That's an easy one, bro. A family coaster is for kids who aren't up to the task of riding the bigger rides, but they're still exciting enough for adults to enjoy. "A ride the whole family can enjoy." Height isn't always a factor. Just about any mine train is a prime example. It's the happy medium between a Hyper and a Roller Skater.2 points

That's concerning. I've read enough Facebook posts to know if you don't hear the restraint click it can lead to injury or death.2 points

That gunk is just grease which is normally part of any hydraulic system. As it sits it "clouds" instead of appearing more viscous or not at all. The trains not being on the transfer track isn't an indication of anything as there is no need to have the trains exposed to the elements sitting stationary for no reason. Better to have them off and in longer term storage where there is more control over the environments and elements, let alone if there is anything additional being done to them. If the ride is going to be modified in any way (like with the wild rumors of changing it to a different type of launch), then the trains are likely needing modifications done to them anyways.2 points

It certainly is. Iron Gwazi really is freaking phenomenal! My jaw was dropped after each of my 4 laps on it, easily one of the best coasters ever built, period! But I might be weird for having VelociCoaster ranked right above IG. I enjoyed riding and re-riding VC a lil more than IG for other overall factors. I don't think anyone's wrong for thinking any of those coasters (including Vengeance) are better than the other. They're all superb for various reasons! It can admittedly be a small downer when someone like me, visiting once every few years, see's either of those two rides or other favorites on the sign of closed rides at the park's entrance. But also, I also feel like the overall experience of BGT makes up for rides like those two being down because there's so many other things to do there even for one full day. If someone visits only for the thrill rides, you might be closing yourself off to just how great of an overall theme park and zoo BGT is. Granted on my recent visit in May, both rides were listed as closed, yet I was lucky to catch CC operating in the afternoon and hopped on when I passed by it going to Montu. I suppose it just has its bad days now and then? Wholly agreed. In May I did a little bit of Universal, the coasters at Fun Spot Orlando, all of BGT and all of SWO in my 2.5 days in town, and felt like I could jump on everything I wanted without much planning once in the parks. Compared to having to do significant planning before and during a visit to Disney.1 point

The official POV has been posted on YouTube and the ride is opening tomorrow, I'm just wondering if they've finished the walk-through que, I thought they were still working on the que building but I could be wrong:1 point

The Coaster Campout at Carowinds benefited the Boys & Girls Clubs of America the year I went. I took my daughter and two of her friends in 2019. I don't think it has returned since COVID. Hopefully it will be back next year. It was a blast. Camping in the shadow of Intimidator was really cool. Half of the campers didn't even show up for the ERT on Copperhead Strike and Fury 325.1 point

Worlds of Fun is intriguing to me with all of its space serving the Kansas City metro area. There's no reason to think if CF invested a good amount of money into it (like a B&M giga for example and the usual CF treatment when they invest) it would become more successful. I feel like with recent developments it's definitely a "park to watch."1 point

Why is everyone talking about major changes to the launch when the launch had nothing to do with the accident?1 point

I really have no idea why people are saying Timber Wolf is rough as much of the ride is so tame now, it's pretty dull. It used to be a very rough ride, but the difference now is night and day. There is one airtime hill which is still the original profile and it can throw you and the train around, but that is one quick hill. The very end of the ride still needs to be retracked, but that is a very short section. Other than something being off with a train or something (I will say the last row of the train tends to shake side to side, so maybe that is part of the complaints), the rough comments just make no sense. I typically do not ride over a wheel/axel, so that may make a difference (like that last row), but with so much of the ride replaced, it's practically a new ride, other than the trains.1 point

Agreed. The trains off of the track means nothing, as it definitely makes complete sense. They have already announced the closure for the season, so it wouldn't make sense to leave them there. Whatever they do, I hope it pisses a lot of people off. Can you say, "World largest super loop coaster?" Bring it.1 point

I had to drive out to Palm Springs for an insurance claim this morning. I drove by the old Wet and Wild and found construction signs. I checked the internet to see if they were re-opening and found this video. As an insurance adjuster, I can't condone this conduct, but this skating is absolutely insane. I can't skateboard on flatland, let alone a whole water slide and neither can them. Sorry, if this is in the wrong forum category and please delete or remove if inappropriate.1 point

Same, though to be fair my expectations were kinda low, I really expected it to be meh at night or at the least not worth the effort it took to achieve but I was pleasantly surprised. In fact while waiting I had TPR up and was ready to post "enthusiasts have done it again" in grossly overhyping something and doing sheeple stuff but yup: For once the community at large did not disappoint! Like parts where it felt like a crawl in the afternoon were hauling major ass. Not my personal best, for that you need Voyage at night (and with the MCBR turned off) if you really want some epic shit. But that's for another thread. And overall I did have a good day. Perhaps it was the brutal July heat but I found Diamonback and esp Orion better than previously. The ops were still fantastic and for such a big park still maintains some nice feel. All in all a wonderful time.1 point

From what I understand, GCI didn’t do the full retrack. I heard wof did the last quarter of the ride because it obviously was cheaper to do in house, which is why it’s probably still rough. I heard the return run up into the brakes was done in house. Don’t know if that’s true or not, but it would explain a lot.1 point

I paid our two hotel room via Mastercard at arrival and paid surely everything we bought in the park the same way. Perhaps not all food stalls accept them, but most will do.1 point

Credit cards were widely accepted at Phantasialand (at least the restaurants we visited). If you ask for a link to pay the hotel by credit card, they will send one to you.1 point

Woah! Who does Cedar Fair think they are actually sending something new to one of their smaller parks? Have they forgotten it's been two years since Kings Island added a coaster?1 point

It's not impossible. Most similar rides have similar height restrictions. Most B&M speed coasters have the same height restriction across the board, most intamin family coasters have the same height restrictions across the board. . . and so on and so on. This isn't a new wheel, just a new coster, more of the same.1 point

Cool to see the full loop in a proslide tornado. Sad to see a waterpark closing though1 point

? Yeah, sucks when coasters beautifully interact with park entrances displayed in well maintained grassy areas where everyone can see them.1 point

^Yeah but Mach tower is a dumb ride and no one really cares if it's down. FF is actually a really awesome ride that's sad to see closed!!!1 point

People should go into Busch Gardens Tampa acting as if Falcon's Fury is simply a very large telephone pole. It's a mirage. It's a figment of your imagination. That way, when it's closed they won't be upset about it. I feel like it's down on at-least half of our visits.1 point

Takes too long to really ramp up to the max intensity that it reaches in the 2nd half. Skyrush is mind blowing from the second it drops off the lift until it hits the brakes with very few chances to catch your breath. Velocicoaster is a masterpiece, no doubt. Skyrush isn't really a masterpiece as much as something someone drew up on a cocaine binge which is why IMO it wins that competition.1 point
-
Cool, something else to make Skyrush's line shorter! In all seriousness, I think a park with an RMC, the most batshit insane Intamin ever built, and a host of other fantastic coasters might be in the running for best coaster park in the country once this is up and running.1 point

Wildcat is terrible, rough garbage. I'd be fine with RMC. . or just bulldozing the damn thing.1 point
