  1. Would you believe it? After 15 years of the TPR forum being online, we finally updated it!!! We hope many of you will love the more streamlined look, improved functionality, and new features. And I'm sure some of you will hate, because... "change" but, hey... that's okay, too! This is also the thread to use to report things not working or not working correctly. With 15 years worth of content, it is impossible to check and test every little corner of the forum, so if you find something that doesn't seem right, please report it here. So why did we make the change? Mostly due to the fact that the old forum we were using was pretty outdated, and even though there were some updates available for that software, it really is more of a "free" open source base of code, and we wanted to switch to something a bit more "professional" with a proper support staff. It's a change we've wanted to do for a while, but never really found a good timing for it. So here are some of the new features to check out... Much better Mobile View! With about 85% of our traffic now coming from mobile devices, we needed a forum that would look and feel better on your phone. Easier to add photos! Either from your phone or from your desktop, you can now quickly upload photos to a post! Much like you would on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter! You can even drag a photo from your desktop right into the place you want it to appear in your post! That's what I did here... "LIKE" a post! This is a feature long overdue and something people have been asking us to add for years! Now it's easy to "LIKE" and react to a post! But please do not let that stop you from also adding your own reply! Replies are what helps keeps the forum alive! Import VIDEO into a post! Yes! You can now add video clips to your trip reports! However, while you can now import video, we do ask that you keep it to shorter clips, no more than 5 minutes. Please don't post full length movies! Embed YouTube videos instead! lava monster.mp4 Overall, this updated forum will add a lot of new functionality, ease of use, and better browsing. We hope you all like it, and please let us know if you find anything that doesn't work right! I will continue to update this thread with new features we highlight! This would be a great time for you to click that "follow" button on the top of the page so you can get notifications for when we update this post! Thanks again for your support!!!

  2. Halloween Harvest, or “Howl-o-Scream Lite.” Busch Gardens is sticking with its “reservations only/limited attendance” events with Halloween Harvest during October. This is sort of “Howl-o-Scream Lite,” with kid-friendly activities during the daytime session (11:00 am-3:00 pm) and slightly scarier stuff in the evening (5:00-9:00 pm). During the day, the park offers “contactless trick-or-treating” and a scavenger hunt, in addition to a selection of rides, such as Apollo’s Chariot, Tempesto, and the attractions in the Sesame Street Forest of Fun. But in the evening, monsters also take over Festa Italia! It’s a rather motley crew, too, representing Howl-o-Screams past--for example, Jack the Ripper, fiendish clowns and ringmasters, and a reaper or two. (They were pretty active, particularly as you crossed the bridge into Festa Italia.) There are no mazes. The food selection isn’t as strong as during “A Taste of Busch Gardens” last month, but Marco Polo’s Marketplace is open, and you can get the same German meatballs they serve up at the Brauhaus at the Vesuvius Grill across from Escape from Pompeii. France, Fort New France, and part of Oktoberfest are closed, though (but you can ride Verbolten). And, yes, Jello-shooter syringes and other Halloween cocktails are available. Halloween Harvest has proven popular, so the park has added extra days (Wednesday-Sunday). Who wants to join for "Howl-o-Scream Lite"? Maybe we can seek a peek at Pantheon while we're at it. This photo perfectly illustrates visiting parks during the pandemic. Wear your masks, people! No Ripper Row in England this year. Here’s where you can go. No France or New France for you! The horror . . . the horror . . . If you want a nice snack, I recommend the German meatballs at the Vesuvius Grill. If you want some good beer, go to Grogan’s in Ireland. Spookiness level increasing. “So, I ain’t scary enough for you in broad daylight, eh? Well, come back later.” Who wants a look at Pantheon? Those who would gaze upon Pantheon . . . . . . must get past these fiends . . . why, hello. Behold the “Most Anticipated Attraction of 2020, er, 2021”! The bridge spans the Festa Italia Train Station. The steps to Mt. Olympus! Even the gods must comply with the ADA. Here’s a look at the station. Not sure if it’s “finished” yet. Sigh! I hope we'll get to experience that Intamin airtime next spring. I’m not sure what this little structure is, but it appears that something has yet to be installed. Maybe lockers? Well, at least we can ride Tempesto--in every other row. I didn’t notice any such restrictions on Apollo’s Chariot, but they were using a grouper (you couldn’t just queue for any row you wanted). They did this for Griffon and InvadR last month, too. The lines moved pretty well for Tempesto, Apollo's Chariot, and Verbolten that night. Why is that Victorian-era prostitute giving me such a dirty look? The Headless Hearseman is in Italy this year (he’s usually in England). Gaze upon him while you eat a sloppy Italian dinner with lots of red sauce sauce for that Halloween feel. The weather was perfect that evening. Yep--if you’re gonna plunge to your doom in the Rhine River, it may as well be during pleasant weather, right? (Seating was in every other row--like on Tempesto.) OK, now it looks a little more “Halloweeny.” “Yoo hoo! Who’s up for some unspeakable evil?” “Now I scare you good, right?” One last walk over the spooky Oktoberfest bridge. By the power of the full moon, I invoke thee, Pantheon! The Red Skull says, “Visit us again, soon. And tell Captain America I will totally kill him someday!” Thanks for reading.

  4. Yomiuriland is really trying hard to stay relevant during the pandemic. They're offering a work from the park plan! I really like this idea! https://soranews24.com/2020/10/12/telecommute-from-a-ferris-wheel-at-this-japanese-amusement-park/ Theme park adapts to the new normal with special remote work plans for visitors. Ever since the pandemic turned everyone’s everyday lives upside down, businesses have been looking for ways to stay afloat while workers have been looking for quiet places to telecommute outside the office. This perfect storm has led to karaoke joints, coffeehouse chains and restaurants readjusting their services to cater to the needs of the teleworker. Now, another unique location has opened up for those who want to work from home away from home: Tokyo’s Yomiuriland amusement park. Yomiuriland’s new telecommuting campaign, called “Amusement Work“, lets people work from a couple of different sites around the theme park. The first site that’s opened up is a poolside location, which comes complete with tables and deck chairs. Yomiuriland will be providing power and Wi-Fi throughout the area so telecommuters can use their laptops and devices to work with a view that creates the feeling of being at a tropical resort. Those who really want to reap the benefits of being at an amusement park will enjoy working from the Ferris wheel, which allows you to rent a private gondola for an hour, with pocket Wi-Fi provided. One hour on the ride gets you four laps of the wheel, so you’ll have plenty of chances to look out and enjoy the view from the top. Reservations for Amusement Work are limited and can be made online at the official Yomiuriland website. Tickets cost 1,900 yen (US$18) per person on weekdays and 2,000 yen on other days, and include: admission to the park, use of the poolside area (with one table, two chairs and two deckchairs), power, Wi-Fi, a one-hour ride on the Ferris wheel, free parking, and a free towel ticket to use at the “Oka no Yu” public bath, located just outside the park. Up to two people can share the poolside area and gondolas at the same time, with the price of a shared ticket costing 1,800 yen per person on weekdays, weekends and holidays, and the park will be accepting telecommuters from 15 October. Yomiuriland suggests bringing friends and family along for the day so you can get some work done before meeting them afterwards to enjoy the rest of the attractions. Whether you head out to the park for work or for play, or both, one thing’s for sure — attending a Zoom meeting from the comfort of a Ferris Wheel will make for a very memorable meeting.

  5. Really like the updates that I've played around with thus far, Robb. I don't really do much on my phone, and tend to mainly come to TPR on my Desktop, but the changes look great on that system. A little bit of learning curve for me (I be dum with the computery stuff ) but hell, if I can figure out how to quote and insert stuff? Then pretty much anyone should be able to. The only thing that's been "hinky" for me that I've noticed thus far? When quoting a post that contains a quoted post? I seem to lose the original post that was included and only see the response from the 2nd person. but that absolutely is likely a user error on my part. Will continue experimenting and see if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong there. but my feedback thus far?

  7. Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Liseberg, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. According to a witness one of the trains was on its way up the lifthill when it suddenly rolled-back, hitting a train in the station. No one were seriously hurt, but people were complaining about neck/back pain. They expect most of them to leave the hospital during the day. Heres the article for those of you who understand swedish http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/nyheter/s ... 14,00.html I thought it was impossible for a train to roll back on the lifthill, but I havent been able to see the anti-rollback system on the lifthill on Lisebergbanan, and the lifthill is extremely silent. This is very bad news because Im going to Liseberg in 1 1/2 weeks and I was really looking forward to ride Lisebergbanan again...

  20. I just visited yesterday (10/11). The crowds were very manageable. I didn't wait more than 5 minutes for anything, although it did get more crowded in the evening with Frightmares. However, my friend went the day before me on Saturday and said it was the busiest day he has ever been at the park. I think part of that is that Saturday had better weather. And because it's Saturday. I would recommend going Sunday for lighter crowds for sure. EDIT: Also thought I would add some photos of the new mystery coaster construction. We now have a lift hill and some green track installation to keep an eye on!

  24. So yeah, that's one of the learning curves that will be different. This forum has a "multi-quote" function, which basically means if you want to quote more than one post, you click the little + at the bottom of each post: And then when you have selected all the posts you want to add to your quote, you click the "Quote # posts..." button that appears on the bottom of the screen: The main reason for this method is so you don't get posts that have quoted 20 people and wind up with some GIANT thread with tons of previous posts. So now you're only quoting exactly what you want to comment on. Hope that helps!

  25. Love the new update! I just uploaded my profile pic and profile header from my iPad's camera roll with ease. Wonderful! Thank you for all the time and effort you (and everyone else involved) put into the forum. I will admit I was starting to go a little crazy not checking TPR like it's the morning news for the past couple weeks. And let's admit, reading TPR is MUCH more pleasant than the news! Looking forward to posting again!

  31. It just occurred to me that I got so sidetracked talking about the horses that I didn't mention anything else about the park that day. It was moderately busy but nothing compared to what it would be on a normal Saturday with perfect weather. Still some of the arcade games closed but all the rides running, including Boomerang and Fireball. In fact I think the only ride that was down was JL which of course was always going to be down, and TR and TS which I assume are done for the season. Batman did have a train get stuck very temporarily on the lift hill, we were stuck out on the break run due to it. But maintenance showed up and got them going within about 5 min. If it went down for longer after they unloaded both trains I have no idea how long. We didn't get back over to that part of the park until about 6 to eat at JR. Two trains running on every coaster! There are decorations going up for the Halloween event and the entertainment crew was rehearsing on the Palace porch for the the Halloween show there (can't think of the name at the moment) There were multiple outdoor stages going up so I think they are really trying to make the best of the situation. I will definitely hit that one night to check it all out. Besides I still have my "Golden ticket" as compensation for the lockdown, so my husband who doesn't go often enough to have a pass can come with me one night. They do have walls up in front of the Tidal Wave sight. I have absolutely no idea if that is because they are going to start working on something or they just wanted to cover up a dumpy looking site or they wanted to make extra sure people don't try to wander around in there. Mask use was pretty good. A few with them below nose and/or chin but definitely a small percentage. Social distancing in the lines, not so much and in places where the queues were out of site of ride ops, like the stairwell of Freeze, way more masks pulled down.

  34. Hamilton is in Orlando! I think most everyone by now, especially those with even a remote interest in Broadway theater, is at least familiar with Hamilton in that the show tells the story of one of America's Founding Fathers, Alexander Hamilton and part of the show's charm is that the story is told mostly through untraditional-for-Broadway rap, R&B, hip hop, and soul music. The characters in the show are also mostly cast as non-white performers to play the roles of white American figureheads. The shows boasts that it is "the story of America then told by America now." Kristen was thrilled to be able to see the show again! It is her absolute favorite Broadway musical and she's seen it four times now (including a trip to Puerto Rico to see it with Lin-Manuel Miranda playing Hamilton!) Thankfully we knew some people who worked on the touring production and she was invited backstage by Brad the Company Manager and she loved getting to tour the stage and learn more about the traveling production! My personal overall feeling about Hamilton is that I like the show quite a bit, there are parts that I absoultely LOVE, and I feel that anyone who is into Broadway musicals needs to see it, but that being said, having seen Hamilton twice now, once on Broadway and once at the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando, I do have some thoughts and musings about this show... 1. It absolutely is a "rap musical." I call this out because, while this is a popular feature of the show, it is also my least favorite part of the show. When it comes right down to it, I'm just not a huge fan of rap music, and I'd say about 1/3 of the show is fairly hardcore rap (at least for me) and if that isn't something you are a fan of, I would suggest taking a listen to the cast recording before spending hundreds of dollars on tickets. While I do like most of the rest of the music that is not quite as hardcore rap, I find myself tuning out about 1/3 of the show because it is a music style that I just cannot connect with. 2. The set design, lighting, and staging is absoultely wonderful! If you are a fan of stage lighting, there are some scenes in this show that I feel are absolute perfection! And I am blown away by how much story they can tell from a set design that is actually fairly simplistic. It reminds me quite a bit of the original production of Les Miserables, including the Les Mis classic "turntable" that was made popular by that show. I feel like the story and the staging alone makes this show for me! 3. Ticket Prices - ENTER THE LOTTERY! Every day! When the tour comes to town (currently it is in Orlando until Feb 10th) download the official Hamilton App and play the lottery! They will sell 20 pairs of tickets for $10 each ticket via the lottery! Aside from that, I would keep checking the theater's official website for any tickets that may come available. It does happen! Since there is an insane amount of hype surrounding this show, ticket prices are still absolutely crazy and for the most part, beyond what I would suggest paying to see a Broadway musical. I have seen tickets well into the $300 - $550 range for seats that aren't even that great, and IMO, no show is worth that much money. Thankfully, there will soon be three casts of Hamilton touring the US, in addition to the New York Broadway cast and the London West End cast. The more people who get to see this show, the less the demand will be and thus ticket prices will eventually come down. If you have not been able to get tickets for this current tour, don't worry, this show will continue to tour and will most likely be back in a year or two and hopefully by then the tickets will be cheaper and the show will still be just as great! 4. The story that Hamilton tells is absolutely inspiring on many levels and is easily my favorite part of the show. While, to be honest, the character of Hamilton himself actually comes across as a bit "unlikeable" at times during the show, there is so much amazing history that unfolds throughout the show and the displays of doing "good" for humanity is something that I feel more people need to be aware of, think about, and perhaps learn from. The show is worth going to see just for the storytelling alone. As I said above, overall I do like the show quite a lot. Maybe not as much as other people do and that goes back to what I said about the style of music. I feel like if it wasn't a "rap musical" it would easily be in my top 10 shows. If you are a fan of rap music, I think you'll be absoultely blown away by it, and even if you're not a fan of rap music, you should still give it a chance! Hamilton is currently playing in Orlando at the Dr. Phillips Center until February 10th and we strongly recommend checking the official Hamilton app and entering the lottery for tickets every single day! Do also check the Dr. Phillips official website for last minute tickets that may become available! Official Website: https://www.drphillipscenter.org/

  36. It's sounding like we have two casualties of the pandemic at DLR. Frozen Live and Mickey & The Magical Map are both dead for now according to some friends I have in the theatre world. In my opinion neither were very good but they were HUUUUUGE people-eaters for large chunks of the day. This will definitely have an impact on lines when the resort finally reopens. Here's hoping they take this opportunity to eviscerate everything from Frozen Live and install a short-form Newsies or Mary Poppins show. Frozen Live is horrible.
