SFGADV....Flash Pass/Q-Bot Help
FeelTheFORCE replied to incumethod55's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, I was afraid of that. Oh well, I bought a season pass, so I won't be pressured to ride everything in one day. I can take my time, spread it out over a week, and thoroughly enjoy it. I have confidence because two years ago I went to SFMM at the end of June and the park was pretty empty. Everything was a walk-on except Tatsu and X. If SFMM wasn't crowded that late, then GADV might not be that bad after all. I realize that they are in completely different climates, but still. I think I'm more worried about doing everything at Dorney Park in one day, than I am about the crowds at GADV. Thanks for taking the time to answer me, though! -
SFGADV....Flash Pass/Q-Bot Help

I don't mean to hi-jack this thread or anything, but can anyone tell me how the crowds will possibly be like the week of Saturday May 31 through Saturday June 7? -
Could it be moved?
FeelTheFORCE replied to Skramp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I see what you are asking now, I slightly mis-read the original post. I think a great example of that is Dominator. It's lift hill was literally on the edge of the lake and you had a great view of the other side while climbing it. Being in a generic spot at King's Dominion is going to take away from that old experience, but at the same time, create a new one. It all depends on where an "icon" coaster is moved, but in some cases, I think the new experience created is just as good (if not better) as (than) the old one. It all depends on the person riding it too. I like thrills more than theming and would take Scream! over any Disney coaster, any day. -
Could it be moved?
FeelTheFORCE replied to Skramp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Terrain coasters like The Beast and Phantom's Revenge would be very difficult to move. They can't just be plopped down on a flat parking lot, because they require a certain landscape and terrain. I guess theoretically they could be, if extra supports are added, but that would be too expensive and make the coaster look stupid. PR's lift height would be increased dramatically and the drop wouldn't be close to the ground at all. It would be like a real life RCT. So in short, if coaster like those two were ever in the way and needed moving, they'd probably just be scrapped, or burned in Beast's case. -

Does Dominator still have the tallest loop at 135 feet? -

I don't count fair rides more than once either. They are made to move around, rides like Dominator aren't. -

I know what an element is, you don't need to lecture me on it. Hence why I said, "sort of." I didn't say it's exactly the same as adding a new element. How do you know they didn't get B&M to manufacture a new piece of track or support for a certain area because the old one was in bad condition, or they damaged it during disassembly? That would essentially, then, make it a new credit. What about paint? Those aren't the "same molecules." You can do as you please and not count it, but I am still going to count Firehawk as a different credit than X-Flight, as, in my opinion, having a different color scheme and being in a new setting is enough for it to qualify as a new credit because the concept is no different than a clone. -
Cedar Point or Kings Island?

The Beast at night is the best! Just imagine how their new B&M is going to be at night. -
Planning a trip to SFGAdv on 5/18...
FeelTheFORCE replied to ck8-04's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I'm going for the first time as well. I'll be going the first week in June. If you go that early, I don't think everything can be done in one day because the park closes at 6:00 pm, which I thought was kind of stupid for June already, but whatever. I decided to go multiple days and, instead of buying multiple tickets, just bought a season pass. It's cheaper that way. The only thing that's going to suck is the $15 parking every time I go. Also, I plan on NOT buying any Flash Passes or a Q-Bot. -

So much has changed since I was at SFMM in the summer of 2006. I really want to go back! I hope to return next summer! Great pics, and all that stuff looks really cool! -

No! You can't deny that it is the EXACT SAME COASTER! Would you count it as new if they just moved it to a different part of the park, painted it blue, and called it Spork? You would not. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. If you count this as new, you're inflating your count and making it inaccurate. Honestly, why does it matter? It's not like there is a prize for the person who has ridden the most. If they want to count it as a credit, then let them. Also, by using that logic, exact clones (like B:TR, Boomerangs, SLCs, etc.) shouldn't be counted either. I like to count relocated coasters as credits because of these reasons, plus the ones in my previous post: 1) The scenery around the coaster makes up part of the experience and new scenery is sort of like adding a new element. 2) I like to know if I've ridden a coaster at it's new location or not. If I don't count it and it's years down the road where I can't remember if I did or not, I like to be able to look at my list and see if I have. -
Cedar Point or Kings Island?
FeelTheFORCE replied to NINCUB's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wait until the end of May because the Thursday and Friday of opening week, the park is FILLED with kids who are there for physics day. I used to go every year those two days and it would be empty. Last year it wasn't, everything was an hour wait and it was terrible. I'd say go later in May because local kids are still in school. Unless, of course you plan on going Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of that week. The only bad thing about that is the park closes at 7:00 pm. Before last year it was 8:00 pm. -

Cedar Point or Kings Island?
FeelTheFORCE replied to NINCUB's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd say Cedar Point. As Robb said, Maverick and Raptor are better than anything at KI, and worth the extra distance. In my opinion, they are also better than anything at Kennywood. I'd go to KI and CP before going to Kennywood. Kennywood is overrated, in my opinion. -
Photo TR: Jahan's Awesome TPR-Midwest Trip Report!
FeelTheFORCE replied to arrowfanman's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Kennywood is my home park and I agree with everything gotdane said about it, except it being dirty and ghetto. I don't even think I'm going to go to Kennywood this summer, because it's gotten too boring for me. I would have rather driven 2 hours to Geauga Lake, than 15-20 minutes to Kennywood this summer, if GL was still open. One main reason is because I like thrills, and Kennywood isn't about thrills, it's about family. While that's not a bad thing, it just isn't what I'm looking for. It's now been 7 years since Kennywood has gotten a major ride, and frankly, it's gotten to the point where doing the same thing every year has gotten too repetitive and boring. Yeah it's nice to see tradition and the places I went to and things I did when I was a kid, but I'll take a B&M floorless over that any day. I'm glad Parque took over. While they said they were going to keep most of the traditions and values of Kennywood, you can also bet that a big addition is planned, as they also have a business to run. Great PTR, by the way! -
TTD Arms Down
FeelTheFORCE replied to Superdasher's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Is there a sound file of this spiel plus the engine sounds, or does Cedar Point have the only one? I have been looking for a few years now, but have come up with nothing. I figured after the Millennium Force song became available, the TTD spiel would pop up somewhere. I keep suggesting to T&T that they should release that, too, but I guess they don't want to or can't. -
Highest $$$ Earning Roller Coaster
FeelTheFORCE replied to deano's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For regular theme parks, I'd say Cedar Point's collection gets them a nice profit. For "pay-per-ride" I'd also have to say the Coney Island Cyclone. -
Parks close to airports

The Pittsburgh International Airport is relatively close to Kennywood. -

It probably does it automatically the first time when the trains pass sensors, but anything after that is manual, I believe. They say the same thing on Kingda Ka also. It could be for liability reasons.
