  1. Going back to the mystery track in Ohio, I have something to add. I know the label said "DM" and we have practically confirmed that this is, indeed Dive Machine track, but I just want to say something else too. As we saw, the track doesn't have flat ties like your standard B&M Dive Machine track. I was looking at POVs on Youtube and came across one of Chimelong Paradise's new Dive Machine. I'd like to point out that in the POV you can clearly see that there isn't one segment of track on the whole ride that has flat ties, except the lift hill, which look identically to the segments in Ohio. I'd post the POV, but I'm not sure if I am allowed because it might be an unauthorized one. It's not hard to find, though. That's just something to think about, as new Dive Machines apparently don't need to use flat ties anymore.
  2. I doubt it. I'm sure the rails will be painted. It's just that for a while B&M would not let parks paint the rails. This ride originally opened before B&M gave a green light for rail painting. Medusa (GADV), which opened in 1999 (one year before Dominator), had painted rails, so did Kraken, which opened in 2000 (the same year as Dominator). Perhaps they suggested that the parks not paint them, but they still could if they wanted to. Medusa Kraken
  3. Awesome! Can't wait to go in July and ride Aftershock!
  4. My dad had a bypass last summer and him and I have been wondering the same thing. He is just going to take it slow for now. I am going to GADV in the first week of June and I doubt he'll be riding Kingda Ka, El Toro, Nitro, Batman, etc. He'll probably only ride the smaller ones like Rolling Thunder, Dark Knight, etc. Anyone here know if people who have had a heart attack in the past and a single bypass surgery should ride coasters or not? As I'd like to know the same for my dad as well. The thing is, though, he plays tons of sports and is doing just great, so it's not his heartbeat we are worried about because hid pulse and BPM are way higher when he plays racquetball than they will be at the top of a lift hill, rather more the effects the G-Forces will have on his already damaged heart.
  5. This is new to me. What happened? Was the launch somehow too powerful, and it slammed into the stopper? That doesn't even seem possible. As NewsPlusNotes said, a magnet fin on the train was slightly bent, enough to not go through the slot properly and hit the LIMs attached to the track at high speeds.
  6. Here is a picture that Flyin Phil took showing how much space there is: Once again, credit goes to Flyin Phil for this picture.
  7. Awesome! I can't wait to finally ride this great impulse again! I'll be going in the first week of June.
  8. As already asked, what would happen if both chains broke? What, then, would stop the train from rolling back down the lift hill and crashing into the train in the station? It's far fetched, but it has a better chance of happening than every single anti-rollback notch built into a lift hill track breaking. That's the thing about anti-rollbacks built into the track, they are virtually fail-safe because there are so many of them. Two chains just doesn't seem like it is so much. I'm no expert on engineering or anything, so I could be missing something here, but I'm just curious.
  9. Yeah that and perhaps our favorite coaster.
  10. Article on Ghostwood Estate. Sounds pretty cool that you have so much freedom with your vehicle. You can stop, turn, and if there is a fork in the road, choose which way to go. This ride is going to be better than I expected!
  11. Rockstar is working around the clock on a patch to fix the freezing issues. Link 1. Link 2.
  12. ^^ Nemesis looks like it was painted to look "raw." I really like how it looks, too.
  13. I have a feeling those problems are very isolated, and over blown. I played it all evening without a single freeze. They are far from being isolated. Go the Official Playstation forums, Official Xbox 360 forums, Gamespot forums, and NeoGAF forums and you'll see what I am talking about. The problems are more prevalent in the Playstation 3 version of the game, but problems are still occurring on Xbox 360. From what I understand (on the PS3 version), it has something to do with the install required before you can play. The console is having trouble retrieving information and rendering from the previously installed data. This reminds me of the Assassin's Creed freezing problems when it was released...very similar. A simple patch fixed them, though. Link to an article on Gamespot. Link to an article on Kotaku. Link to article on CNET. Link to article on Joystiq. Link to article on Yahoo.
  14. Yeah, but then what about the outside seats on Griffon and Sheikra? You aren't directly above the track. I can see why X (and similar coasters, such as Kirnu) wouldn't be, because the seats rotate, but Furius Baco is the same concept as Griffon, but with no seats in the middle. I don't know. I'm not saying you are wrong, just something I've wondered, where should the line be drawn when using the term "floorless?"
  15. Would coasters like X and Furius Baco count as floorless coasters also? They aren't by RCDB's standards, but technically they could be.
  16. Wow there are massive freezing and framerate issues reported for both consoles. Sounds like they haven't tested the game thoroughly on every version of both consoles. I guess that's what you get when you release so many SKUs, it's tough to keep track of them all and develop perfectly for them all.
  17. Kennywood's might, I know it used to.
  18. Well, whatever it was, it's gone now. I don't think it was that big of a deal.
  19. Call me ignorant, but what exactly is a pull-through? It's when they slowly (and I mean VERY slowly) pull, usually two, cars of the train through the course with a giant wooden "fan" attached to the front that simulates how far people can reach. It reassures that people can't reach any supports, track, ground, etc. while riding.
  20. Could they possibly have been doing a pull-through, and the rain stopped them from continuing, but they didn't want it to get wet?
  21. I guess the Big Dipper rumor was fake, as there haven't been any announcements or press releases.
  22. I didn't know where to post this, as there isn't a Cedar Point updates/discussion thread, nor is there a 2008 Cedar Point thread. This information isn't important enough to warrant it's own thread, so I just decided post it here. For this season, retractable seat belts were added on Mean Streak, along with Blue Streak and Corkscrew to help improve dispatch times and make it easier to board.
  23. X2 could take that award away from Behemoth, if it qualifies.
  24. Is this it? If so, it is an I: HP is being tricky!
  25. I also saw SFMM do this a couple of times. That issue has since been addressed. --Robb It's good to know that has been addressed. I remember when I was at SFMM in June of 2006, they had 3 or 4 rows blocked off for Flash Pass users on Tatsu. If there was no one in the flash pass line, they would send the train out with empty rows, while the 2 hour line wasn't getting any smaller. This happened all day long. Thankfully, though, I had Flash Passes. The funny thing is, I didn't pay anything for them! Some lady gave them to us because she was leaving. I also found more on the ground in X's queue later that day! I didn't even use them all and still have the rest as keepsakes. My point is, before that, I always thought Flash Passes, Q-Bots, or whatever were a complete waste of money. After actually experiencing using some, it was great! As you said, Robb, it really does make your experience all the better, especially in my case where I had only one day to ride ALL the coasters at SFMM, and especially during peak times!
