  1. ^I heard the new management is going bold and they got a big statue of a middle finger to go there instead of the Batmobile. It is going to block the path they put in last season so everyone has to use the old one.

  2. Non-Fungible-Token. Basically serialized digital images (EDIT: or any other type of digital file). One is paying to own the "original" of a digital file. That anyone can just screenshot. It makes no sense to me either, and I'm only 38.

  3. Hey, at least they're spending money on things they can actually hold and quantify...still better than NFT buyers.

  4. that, honestly, was the MOST satisfying Schadenfreude I've experienced in years.

  5. Nah the Pokemon card thing is all Logan Paul's fault. He ruined card collecting by bringing this kind of attention to the hobby and inviting a massive wave of scammers and scalpers. I'm so happy to see he wasted 3.5 million on fake cards.

  6. ^I know the discussion of the USO Twitter poking fun at the other parks was already discussed in the Sea World thread and I was on the side of enjoying Twitter wars when both sides are playing but this is one topic where I really wish they wouldn't joke and parks work together to aim something more scathing towards scalpers than making light of it. Maybe I'm more sensitive because my son was old enough this year to fully embrace Christmas, and yes parents trying to get the latest toy is part of Christmas as a parent, but at least that is against other parents who are just also out for their kids. Scalpers worked so hard to ruin Christmas for us on almost everything this year. Everything that had virtual lines or lotteries were overrun by bots and then on the internet at 100% mark-up an hour later and it sucks how much children lose out on these things. Even Pokemon cards of all things have adults fighting over them....

  8. I wouldn't recommend sleeping on Kraken but if you're at SeaWorld during the week in early February you might be able to. Just grab an inside seat in a middle row, fall asleep and the ops probably won't even notice you.

  9. 100%. Hulk's first half is amazing, but the second half is kind of meandering. Kumba and Montu are fantastic from start to finish. Montu might have the best second half of any B&M I've been on.

  10. When visiting my home park's page (Great Escape) they still advertise passes and memberships. they are now offering the Pay one price for the year but are still offering monthly payments. Not sure why the change in name but it looks to be essentially still just memberships. Now they just let you pay it all at once for 12 months. As long as I can keep paying my monthly rate for my family and get the same benefits as always, I don't care what they end up calling things.

  12. I'll second Colonial Williamsburg! If your at all interested in history, enjoy "living" history stuff, or both it is very much worth it. You can park in their parking lot by the visitor center and either walk (it's like a 5 minute walk max) or pay a fee and ride one of their buses. You have to buy a ticket to go inside the buildings, but you can walk on the streets for free since it's a public street technically. No matter what you decide I would say it's worth it to at least check out. There are also similar things at Yorktown and Jamestown nearby (not as extensive, and with varying degrees of cost) if you want to make a day out of the "Colonial Triangle" or whatever it's called now. Virginia Beach is popular but I've never been so I'm no help there. Shenandoah National Park (https://www.nps.gov/shen/index.htm) isn't all that far away either, a little bit of a drive but you could make a day of that if you really wanted to. Will say that I don't consider it one of the better national parks out there (if you had to choose between Shenandoah and the Smokies, I would 1000% say the Smokies), but it's fun and different. I would say skip SFA at (almost) all costs... The stuff on the mall is great, although getting into DC is a beast (even by parking outside the city and taking the subway in it's tough). All of the Smithsonians are great and well worth a trip. I think the main Air and Space Museum on the mall is closed for remodeling, but the one by Dulles airport (The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center; https://airandspace.si.edu/udvar-hazy-center) is open and I will say is absolutely fantastic. I would even consider it to be better than the main museum on the mall, its's that good. They do charge for parking ($15 last I was there I think), but it's well worth it. Very well put together, some really cool planes, highly HIGHLY recommend! Have you also just considered a second day at BGW? Not sure if its your first time or not, but that's such a big park you might consider a second day to be able to take it all in.

  14. I have confidence that Knott's will do a good job, no doubt about that. Kinda wish they had given a little more heads up about it, as it will be closed for a year it sounds like, with only 3 days notice. While I hope it isn't a replacement of the flywheel with the LIM/magnets launch, I would rather them replace the launch system than loose the ride. Whatever they do I hope it helps the ride ZOOM into the future...

  15. They better not put in LSMs... the ride is pointless w/ LSMs as they are so much more powerful than the weight drop. Im sure Intamin can provide a new weight drop system. Its a swarzkopf product, brilliant SIMPLE engineering. IMO there is virtually no reason to remove any Swarzkopf looper except for space reasons.

  16. just so you're aware, if you haven't been. . the Airport isn't really close to either. . it's at least a 45-1 hour drive (if light traffic) to SFOG from the airport. . (tho it's only ~20-30 minutes to Fun Spot as you're not going thru Metro Atlanta to get there). tho if you take the Marta to Peachtree Plaza (a $2.50 ride), you can grab an uber from there for only ~$20 (I leave from that area during Dragon*con to go to SFOG every year). . LOL

  17. Viper can technically run 4 trains. There are two blocks outside the station (transfer track and brakes outside the station). They never will run more than 3 though. Viper had 4 trains, gutted one for parts, and is now back to 4 thanks to inheriting one from another park that tore down their arrow looper. One is always slowly being refurbished in the cycle shop, so you will rarely see them all at the ride.

  19. Thank god you're running after thunderstorms and not running a massive tourist destination. You're now equating schools with entertainment options. C'mon, man. And finally now you're insulting everyone on this board with your stupid little sign-off quotes. Get bent. You might have some idea of what weather can do since you claim to be a storm chaser, but there are also legitimate meteorologists on this board who would also tell you to take a hike. Climb down off of your high horse and let people make their own decisions. You're not their dad. Edit - Furthermore, as an actual father myself, if my son told me they wanted to go ride coasters with the chance of a storm rolling through I'd tell them to keep an eye on things but to have a blast. Do you have the slightest clue how small of a chance there is of a tornado sucking you into the sky? I would hope you do, seeing as you're a storm chaser, right? Holy crap.

  20. I would love something to break into the Jets game I’m watching right now and put me out of my misery. There’s an F5 shitstorm in the middle of MetLife stadium right now and it’s called the New York Jets. … anyway. I get it, storms are dangerous. If you want to talk about how these businesses like this need to invest in large storm shelters and comprehensive plans then I’m with you. Cedar Point putting up “storm safe” signs everywhere with little tornado icons on them when their plan is literally “I don’t know, everyone run in this bathroom I guess” that’s dumb but it’s entirely impractical to close Disney World 100 days a year and close every large venue in the Midwest any time there’s a chance of a tornado developing at some point that day.

  21. Imagine telling parks and sports teams in the Midwest that they couldn’t open or hold events on days where a tornado watch might be issued. Imagine telling Disney to close when there’s a chance of a severe thunderstorm warning being issued that afternoon with radar indicated rotation in the forecast every single day all summer. Lol, get real.

  22. How mature of you. You obviously don't get it. Im a media storm chaser and I've been involved with this for over a decade and I have seen first hand accounts of what these storms can do. (just ask the people of the nearby city of Joplin) Of course ignorance is bliss. If you were present during a direct hit on a stadium, theme park, or any large event with mass casualties then people like you will sing a different tune I assure you. Hindsight is always 20/20 and it always seems it takes something like that for people to actually act. Sadly that is what it will probably take and it will eventually happen.

  23. Hmmm, we were there for Coaster Christmas the Sat before the fire. Back in 2018 about a week after we were at BGW for CoasterCon, Escape from Pompeii caught on fire. On the other hand I probably shouldn't be pointing out such patterns on a public forum
