing, all rides' lines stay open until the park closes, with the exception of increment weather or mechanical reasons. If they have to run the ride 2 more hours after the park closes, then so be it. I never thought I'd still be walking around Cedar Point yesterday at 8:30, when the park closed at 7:00.

Yesterday, TTD was closed all day long. At one point in the day, TTD, WT, Mantis, Raptor, Maverick, MaXair (which is still broken from last season and seems to be down long-term), and Skyhawk were all closed. They all opened slowly, one by one, except MaXair (of course) and TTD. They opened TTD with about 35 minutes left before the park closed, and kept the line open until 7:30 pm, a half hour after park closing. Such a great and courteous move by CP, I applaud and praise them for that.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
FeelTheFORCE replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The last coaster I rode was Top Thrill Dragster, yesterday, May 13, 2008. Here's the story behind it. I was really bummed out that TTD was closed all day long yesterday, especially because at one point in the day, TTD, WT, Mantis, Raptor, Maverick, MaXair (which is still broken from last season and is down long-term), and Skyhawk. They opened TTD with about 35 minutes left before the park closed, and kept the line open until 7:30 pm, a half hour after park closing. Such a great and courteous move by CP, I applaud and praise them for that. Whoever says that Cedar Point's employees and ride-ops are going downhill definitely needs to visit that park again. On every single ride, the ops were singing, making jokes, interacting heavily with people, and just all-around getting people excited to ride. That's especially good for Monday when it was rainy, cold, wet, and miserable out. Also, not to mention every employee in the park I came across yesterday and Monday said hello, good morning, good evening, good afternoon, etc. -
Grand Theft Auto IV on PS3 and 360
FeelTheFORCE replied to verticalzero's topic in Random, Random, Random
^^ Yeah, 1.01. It fixed online issues mainly, though, not the freezing people have had. The same people are still having problems over at the Playstation forums. It's basically hit or miss, though, it's either going to work flawlessly or not at all. It's really isolated, though, and Rockstar said that it's only affecting a small batch of launch 60 GB PS3's that have a certain, different chipset. Mine was bought late enough to not have it, thankfully. That sucks about your 360. It's a shame such a great console is manufactured so poorly. It's ll because of those stupid heat sinks and X-Clamps inside the console designed for cooling purposes. They are put together so badly it looks like a child did it. They have gotten better and improved their failure rate since launch, but still not where they should be. Good luck with that! -
Grand Theft Auto IV - about 25% of the story complete. I have been playing online a lot recently, putting the story on somewhat of a hold. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Level 55 online. I don't do prestige because I like to have all the guns at my disposal when I am pwning n00bs! If anyone wants to play online, my PSN name is Destroyer95. Just let me know who you are from here. See you people online!

Grand Theft Auto IV on PS3 and 360
FeelTheFORCE replied to verticalzero's topic in Random, Random, Random
You can still walk all along the track, even though you can't ride. Just be careful not to fall into the middle! I finally bought this game on Thursday, May 8th (I had to wait until school was done) and it has worked flawlessly for me so far. I have a 60 GB PS3 that was bought in April 2007 and manufactured in February 2007. No problems whatsoever, no stutters, freezes, trouble getting into online games, etc. I love this game! If anyone wants to play online, my PSN name is Destroyer95. Just let me know who you are from here. See you people online! -

Hershey Park Opening Weekend

Awesome pictures! I have to try and get back there this summer. I was there last, but Fahrenheit looks to be worth the 4 hour trip. I love that Wild Mouse! Definitely the best Wild Mouse I have ever been on, by far! What did your dog do after the flash? lol -

Those were my original thoughts, but both of them have track that "threads" the loop, and the coaster in the picture doesn't. Hmm. -

Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
FeelTheFORCE replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maverick's supports are no where as big as Fahrenheit's (since most of Mav is practically on the ground). Fahrenheit has more elevation, so the height of the supports is probably what makes it louder. There are B&Ms with bigger supports than Fahrenheit's that sound much quieter (from what I can hear on the video). Take Silver Bullet for example. Support size doesn't make that much of a difference when they or the track spine are/is filled with sand. Intamin's aren't generally that loud, but this sounded like it had somewhat of a roar to it. It wouldn't be that loud (if that was Fahrenheit making the noise in the video) if the supports were filled with sand. -

This sounds louder than Maverick. I wonder if they filled the supports with sand or not? If not, that mini-roar sounds kinda cool!
