  1. Here's the latest Screamscape take on the mystery track. They make valid points, I guess we just have to wait and see. Hopefully some sort of label will pop up on a piece saying what park it belongs to.
  2. Why did you shun me when we both agreed Maverick is better? Yes, my brain is slow, very slow. lol He didn't. Three arrows means he is referring to the person three posts above him, not you.
  3. ^ They could use Scream's speakers and some extra strobe lights, or any kind of lights, here and there. There you go, audio and visual effects.
  4. Raptor at Cedar Point, a B&M Invert, rolled back in 2006.
  5. That explains why they are never on then, lol. I couldn't remember if they were there when I rode it in 2001, so I had to resort to Youtube POVs, which only go back to 2006, as far as I found. Has it ever rolled back? Perhaps during testing right after it was built, but I don't recall it ever doing so.
  6. ^ If it's anything like it was at GL, it will be more like a trim brake. It barely taps the train and you get a decent amount of air after the brakes on the drop going down to the first corkscrew.
  7. I completely agree with JZ. While Maverick isn't my favorite, it's definitely up there. It's hard to compare the two because they are different and unique in their own ways. TTD offers the biggest rush I have ever felt, while Maverick isn't as thrilling, it's definitely one of the funnest coasters I have been on.
  8. The prizes vary by park. At Cedar Point last year, if you made all the shots, you won a Wii, whereas at Kennywood, if you made all the shots you won a jersey of your choice (out of a limited selection). I forget what the top prize at Kings Island was.
  9. Here's a Beast video I found from 1985 if anyone is interested. Here's a video of a local newscast regarding the changes taking place at KI for this summer. There is also some brief footage of what's going on at Swan Lake.
  10. Yeah, those trims have been there since at least 2006 (earliest I can find POV footage of), but I don't recall them ever being on, I know they weren't during my visit last summer on July 9th. I got 7 rides that day and not one the trims were on. I hope it stays that way at KD.
  11. Screamscape has also said that many sources have confirmed that it is Dive Machine track. Here's another picture.
  12. If Kings Island is getting a Dive Machine, then yes. Here's one more picture to add to the list.
  13. ^ Somewhere in south-western Ohio, near Cincinnati, I believe.
  14. ^^ When exactly were these "huge queues" at Vortex? I understand it was one day I went, and a judgment based on that doesn't have a lot of credibility, but I went on a Friday in August and the park was completely dead. Everything was a walk-on all day, except Firehawk. On top of that, SOB was closed until about 3:00 pm, so it couldn't eat up people for half of the day, yet there was still no one there. The waterpark was packed, but I felt like I was at a park in May it was so empty.
  15. Here are my favorites in random order: -Drop Tower (Formerly Drop Zone - Kings Island) -Pittfall (Kennywood) -Demon Drop (Cedar Point) -Power Tower (Cedar Point) -Big Shot ( Las Vegas Stratosphere. The anticipation for this one really heightens and enhances the experience.)
  16. But the rides are mostly crap. Funny how a tiny park like Indiana Beach manages to have a better flat ride collection than the so-called mighty Cedar Point. Cedar Point's rides are very thrilling and all out fun, which is what I like in parks. You may think differently, but I agree with JZ and tend to seek out parks with thrilling flats and coasters. Cedar Point fits that category perfectly.
  17. Haha, you could still be right, anyone's guess is game at this point in time. I mean, who knows, maybe they are producing track for hypers that is more reinforced because of the new, heavier, Behemoth-style trains. Looks awesome, whatever it is, and I can't wait to find out what it's for!
  18. I thought that too, but look at the spine of the track (the box part), it's too big to be that of a traditional B&M. Also, look at Vertical Coaster's (Chimelong Paradise) track, the ties look the same and aren't flat in certain parts. Compare that spine to that of Hydra's, typical B&M track spine. Hydra: Lastly, look at the lift hill on the new track, it has flat ties like that on a Dive Machine. BYM Hyper lift hills don't have flat ties like that. At any rate, whatever it's for, looks to be awesome!
  19. The plant in Ohio where B&M steel coaster track is fabricated has created some new track that looks to be that of a Dive Machine. I wonder where it's going? Note that this is the same factory that we saw in pictures when track was fabricated for the Dive Machine at Chimelong Paradise. Pictures: Credit for the pictures goes to Sheikra_rocks of coasterdynamix.com.
  20. While I think that it's previous location at GL, right by the lake, was far superior to it's current location, Dominator will, once again, receive the ridership it deserves, yet wasn't getting in the last couple years of Geauga Lake. Don't get me wrong, I liked being able to ride it 10 times within an hour last year, especially in the middle of July, when the park should normally be packed, but it was sad seeing no one ride this world-class coaster day after day after day, and seeing numerous empty trains being cycled because no one was in line. Kings Dominion is really getting a quality coaster!
  21. …you travel thousands of miles and spend thousands of dollars just to visit Cedar Point and ride Millennium Force once. …you know exactly how many times you’ve rode your favorite roller coaster. …your heroes are Walter Bolliger and Claude Mabillard. …you wonder, “Where are the roller coasters?” when you make a trip to a city. …you get an amusement park map and you first look at where the roller coasters are. …you design a roller coaster in Roller Coaster Tycoon and your guests are too scared to ride it. …you nod in agreement with some of the items on this list! …you save your money so you can one day travel to ride every roller coaster in the U.S. …you make a list of your favorite roller coasters, from the most favorite to the least favorite. …you can remember the first roller coaster that turned you into a roller coaster fanatic. …when you pass by the cameras for the on-ride photo, you do a goofy pose. …you sincker in amusement at some of the items on this list! …you wonder if B&M will build a roller coaster in your backyard. … you call the coasters in Dueling Dragons by their proper names Fire and Ice, while other people call them “blue” or “red.” …your idea of a perfect vacation is riding roller coasters all day. All these apply to me. at the B&M Dive Machine Track!
  22. When it gets closer to coaster season (like around now), I start having random coaster/theme park dreams because I am getting pumped for summer and riding coasters again after the 9 month drought. Most of which I can't remember, though.
  23. I'm no local or anything so things could have changed since I was last there, but when I went at the end of June of the summer of 2006, I went on a Wednesday and it was relatively empty. The only rides that had long lines were Tatsu (due to poor operations/being new), X (due to poor operations), Superman (operations were very good, it was just popular at that time of day), and Deja Vu (once again, poor operations/bad capacity). Everything else was a walk-on. Once again, that was two years ago and things have drastically changed since then, from what I hear, especially the coaster operations, but that gives you a very general idea and get's you started. I'd say any weekday should be good, but preferably towards the middle of the week. Have fun!
  24. Yeah, of course it's nowhere near to what it used to be without MF, but what they are saying is that Cedar Point did a hell of a job keeping it hidden and un-interupting the flow of Frontiertown as much as they could, for it being such a huge coaster.
  25. Great pics! I really like their arena and that shark dropping from the roof! At any rate, though, let's go Pens!
